B&b Alum Files For Divorce
Image
The Bold and The Beautiful spoilers and updates reveal Lorenzo Lamas has filed for divorce after less than two years of marriage. The former B&b and Falcon Crest star is divorcing his sixth wife, Kenna Nicole Lamas according to TMZ.

Irreconcilable Differences Are Cited As The Cause For The Split

The 67-year-old soap actor, known for his roles as Lance Cumson on Falcon Crest and Hector Ramirez on The Bold and the Beautiful, has filed for divorce from 40-year-old Kenna on Tuesday.

He cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation, which he noted occurred on January 21 of this year.

Lorenzo is asking the court to end any possibility of either party seeking spousal support; the couple got married in October 2023 after getting engaged in February 2021.

Lorenzo expressed on Facebook after his proposal in 2021, “One thing’s for sure, we both feel like we’ve won the love lottery with each other.

Doctor Who In 2024 Owes More To The Failed 1990s Movie Than You Realize
Image
Despite the failure of Doctor Who's 1996 movie, the show's modern era just wouldn't be the same if not for certain contributions from Paul McGann's brief spell leading the franchise as the Eighth Doctor. The show's 2004 revival with Christopher Eccleston marked a strong change in tone when compared with Doctor Who's classic era, despite all existing canon remaining in place. In several ways, McGann's movie falls somewhere between the original run and the version that's around today, but it's certainly more similar to the newer episodes than the older ones.

Of all the actors to play the Doctor, Paul McGann's tenure is among the shortest. The feature-length production in which he starred was a clear attempt to bring the franchise out of dormancy. However, despite McGann's brilliant performance, the movie's divisive script resulted in many fans rejecting it, and Doctor Who didn't come back in any meaningful way for almost another decade.

Every Doctor Bashir Love Interest In Star Trek
Image
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Julian Bashir (Alexander Siddig), approached his romantic relationships the same way he approached his career: with youthful optimism and the confidence that he could accomplish anything. While this generally worked out better for Julian's Starfleet career than his love life, Dr. Bashir still had a series of DS9 love interests. Over Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's seven years, Bashir found love (or something like it) with single-episode guest stars and recurring DS9 characters alike.

Like many other characters in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Dr. Bashir evolved as a character thanks to DS9's risky—but effective— storytelling strategy, which was more serialized than previous Star Trek shows. The ongoing adventures of Deep Space Nine's senior staff gave more insight into the personal lives of DS9 characters. Bashir was a hopeless flirt in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's earlier seasons,...

Christopher Eccleston, Peter Capaldi, David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Jodie Whittaker in Doctor Who (2005)
Doctor Who | TV movie writer reunites with Paul McGann to pen new audio story
Christopher Eccleston, Peter Capaldi, David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Jodie Whittaker in Doctor Who (2005)
Doctor Who TV movie writer Matthew Jacobs has reunited with Paul McGann for a new Big Finish audio story.

To date, Paul McGann’s total screen time as the Doctor clocks in at under two hours, and the majority of that can be credited to screenwriter Matthew Jacobs, who penned the 1996 TV Movie. Though it’s perhaps not the most beloved piece of Doctor Who media, most fans now acknowledge that it’s an important bridge between the classic series and the glossy sheen and higher production values of the revived show.

The film saw Sylvester McCoy’s Seventh Doctor land in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve 1999, before promptly being gunned down outside the Tardis. He regenerates into Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor, and teams up with Doctor Grace Holloway (Daphne Ashbrook) to fight The Master, who’s taken over the body of a paramedic (Eric Roberts) and...

Why Doctor Who's Queer Kiss in 'Rogue' is Groundbreaking
Image
Doctor Who's "Rogue" episode introduces the first queer romance for the Fifteenth Doctor, building on past LGBTQ+ themes in the series. The Doctor's kiss with Rogue sets the stage for potential future appearances, hinting at a recurring relationship with the time-traveling hero. This episode marks a significant moment in Doctor Who history, explicitly portraying the Doctor as queer and embracing a romantic same-gender relationship.

The following contains spoilers for Doctor Who, Season 1, Episode 6, "Rogue," now streaming on Disney+ and BBC iPlayer.

The sixth episode of Doctor Who, Season 1, "Rogue," featured a whirlwind romance for the Doctor unlike any other in the series' history. "Rogue" saw the Doctor and Ruby traveling to England's Regency era for a Doctor Who episode with heavy overtones of Bridgerton. Of course, all was not as it seemed. The Doctor and Ruby soon discovered they were not the only ones who didn't belong in Regency era England.

Doctor Who's New Fifteenth Doctor Romance Is Perfect After A Tired 28-Year Streak
Image
Warning: Spoilers ahead for Doctor Who season 14, episode 6, "Rogue."

