If the Aee was one's only exposure to the industry, the crowded convention hall might seem proof that porn is truly recession-proof. But insiders claim the business has gone limp -- metaphorically speaking -- because more people are watching porn for free over the Internet instead of purchasing it.

Lisa Ann, a porn star perhaps best known for her role as a Sarah Palin look-alike in an adult film series, is happy to be reprising her role as the former Alaska governor this weekend in Tampa, Fla., ahead of the Republican National Convention. Porn parodies have always been a huge part of the American porn industry but recently there seems to have been a glut of XXX satires of comic book films (Batman, Justice League) and geek/cult movies (Reservoir Dogs) that are adding a new dimension to the niche and whetting someones appetite, I guess.

As a childhood fan of the Adam West 60′s Batman show, I seeked out the recent authentic XXX parody and perhaps it’s only me but I found myself more annoyed by the overlong sex scenes because I was so much enjoying seeing these colourful versions of the again with all the ridiculous costumes and campy dialogue. I kinda wanted to see where the story would go without the sex and it all became too distracting. Maybe I’m just getting old.

Julianne Moore has been tipped to play former Governor of Alaska and former presidential candidate, Sarah Palin in a television biopic.

According to the BBC, the feature film, entitled Game Change will focus on Palin’s emergence as running candidate during Republican John McCain's presidential campaign.

HBO Films are looking to fund the small-screen project and Meet the Parents Jay Roach is rumoured to be on board as director.

At this stage it is unclear how Palin will be represented in the film. During the presidential race the Governor was subject to numerous spoofs, including a skit by Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live.

Palin was also impersonated by a porn star named Lisa Ann, who appeared in one of Eminem’s videos.

Four-time Oscar nominated Moore, who recently starred alongside Annette Bening and Mark Ruffalo in The Kids Are All Right, has the credentials to pull off the part.

After in early June Mark-Paul Gosselaar announced that he and wife of almost 14-year Lisa Ann Russell split, Gosselaar has taken action to make the separation official. E! Online reported that the "Saved by the Bell" actor filed for divorce in L.A. County Superior Court on June 18.

The site further reported that in the petition, Gosselaar cited irreconcilable differences and he is willing to pay spousal and child support. Gosselaar and Ann Russell have two kids together, 6-year-old Michael Charles and 4-year-old Ava Lorenn.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Lisa Ann Russell, who exchanged vows on August 26, 1996, have not yet revealed the reason behind their separation. When announcing the break-up, a rep for Gosselaar only said, "Mark-Paul Gosselaar and his wife Lisa are currently separated, but they both remain focused on their family and are jointly committed to their children."

The X-rated actress, 37, who portrays former U.S. Vice President candidate Sarah Palin in porn films like newly-released You're Nailin' Palin, claimed she met Kim Kardashian's brother at the gym and the odd couple has been an item for a month.

She even went on record about the romance, insisting the age difference between her and Kardashian enhanced their sex life: "Rob treats me like his little teacher and we have a fun sexual relationship that is simple and carefree."

But a source close to Kardashian insists the porn star's claims aren't true.

The insider tells UsMagazine.com, "They did meet at a gym, but that's it... She wants a bit of fame right now. Rob is laughing it off."...

The first season of Oxygen’s hit show Dance Your Ass Off has been a surprise pleasure and a surprise hit. A mixture of two popular and familiar reality TV genres – the weight loss show and the dance competition – the show featured not one, but two out gay contestants. Oxygen's Dance Your Ass Off ended its first season run with a huge finish Monday night, becoming the most watched freshmen series in the network's history. Ruben, a 43-year-old wardrobe designer from Las Vegas, was crowned the winner of Dance Your Ass Off with a total weight loss of 74 pounds over the course of the season. But it doesn't stop there. Fans can see Ruben again when he and the rest of the cast return during the Dance Your Ass Off Reunion special premiering Monday, September 7th at 10pm Et/Pt. In the opening moments of "Bruce Almighty", Jim Carrey, as Buffalo, N.Y., TV reporter Bruce Nolan, is conducting an interview with the bakers of a giant cookie. There are all kinds of shenanigans going on in the scene, but what you really notice is the intelligent, devilish gleam in Carrey's eyes -- a promise of irreverence that many will welcome after his over-earnest turn in "The Majestic". Reteaming with director Tom Shadyac ("Ace Ventura: Pet Detective", "Liar Liar"), the star is in loose-limbed form, with healthy doses of fury, in a film that mostly succeeds at fusing his slapstick talents and more heartfelt inclinations.

Happily, the sappiness that creeps around the edges of the script by Steve Koren, Mark O'Keefe and Steve Oedekerk doesn't overtake the strong, cleansing humor until late in the proceedings. Reining in his tendency to go over the top, Carrey is appealing here in a way that even nonfans will likely appreciate, though they might not buy the protagonist's conversion from know-it-all to all-embracing. Those eagerly awaiting his new big-screen work will flock to theaters for a mighty opening and continued celestial boxoffice.

Fed up with being the "human interest" guy who makes people laugh and hungry for the anchor spot soon to be vacated by a retiring colleague, Bruce is devastated during sweeps when his mealy-mouthed rival, Evan Baxter (Steven Carell) -- who must be a younger, smarter relation of Ted Baxter -- gets the promotion. Bruce's live, on-air reaction to the news is one of the best scenes in the film. But that kind of wild, free-floating indignation, though thrilling and funny, is the problem to be remedied: Our hero, who is promptly fired, needs to see the light.

