Big franchise releases are just around the corner for the summer movie season and two anticipated films for fans are the reboot to the most famous superhero of all-time and the sequel to one of the most beloved comedies ever made. Superman has been confirmed by James Gunn himself to have a runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes and debunked the rumor that Warner Bros. interfered with his cut. According to Gunn, referring to the rumor, “Zero truth to that. And they couldn’t even if that’s something that they wanted to. It’s a DC Studios film.”
The MPA just released their new ratings bulletin and one thing they are confirming that Gunn doesn’t have to is the rating according to the content in the new DC Universe debut. It can easily be predicted, but Superman has been Rated PG-13 “for violence, action and language.”

Tires season two rolled out on Netflix today, Thursday, June 5. Riding shotgun in the Shane Gillis-vehicle are his friends and creative partners for a decade, co-star/writer Steve Gerben and writer/director John McKeever. (For the sake of the analogy, picture a 1970s Chevy Bel Air front bench seat.)
Well, really, it is McKeever (who professionally goes by just “McKeever”) steering the car with Gerben navigating — or vice versa. The 6’3” Gillis is stretched out in the backseat — that’s where the celebrity goes — but he’s not merely along for the ride. We’ll stop forcing the metaphor immediately.
Gillis is a co-creator of the series and number one on its call sheet. He’s also the guy who paid out of pocket to build the Tires set.

Jason Momoa might seem like a wrestler, but he isn't. The problem is he has the size of Dewayne Johnson and John Cena, and might seem like one of the actors of that ilk, but he is much more experienced as an actor than those former wrestlers could ever be.
Still, it's easy to only see Momoa as an action star and nothing else. He is capable of drama, but lately has been full-bore into comedy. He's good at it. Opposite Jack Black in Minecraft, Momoa is the kind of goof that is needed for the role.
Andy Samberg has always been the goof we needed in most of his comedic roles, but the trick is, like Adam Sandler, he is smarter than he might seem. That translates on the screen even when we laugh at the silly things he might do.

It’s official—Happy Gilmore is back, and honestly, it feels like the perfect movie to bring back to hit nostalgia. After nearly three decades, Adam Sandler is stepping back onto the green, and this time, he’s bringing a whole new generation along for the ride. The first trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 dropped on June 1, and it’s already creating a lot of buzz around the movie.
The trailer packs in everything you’d hope for—classic one-liners, some surprising new faces, and yes, a hilariously aggressive Happy, just that he is significantly older. And looking at the trailer, things seem hopeful, as the movie is not just riding the nostalgic wave, but is also adding to it. This sequel looks like more than just a simple return. It builds on the original’s legacy with fresh energy, wild moments, and, of course, some classic Adam Sandler-type comedy.

These days, streaming services are overrun with content. There are pretty much hundreds of new shows released each month, and it's impossible to keep up with all of them. Our watch lists have become stocked with limited series that can often leave us thinking, "Well, that could have been a movie." It's reminiscent of the phrase, "This meeting could have been an email."
While some shows should have been movies instead, there are other shows that perfectly capture the essence of a movie. That's how I felt watching Stick, the new Apple TV+ comedy series starring Owen Wilson that premiered on June 4. By all accounts, this could have been an excellent sports comedy in the mid-aughts.
In the series, Wilson plays fallen professional golfer Pryce Cahill. Following a dramatic ending to his career that included a public breakdown on the green, he's working at a golf supply store and driving a beat-up yellow Corvette.

Jason Momoa, Andy Samberg Star in Netflix’s Untitled Action Comedy Set in Hawaii (Photo Credit – Wikipedia/Prime Video)
Netflix is gearing up for a wild new action comedy that brings together Jason Momoa and Andy Samberg for the first time. The global streaming platform came out on top after a heated bidding race that saw several studios and streamers competing, and now they have secured the untitled project which will be set in Momoa’s home turf, Hawaii.
The Movie Details
Even though the storyline remains locked up tight, what’s known till now is enough to turn heads. According to Deadline, the movie pairs two powerhouses from completely different lanes with Momoa bringing his larger-than-life action presence, and Samberg, with his comedic style. Their collaboration is already generating a buzz, especially with the script being handled by Rob Klein and John Solomon, both known for their work on Saturday Night Live.