Doctor Who introduces a fresh love interest, breaking a companion romance trope after 30 years. Rogue's romance with the Doctor mirrors River Song's connection with the Time Lord. The ending of "Rogue" hints at Rogue's return, with symbols and clues suggesting a future union with the Doctor.

Doctor Who season 14, episode 6, "Rogue," introduces a new love interest for the Doctor, and it freshens up the trope after nearly 30 years of the Time Lord's romantic encounters. Doctor Who's Disney era has meant several changes for the show, including a new leading man and a higher production budget. However, Russell T Davies has made sure to keep the Doctor's romantic life active in spite of Doctor Who's soft reboot in the 2023 Christmas Special.

"Rogue" brings in a new member of the Doctor Who season 14 cast for a flying visit. The romantic...

7 Doctor Who Romance Storylines That Badly Backfired
Image
Doctor Who has had multiple romance storylines throughout its 60-year run, but not all of them have been successful. The show often teases and builds up potential romantic relationships between characters, but many story arcs don't come to fruition. Some of the failed romantic relationships include the Eighth Doctor and Grace Holloway, the Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones, and the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz Khan.

While it's not the primary function of the show, Doctor Who has had multiple romance storylines during its 60-year run, and some of these love stories have been failures. Since the show's 2005 revival, more and more of these romantic possibilities between characters have appeared. Sometimes, they involve the Time Lord themselves, although their alien personality often means they are oblivious to advances. Most of these story arcs don't come to anything, yet the teasing and build-up for these relationships stand out.

Of course, there have...

Doctor Who Is Still Copying Paul McGann's Biggest Controversy 27 Years Later
Image
Paul McGann's controversial kiss as the Eighth Doctor paved the way for future romantic storylines in Doctor Who, allowing subsequent Doctors to explore emotional love stories. The kiss between the Eighth Doctor and Grace Holloway sparked unease because it went against the established portrayal of the Doctor as an alien figure devoid of romantic feelings. Modern Doctor Who romances receive less backlash because they serve to develop the Doctor's character and utilize the show's sci-fi elements, unlike the 1996 TV movie kiss which felt like a contractual obligation.

Paul McGann's Eighth Doctor has a lot to answer for, as Doctor Who is still taking full advantage of his most controversial moment nearly 30 years after it caused a stir. When Paul McGann debuted as the Eighth Doctor in 1996's TV movie, the project served as a soft reboot following the original show's cancelation seven years prior. The Doctor Who movie remained anchored to existing continuity,...

10 Best Doctor Who Duos Who for Tales of the Tardis Season 2
Image
A new era of Doctor Who has kicked off with the launch of the Whoniverse on BBC iPlayer. The Whoniverse banner covers all Doctor Who content, from the main show to spinoffs and behind-the-scenes specials. The first original series to be released within the Whoniverse is Tales of the Tardis, a Doctor Who companion series that sees past Doctors and companions returning in a "memory Tardis" in order to recount their old adventures. The first season consists of six episodes, all featuring characters and stories from the classic series.

Doctor Who fans have been quick to embrace Tales of the Tardis, which uses new scenes with its returning characters to bookend classic stories. A second season has the potential to take the concept even further, perhaps increasing the amount of newly filmed content that is featured and exploring stories from beyond the classic series, or even from beyond Doctor Who itself.

Doctor Who Am I review – a genial dive into the Whoniverse with one of its creators
Matthew Jacobs
Screenwriter Matthew Jacobs, who wrote Doctor Who: The Movie, plunges among fans of the sci-fi series to find out what makes Time Lord diehards tick

When Matthew Jacobs’s name is first displayed on screen in this likable documentary, he is identified as a “mid-level screenwriter”; it’s more of a self-deprecating description than a diss given that he is one of the film’s co-directors (along with Vanessa Yuille) as well as the feature’s star subject. But his filmography is a mixed bag, and includes several things you may never have heard of (Bar America and the cartoon Justin and the Knights of Valour), little remembered reworkings of established works, the original story for one of Disney’s least popular works (The Emperor’s New Groove), the film adaptation for one stone-cold British cult classic, and the script for 1996’s Doctor Who: The Movie.

That last title is the...

Doctor Who Failed Its Thirteen & Yaz Romance
Image
This article contains spoilers for the Doctor Who Centenary Special, The Power of the Doctor.

In their final episode, Doctor Who failed the romance subplot between the Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) and her companion Yaz (Mandip Gill). The Doctor Who Centenary Special, "The Power of the Doctor," almost completely ignores the romance that has been blooming between the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz, in favor of an abundance of action scenes and a plethora of fan service. While the action sequences are fun and the appearances from many classic Doctors and companions are more than welcome, the Doctor Who Centenary Special's ending for the relationship between Yaz and the Thirteenth Doctor is disappointing and lacking in closure.

