There’s a ton hitting the streamers this month, and August might be one of the strongest lineups we’ve seen in a while. There’s another big Prime Video action comedy I can’t wait to watch (they’ve been on fire lately), plus a new James Gunn series I’ll definitely be checking out after loving “Superman.” And while my taste usually leans more comedy, this month’s picks range from high-seas revenge stories to true-crime thrillers to sci-fi prequels from one of the most famous horror franchises ever. So if you’re looking for something fresh to stream, here are the shows and movies I’m seriously pumped about in August.

Dave Franco is sharing how his Superbad role turned into one of his most embarrassing moments, on- and offscreen, and actually pushed him to keep auditioning.

In the 2007 buddy comedy starring Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, Franco makes a small appearance as Greg the Soccer Player, one of his first onscreen roles. In one of his scenes, Hill’s Seth calls out his character for peeing his pants years prior.

“I had a journey with that scene in and of itself, where I only have a few lines in this movie, but the movie was so big that people did recognize me on the street,” the Together actor explained to host Alex Cooper.

CBS’ The Late Show franchise lasted 33 years, but Bobbi Althoff’s absurdist The Really Good Podcast is signing off after 2 1/2 years.

And, no, costs aren’t to blame, nor are anti-Trump jokes. Rather, Althoff has simply decided to pull the plug.

Glen Powell may be closing the door on ever joining the ranks of superpowered heroes in the Marvel or DC universes.

In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, the Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters star revealed he's not particularly drawn to roles that involve capes, cosmic powers, or mutant abilities.

“I just don’t identify with people with superpowers for the most part,” Powell explained, discussing what led him to take on the role of Richards in the upcoming remake of The Running Man. “I like the ordinary guy against extraordinary odds. The entire world is hunting this man, trying to kill him. Can he survive? Can he save his family? That’s a great, simple story.”

Powell's comments seem to dash fan hopes of seeing him play characters like Aquaman or Nova, popular choices in recent fancast discussions.

Wes Anderson's The Phoenician Scheme introduced a complex project called the Korda Land and Sea Phoenician Infrastructure Scheme, and it involved a concept called "the gap." The black comedy movie mainly revolves around Zsa-zsa Karda (Benicio del Toro), an arms dealer and industrialist who, after seeing visions of the afterlife, decides to make amends with his estranged daughter, Sister Liesl (Mia Threapleton). Throughout the movie, Zsa-zsa is hunted down by an unknown killer amid his efforts to spearhead his newfound business venture. 

The Phoenician Scheme is imbued with Wes Anderson's style, meaning that some terms or concepts are deliberately vague or not explained thoroughly in the movie. One of these concepts is the gap, a crucial aspect that could make or break Zsa-zsa as his life and business hang in the balance.

Though Glen Powell has been linked to many superhero roles, he is set to portray a more normal protagonist in the anticipated remake of The Running Man. His character, Ben Richards, is more of an everyman whom the actor can relate to more easily.

Speaking to Empire about the modernized adaptation of the popular Stephen King novel, Powell explained why Richards appealed to him. I don’t like the cinema of Wes Anderson. It reminds me of those disjointed incoherent self consciously capricious film-school projects where the student wants to let the world he doesn’t care a fig about the rules.

Continuing his flabbergasting quest for the crest of quirkiness, Wes Anderson has now come up with The Phoenician Scheme a film that rattles all rationale and stirs up a storm in a teacup. Like other Anderson oddities this one too is visualized in cartoonstrip colours, mostly pale green, and a mood of mythologized satire , which itself is problematic for any serious viewing.

A new image for Glen Powell's The Running Manhas been unveiled. Based on Stephen King's survival thriller of the same name, the upcoming movie adaptation sees Powell in a Squid Game-like plot, where he plays an ordinary man who enters a deadly televised game to win money to save his family.

Slated to arrive in theaters on November 7, The Running Man is helmed by Baby Driver director Edgar Wright. Joining Powell in the cast are Lee Pace as Evan McCone, Josh Brolin as Dan Killian, Michael Cera as Elton, Katy O'Brian as Laughlin, Colman Domingo as Bobby Thompson, and many others.