After my back-up plan to my back-up plan crashed and burned, I wound up in “extra land.” I became a background actor — no experience required. I played everything from a creepy nun to a Hasidic Jew to John Early (albeit from behind, with a bald spot shaved into my head). It was film school on the cheap. I observed the production process up close and took copious notes. In no particular order, then, here are my 13 Commandments of Being a Background Actor. Study them wisely before even attempting to walk in my extra shoes.
Never Speak To Principal Actors That is, unless they address you first. Production can’t have, uh, Bob Wiley-adjacent types bothering actors who are preparing. That said, it’s not uncommon for principals to speak to extras. The interaction that I’ll most cherish? Moments before “action” at Strand Books in the West Village, Amanda Peet...

Few "Saturday Night Live" cast members made a bigger impact in a short period of time than Chris Farley. From his debut on the show in 1990 to his tragic passing in 1997, Farley made a name for himself with his "go for broke" commitment to physical comedy and his charming, affable personality.
Farley played big parts in small roles for a couple of feature films alongside his "Saturday Night Live" cast members like Adam Sandler in "Airheads" or "Coneheads" with Dan Akroyd, but it's his starring role in "Tommy Boy" that made him an eternal star. The 1995 comedy stars Farley as an overgrown man-child forced to take the reins of his father's brake pad company, with poor David Spade forced to babysit him.
It's a classic odd couple comedy, with Spade's snarky comedic persona contrasting perfectly with Farley's "golly gee wiz" sincerity. Many say "Tommy Boy" is Farley's best movie,...

"Happy Gilmore 2" is coming to Netflix this summer, and thanks to a long history of underwhelming comedy sequels, it already has an uphill battle. Combine that with the fact that Adam Sandler's comedies for the past 20 years have been largely disappointing and, in many cases, downright awful, and our excitement probably isn't quite as high as we'd like it to be.
Even so, Netflix debuted a new trailer for the golf comedy sequel during its big Tudum presentation over the weekend, and it gave us a pretty good idea of Happy Gilmore's story this time around. He's getting back into golf after being out of the sport for a long time. One of the most anticipated comedies of the summer is, of course, Happy Gilmore 2, the sequel to the beloved Adam Sandler comedy about the wannabe hockey player-turned-professional golfer who somehow wasn’t banned from the sport for life after brawling with a senior citizen in the middle of a tournament.

MTV launched on August 1, 1981, famously charging out of the gate with The Buggles' hit song "Video Killed the Radio Star." It was pretty presumptuous and cheeky for the suits at MTV to assume that their new network was instantly ripping apart an old media landscape, but they were eventually proven somewhat right. MTV became, for a prolonged spell, a brand new cultural fulcrum for Gen-x youths. The network didn't just randomly showcase hip music videos — a medium that exploded in popularity thanks to MTV's machinations — but carefully curated them, allowing viewers to appreciate certain genres, labels, or artists they may not have known otherwise. Some early MTV explorers may recall 1983's "I.R.S. Records Presents The Cutting Edge." Hosts would introduce blocks of videos and even take requests. The term VJ entered the pop lexicon.

Cinema's most iconic golfer returns this summer as Adam Sandler, Christopher McDonald, Ben Stiller, and Julie Bowen are all heading back to the green for Happy Gilmore 2. But the latter star is amazed they were called back for the legacy sequel. The original Happy Gilmore was released in 1996, and followed the titular former hockey pro as he joined the PGA Tour to raise money to save his grandma's house. Bowen played Happy Gilmore's love interest, Virginia Venit, with Happy eventually winning her over by the end of the first movie. The core characters are all coming back for Happy Gilmore 2, but Bowen is surprised that Happy didn't act like a stereotypical sports star and move on from his wife for someone younger.
Appearing at Netflix's Tudum event, Julie Bowen spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about her role in Happy Gilmore 2. While the titular Happy (Sandler) and...