The romance between the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz is far from the first time that a romantic relationship has been teased between The Doctor and their companions on the show: the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann...

‘Doctor Who Am I’ Review
Image
Features: Matthew Jacobs, Paul McGann, Eric Roberts, Daphne Ashbrook | Directed by Vanessa Yuille, Matthew Jacobs

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, I’ll watch any good documentary even if I am not interested in the subject matter. Which leads me to see this documentary on the writer of the 1996 Doctor Who movie, Doctor Who Am I. It’s not that I’ve never seen Doctor Who, or that I dislike it at all. I’m just not that bothered by it. I’ve watched it every now and then throughout my life and it’s usually fine but I’ve never stuck with it. But, after a quick read of this movie’s synopsis I was certain I would enjoy it.

The movie follows Matthew Jacobs, the screenwriter of the 1996 Doctor Who film (a film that I did not realise was not well received), who...

‘Doctor Who Am I’ Documentary About BBC Time Lord Snapped Up by Kaleidoscope Film Distribution (Exclusive)
Image
Award-winning Doctor Who doc “Doctor Who Am I” has been snapped up by Kaleidoscope Film Distribution, Variety can exclusively reveal.

Kaleidoscope are set to release “Doctor Who Am I” theatrically in the U.K. in October and are also repping international sales. Materials will be available to view at TIFF next month.

Marking Vanessa Yuille directorial debut, the documentary feature tells the story of the infamous 1996 “Doctor Who” TV film, which was produced during a gap in the TV series. It featured Paul McGann as the Time Lord but received disapprobation from fans, who were apparently unhappy at the suggestion the Doctor was half human, especially when he kissed his assistant Grace Holloway.

Matthew Jacobs wrote the standalone “Doctor Who” film and, in “Doctor Who Am I,” he reluctantly allows himself to be drawn back into the time period to examine the making of the production as well the reaction it inspired.

Peter Capaldi turned down Doctor Who TV movie audition
Had things gone differently, Peter Capaldi could have played the Doctor instead of Paul McGann all the way back in 1996...

Peter Capaldi has revealed that he turned down the chance to audition for the role of the Doctor back in 1996.

Speaking today at a London event celebrating next week’s launch of Doctor Who Series 8 on DVD, Capaldi told interviewer Frank Skinner and an audience of fans:

“I knew I wouldn’t get it. I loved the show so much that I didn’t want to have anything to do with it unless it was going to be me. I didn’t want to have the disappointment and go through all the palaver of jumping through hoops for something that I would never get. Because I knew it was an American pilot, and I knew they would go for somebody who was well-known - which Paul was, and he was fantastic.

Doctor Who Mega Review – Big Finish’s July Releases
Welcome to my Big Finish mega-review for the month of July! I’m also including one June release, since I wasn’t able to listen to it until just this month. Enjoy!

Companion Chronicles 8.01 – “Mastermind”

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

The Vault – an archive of alien artefacts securely stored deep beneath the Angel of the North.

There’s also a prisoner in the Vault. An extraterrestrial known as the Master. He has been on Earth for some time, but now he’s under lock and key.

This is his story.

Or, as Captain Ruth Matheson and Warrant Officer Charlie Sato discover… perhaps it is theirs.

Starring: Geoffrey Beevers (The Master), Daphne Ashbrook (Ruth Matheson), Yee Jee Tso (Charlie Sato)

This is easily the best audio this month, and one of the best Companion Chronicles stories period. The story itself revisits the Unit vault, previously seen a few chronicles ago, and brings...

Doctor Who Gallifrey One La Convention Preview
This is a big weekend for Whovians in the U.S with the Gallifrey One convention (#gally) taking place in La.

In it’s 23rd year this convention is pretty much as official as it gets ‘across the pond’ (no Pond intended) and has seen a huge swell of interest thanks to the intense promotional work and focus on American Who fandom since we first saw The Impossible Astronaut in 2011.

While not an “official” convention like the one to be held in Cardiff in late March, this one is crammed with guests that will interest both classic and current series fans (thought not Matt Smith and Karen Gillan as they are the primary focus of the official convention). Firstly, the day is being billed as a 1996 TV movie reunion with 8th Doctor Paul McGann reunited with Daphne Ashbrook, Yee Jee Tso, Eric Roberts and producer Philip Segal.

I wear a Fez now.

Doctor Who complete reviews: The TV movie
The 1990s were Doctor Who's very own Decadus Horriblus (thanks to the Basil Brush Book of Latin for this). Up until 1990, Doctor Who had carved itself a niche in the BBC schedules, usually to worldwide applause, high ratings and positive critical feedback.

And then it all went horribly wrong.

By the mid-1980s, Doctor Who was starting to get out of its depth as a result of a misunderstood Doctor, over-complicated plots and a dash of violence.