Soon enough, the light hits him directly from its heavenly source. Bruce's despondence over being stalled in his career carries over into a general frustration with what he considers the mediocrity of his life. Not only is he out of work, living in a kind of limbo with his girlfriend of five years, Grace (Jennifer Aniston), but their dog refuses to be house-trained and his car is a wreck. Not quite the Job of Buffalo, he angrily tells God, "The only one around here not doing his job is you!"

Apparently that really gets God's attention. Via persistent pager messages, the Lord summons Bruce to a warehouse belonging to Omni Presents Inc., where God (Morgan Freeman), who doubles as a janitor, gives Bruce a chance at the helm. The only stipulations are that Bruce can't tell anyone about the deal and he can't mess with free will.

Courtesy of the polished film's clever visual effects, Bruce uses his new powers in creative ways: parting a bowl of tomato soup, achieving one-upmanship with a bunch of thugs, arranging an ultraromantic night with Grace and messing up Evan's on-air performance (a bit of nicely goofy work from Carell). After being rehired by his station, he concocts outrageous news scoops that earn him the moniker Mr. Exclusive and account for some of the funniest gags in the movie.

Given the natural disasters and (unbelievable) civil disobedience that Bruce inadvertently causes, some viewers might question why God would focus so much attention on a TV personality who's having an early midlife crisis. This is no mere angelic stand-in for God, after all, as in "It's a Wonderful Life" -- cited here on Grace's TV. The not-to-be-scrutinized premise adopts the popular notion of God as nice guy, a role Freeman fulfills with his unsurpassed equanimity, good humor and a steady, compassionate gaze.

But no one else gets to do much of interest. The colorful character actors Philip Baker Hall, Sally Kirkland and Nora Dunn are wasted in bland parts, while Aniston breathes as much life as she can into the standard-issue role of the supportive and patient girlfriend (who, in case there are any lingering doubts about her goodness, is a nursery school teacher named Grace).

Although the film's jabs at TV journalism are nothing new, Carrey brings to the material the sense of someone who's too smart for his work yet loves it -- the essence, perhaps, of being a ham. It's an exciting friction but one that's doomed to dissipate under the feel-good requirements of the script. Some will find that a letdown; Bruce's ambition and jealousy in the early going give the character his believable rough edges and fire -- the "divine spark" that Freeman's God sees in him and the same knowing look that lights up the screen the instant Carrey looks into the camera to deliver a spiel about a giant cookie.

While the Hayley Mills faithful will likely consider it sacrilege, Disney's update of its 1961 charmer, "The Parent Trap", emerges as the most satisfying of the studio's recent dust-offs.

Marking co-scribe Nancy Meyers' debut at the helm, the picture is a handsomely mounted, impeccably cast midsummer romantic comedy that for the most part hits all the key classic moments with respect rather than sticky reverence.

Although the two-hour-plus running time might tax smaller viewers' attention spans (granted, the original was even longer), this "Parent Trap" could very well double the going family-fare rate at the boxoffice, snaring both young girls and their nostalgic moms. And video should be, to quote from another memorable Mills outing, scathingly brilliant.

Doing double duty as spunky Northern Californian Hallie Parker and her separated-at-birth, London-bred twin Annie James, freckle-faced daytime soap veteran Lindsay Lohan is a major find, nailing her British accent and demanding eye lines with considerable finesse. Mills would likely approve.

Meanwhile, the Brian Keith and Maureen O'Hara roles have been neatly filled by dependable Dennis Quaid as Hallie's winery-owning dad and Natasha Richardson as Annie's wedding gown-designing mum. It's particularly gratifying to see the endlessly versatile Richardson demonstrate a winning but seldom seen flair for physical comedy.

Likewise, TV comedian Lisa Ann Walter ("Life's Work") shows off some sparkling line delivery as Parker family housekeeper Chessy, while busy British actor Simon Kunz ("Four Weddings and a Funeral") has some fun as the Jameses' unstuffy butler, Martin. And, in a nod to continuity, Joanna Barnes, who played the conniving Vicki Robinson in the original, returns as the mother of the current evil fiancee played by Elaine Hendrix.

Meyers and longtime writing partner Charles Shyer, who handed over the directing reins to his wife but did second-unit work here, do a nice job in lightly modernizing David Swift's original screenplay, which, in turn, was based on a German novel.

But there's an episodic feel to the material that could have been eliminated had Meyers and Shyer been able to cut it down to a more compact, contemporary length.

Behind the scenes, the production is a pleasant surprise. Rather than adhering to the usual, budget-conscious, shoot-it-in-Vancouver approach, the producers have done it up right with the help of a couple of Deans of the industry -- production designer Dean Tavoularis ("The Godfather" movies) and director of photography Dean Cundey ("Jurassic Park", "Apollo 13"), who lend the remake an unexpectedly rich luster.

Add solid visual effects, some chic contributions by costume designer Penny Rose ("Evita") and a bouncy Alan Silvestri score -- but subtract the onslaught of too cute song cues -- and "The Parent Trap" is live action Disney diversion at its breezy best.