This past Memorial Day weekend was one for the record books as Disney's live-action "Lilo & Stitch" went up against Tom Cruise's "Mission: Impossible -- The Final Reckoning" at the box office. Overall, the films helped collectively set a new record for the holiday, though it was "Lilo & Stitch" that won the day with a global box office take exceeding $300 million in a single weekend. Amazingly enough, though, this isn't the first time that Cruise battled the duo that is Lilo and Stitch at the box office, with the first match-up having shaken out quite differently.
In the summer of 2002, Cruise was heading up Steven Spielberg's sci-fi film "Minority Report," an adaptation of author Philip K. Dick's "The Minority Report." It was one of the most-anticipated movies of the summer and had a prime June release date on the calendar. Disney, meanwhile, had a new original...

While critics may raise their eyebrows at Happy Gilmore returning for another adventure, that might not be the case with fans. I am excited to see Adam Sandler back in the golf field with his over-the-top antics. Netflix released the trailer of Happy Gilmore 2 at a Tudum presentation as a surprise for fans. As much as I am excited for the film, there’s one thing bugging me about the film’s trailer.
The trailer is set as a tribute to the previous film, filled with easter eggs from the 1996 outing. What worries me is that the film would end up as fan service rather than an original film like its predecessor. Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Blake Clark, and Ben Stiller are returning for the sequel.

Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore is hitting the green nearly three decades later to stage a golf comeback, and he’s bringing along a cavalcade of stars in the official trailer for Happy Gilmore 2.
“Even when you’re at the top of your game, you can always shank one,” the failed-hockey-player-turned-golf-pro says, setting the scene for the challenges ahead. In the sequel, Gilmore needs to raise $300,000 for his daughter’s (played by real life daughter Sunny Sandler) ballet school tuition, so he decides to take another swing at golf for the tournament cash.

Nearly three decades after the release of Happy Gilmore, a sequel is on the way — and co-star Julie Bowen is still surprised she was asked to return.
The first film follows Adam Sandler’s unlikely golf hero Happy, with Bowen as Virginia Venit, the pro golf tour PR director who serves as Happy’s love interest. The official trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 was released at Netflix’s Tudum event Saturday as Bowen told The Hollywood Reporter when she heard it was happening, “I thought, ‘Well I won’t be in it.'”
“And that was Ok — it was like Virginia Venit, it’s been 30 years, he’s got a hottie. He’s got some little bitty on the side, like a cart girl,” she said of her assumptions of Sandler’s character. “As a matter of fact my children told me, before I was even told officially that there was a Happy Gilmore sequel,...

With less than 10 minutes to go before Netflix’s fan extravaganza Tudum began streaming live from the Kia Forum on Saturday, the crowd inside the Inglewood arena was noticeably sparse and listless. More than half the seats remained empty, and those who were there weren’t buzzing with anticipation so much as they were politely hanging out. To boost everyone’s energy, a pre-show emcee turned up the music, commanded everyone to get out of their seats, and began shouting out some Netflix luminaries who were about to take the stage.
“The cast of ‘Outer Banks’ is here!” he said, to tepid applause. “The cast of ‘Stranger Things’ is here!” he continued, to moderate cheers. “Lady Gaga is here!” he concluded, and the audience, finally, began to roar.

Netflix drove a nostalgia-powered drive straight down the fairway on June 1 by unveiling the first full trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 during its Tudum livestream, confirming a July 25 global release on the service. Nearly three decades after Adam Sandler’s hot-tempered golfer changed the sports-comedy landscape, Sandler returns in senior-tour form, co-writing with longtime partner Tim Herlihy and handing directing duties to Workaholics alumnus Kyle Newacheck.
The two-minute teaser opens with Happy slicing a drive into a parking lot—echoing the 1996 film’s first act—before revealing a battered scorecard and a mortgage notice that set up a redemption arc for the now-58-year-old protagonist. Sandler recently told Travis Kelce’s podcast that the sequel “looks at what happens when the miracle run fades and real life tees off,” hinting at themes of family and regret.
