Big franchise releases are just around the corner for the summer movie season and two anticipated films for fans are the reboot to the most famous superhero of all-time and the sequel to one of the most beloved comedies ever made. Superman has been confirmed by James Gunn himself to have a runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes and debunked the rumor that Warner Bros. interfered with his cut. According to Gunn, referring to the rumor, “Zero truth to that. And they couldn’t even if that’s something that they wanted to. It’s a DC Studios film.”

The MPA just released their new ratings bulletin and one thing they are confirming that Gunn doesn’t have to is the rating according to the content in the new DC Universe debut. It can easily be predicted, but Superman has been Rated PG-13 “for violence, action and language.”

Tires season two rolled out on Netflix today, Thursday, June 5. Riding shotgun in the Shane Gillis-vehicle are his friends and creative partners for a decade, co-star/writer Steve Gerben and writer/director John McKeever. (For the sake of the analogy, picture a 1970s Chevy Bel Air front bench seat.)

Well, really, it is McKeever (who professionally goes by just “McKeever”) steering the car with Gerben navigating — or vice versa. The 6’3” Gillis is stretched out in the backseat — that’s where the celebrity goes — but he’s not merely along for the ride. We’ll stop forcing the metaphor immediately.

Jason Momoa might seem like a wrestler, but he isn't. The problem is he has the size of Dewayne Johnson and John Cena, and might seem like one of the actors of that ilk, but he is much more experienced as an actor than those former wrestlers could ever be.

Still, it's easy to only see Momoa as an action star and nothing else. He is capable of drama, but lately has been full-bore into comedy. He's good at it. Opposite Jack Black in Minecraft, Momoa is the kind of goof that is needed for the role.

Andy Samberg has always been the goof we needed in most of his comedic roles, but the trick is, like Adam Sandler, he is smarter than he might seem. That translates on the screen even when we laugh at the silly things he might do.

Luca Guadagnino is preparing to step into the world of artificial intelligence.The 52-year-old director in talks to helm a new film for Amazon MGM Studios – a project titled ‘Artificial’,described as a comedic drama which is currently in development, according to Variety.‘Artificial’ marks another collaboration between Luca and Amazon MGM Studios, following the upcoming release of ‘After the Hunt’, which stars Julia Roberts, 56, Andrew Garfield, 40, and Ayo Edebiri, 28. That film is set to arrive in cinemas on 10 October. Luca also worked with the studio on last year’s ‘Challengers’, starring Zendaya, 27, Mike Faist, 32, and Josh O’Connor, 34.Simon Rich, 39, is writing the script for ‘Artificial’ and will produce the film. He is joined by David Heyman, 62, and Jeffrey Clifford, with Jennifer Fox, 58, also in discussions to produce. Plot details remain under wraps, but sources confirmed to Variety the film will explore themes around artificial intelligence through a comedic lens.

It’s official—Happy Gilmore is back, and honestly, it feels like the perfect movie to bring back to hit nostalgia. After nearly three decades, Adam Sandler is stepping back onto the green, and this time, he’s bringing a whole new generation along for the ride. The first trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 dropped on June 1, and it’s already creating a lot of buzz around the movie.

The trailer packs in everything you’d hope for—classic one-liners, some surprising new faces, and yes, a hilariously aggressive Happy, just that he is significantly older. And looking at the trailer, things seem hopeful, as the movie is not just riding the nostalgic wave, but is also adding to it. This sequel looks like more than just a simple return. It builds on the original’s legacy with fresh energy, wild moments, and, of course, some classic Adam Sandler-type comedy.

These days, streaming services are overrun with content. There are pretty much hundreds of new shows released each month, and it's impossible to keep up with all of them. Our watch lists have become stocked with limited series that can often leave us thinking, "Well, that could have been a movie." It's reminiscent of the phrase, "This meeting could have been an email."

While some shows should have been movies instead, there are other shows that perfectly capture the essence of a movie. That's how I felt watching Stick, the new Apple TV+ comedy series starring Owen Wilson that premiered on June 4. By all accounts, this could have been an excellent sports comedy in the mid-aughts.

In the series, Wilson plays fallen professional golfer Pryce Cahill. Following a dramatic ending to his career that included a public breakdown on the green, he's working at a golf supply store and driving a beat-up yellow Corvette.

Netflix is gearing up for a wild new action comedy that brings together Jason Momoa and Andy Samberg for the first time. The global streaming platform came out on top after a heated bidding race that saw several studios and streamers competing, and now they have secured the untitled project which will be set in Momoa’s home turf, Hawaii.

Even though the storyline remains locked up tight, what’s known till now is enough to turn heads. According to Deadline, the movie pairs two powerhouses from completely different lanes with Momoa bringing his larger-than-life action presence, and Samberg, with his comedic style. Their collaboration is already generating a buzz, especially with the script being handled by Rob Klein and John Solomon, both known for their work on Saturday Night Live.

Bill Murray is heading to Croatia International Film Festival.

Murray plans to attend Ciff to screen his film, “The Friend,” which will open the fest on August 8 in Croatia’s coastal city of Sibenik.

Based on the bestselling novel by Sigrid Nunez, “The Friend” follows Iris (Naomi Watts), a writer whose life is upended when her friend and literary mentor (Murray) bequeaths her his beloved Great Dane.

Directed by Scott McGhee and David Siegel, “The Friend,” which debuted at last year’s Telluride Film Festival and then screened at Toronto, was released to North America by Bleecker Street in March.

McGhee and Siegel will also attend Ciff, a four-day event, with Murray.

Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps, but it is described as a comedic drama set in the world of artificial intelligence. Simon Rich wrote the script and will produce alongside Heyday Films’ David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford. Jennifer Fox is also in talks to produce.

The film reunites Guadagnino and Amazon MGM Studios. Few "Saturday Night Live" cast members made a bigger impact in a short period of time than Chris Farley. From his debut on the show in 1990 to his tragic passing in 1997, Farley made a name for himself with his "go for broke" commitment to physical comedy and his charming, affable personality.

Factoring in Live+7 across all platforms, the late night sketch show averaged 8.1 million viewers during the 2024-2025 television season, up +12% vs. Season 49 and marked the show’s best numbers since Season 47 (2021-2022).

A Happy Gilmore sequel is coming thanks to Netflix, Adam Sandler and others. Sandler posted a teaser of the film on Christmas.

The actor, who will reprise his role as the titular former hockey player-turned-golfer, also has hinted at several special guest stars who may appear in the sequel film. Christopher McDonald, who played antagonist Shooter McGavin in the 1996 original film, first teased word of a sequel. McDonald mentioned to Drew Barrymore and on the radio that Sandler had showed him an early script for the new film.

Mattel has combined its film and television efforts under a Mattel Studios banner headed by Robbie Brenner. Brenner, who most recently served as president of Mattel Films, has been elevated to president and chief content officer of Mattel Studios.

One of the most anticipated comedies of the summer is, of course, Happy Gilmore 2, the sequel to the beloved Adam Sandler comedy about the wannabe hockey player-turned-professional golfer who somehow wasn’t banned from the sport for life after brawling with a senior citizen in the middle of a tournament.

As evidenced by the recently-released trailer, the new movie will be absolutely crammed full of cameos from big name celebrities, including Eminem, Bad Bunny, Travis Kelce and every recognizable pro golfer who’s still alive. The first film follows Adam Sandler’s unlikely golf hero Happy, with Bowen as Virginia Venit, the pro golf tour PR director who serves as Happy’s love interest.
