Oscar-winning duo Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe are to direct and executive produce “Sk8 or Die: The Lee Ralph Story.” The upcoming series is an anthology exploring the wild and highly unique life of Lee Ralph, a former pro skateboarder turned folk hero and recluse.

Vinnie Bennett and Oscar-nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes are set to lead the cast, with Bennet portraying Ralph and Castle-Hughes playing his sister and partner in crime Kim Ralph.

The six-part show was hatched by New Zealand-based production company Tavake (“Madam”). Skateboarding ace Tony Hawk and “Jackass” touring comedian and skate culture legend, Steve-o are on board to executive produce. Free and Roe executive produce under their The Unreasnble banner.

Tavake principals Tom Hern and Halaifonua (Nua) Finau (“The Panthers,” “Red White and Brass”) co-wrote the series and will serve as showrunners. Hern will also direct some episodes. Julian Arahanga will act as a producer for Tavake.

The Jackass alum admitted he “missed the mark” on his idea to temporarily get breast implants to perform a series of pranks for his upcoming Super Dummy Tour, following a chance encounter with a stranger on the day of his scheduled procedure.

“I got within 10 hours of being in surgery for that,” Steve-o said. “The surgery was supposed to happen at eight in the morning. And 10:00 Pm the night before, I got a call that the anesthesiologist backed out of it, because he found out that it was me doing it as a stunt. And that kind of set off a chain reaction where the doctor didn’t want to be associated with it anymore, and they were having trouble finding another surgery center to to make it happen.”

The streamer will launch its docuseries Nöthin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored Story on September 17. It has also dropped the trailer for the series, which covers bands such as Guns N’ Roses, Poison, Quiet Riot and W.A.S.P.

Based on Tom Beaujour and Richard Bienstock’s book Nöthin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored History of the ’80s Hard Rock Explosion, the three-part series is directed by Jeff Tremaine, who directed Jackass and Motley Crue movie The Dirt.

Nöthin But a Good Time: The Uncensored History of the ‘80s Hair Metal is set to premiere later this year and will be based on the similarly titled book/oral history by journalists Tom Beaujour and Richard Bienstock.

Directed by Jeff Tremaine, the three-part series will dive into the hedonistic and wild world of ‘80s hard rock with interviews from Poison’s Bret Michaels, Ratt’s Stephen Pearcy, Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, Dave “Snake” Sabo of Skid Row, and MTV host Riki Rachtman, along with those who were influenced by the era such as Corey Taylor and Steve-o.

States the press release: “The series delivers a fresh and shockingly candid behind-the-scenes look at one of music’s most iconic eras. Each episode showcases the insanity and blazing ambition that has enthralled generations of music lovers and continues to influence culture to this day.
