The next horror movie from filmmaker Jordan Peele has received a disappointing update. Peele, who won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for his 2017 film Get Out and has directed movies like Us (2019) and Nope (2022).

Peele was expected to release his next movie with Universal Pictures in October 2026, but that is no longer the case. Per Variety, Universal Pictures has removed Peele’s upcoming movie from its release calendar. The still-untitled project was last dated for an October 2026 release.

While Jordan Peele has been promoting his studio Monkeypaw’s next twisted film “Him,” his fans will have to wait for his next movie as a writer-director as Universal has removed it from its theatrical slate, individuals with knowledge of the project have confirmed to TheWrap.

The sources say that Peele is continuing to develop his follow-up to his 2022 film “Nope,” which will be the fourth of his directorial career. Like his past works, it will be a horror thriller, but plot details are being kept under wraps. Universal declined to comment.

Director Justin Tipping is the focus of a new Him featurette, and producer Jordan Peele offers high praise for the up-and-coming filmmaker.

It didn’t take long for Jordan Peele to be the name you wanted attached to your horror movie. The latest is Him, directed by Justin Tipping, and now we have a new featurette on the movie titled “Shepherding Him.”

The brief video – which comes on the heels of the trailer – opens with Peele praising Tipping for his ability to create a horror movie set within the world of professional sports. After passing up on the fifth film in the franchise, Faris has announced her return as the ditzy Cindy Campbell in the upcoming Scary Movie 6. Back in 2022, the actress spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the possibility of reprising the role in the future.

Faris put forward her two conditions – a good enough paycheck and the chance to work with her co-star, Hall, again. When asked what it would take for her to go back to the Scary Movie set, Faris said,

Um, money! No, I love Regina so much. We’re always making each other just giggle, and I loved that dynamic. I think it was a really unique element that we brought to the table for that franchise.

As a child, I was obsessed with the early films in the Scary Movie franchise. To me, they were funny and edgy and just scary enough to make me dart around the nearest piece of furniture to hide from an infamous horror villain. I liked that the movies made me feel clued in on all of the referential humor, like pop culture was something to participate in, not simply bear witness to.

Julia Fox is the latest guest star to join CBS’ police procedural “Elsbeth.” She will play a New York City “grief influencer” in the third season of the dramedy, a spinoff of “The Good Wife” and “The Good Fight.”

Fox will play Raquel Drabowski, described by CBS as a “Staten Island widow who transformed herself into an upscale NYC ‘Grief Influencer’ and reality star on the hit dating series ‘Black Veil.'”

“Elsbeth” Season 3 premieres on Oct. 12. The show stars Carrie Preston as the de facto detective Elsbeth Tascioni. The majority of the show functions as a “howcatchem” mystery, rather than a “whodunit,” meaning the audience is usually privy to who the murderer is at the beginning of each episode. The series premiered in February 2024 and kicked off its second season just months after the first season finished airing.
