It wasn't until I put Vamperifica into my DVD player that I realized I had been avoiding Vampire movies. Somewhere just south of all the blood and sex, Vampire movies became overdone. Of course this is no reason to completely ignore the sub-genre, but it goes without saying that we can expect some truly awful instances of Vampire horror to arise. Lucky for Vamperifica, this isn't entirely the case, as it boasts some truly original vampire development and humor. But is it enough to will me out of my too many vampires coma?

Vamperifica follows Carmen, a flamboyant college student who dreams of being a Broadway star and loves to yell about dirty whores and bitches. He gets a brutal wake-up call however, when two vampires arrive to give him unsettling news.

Fresh off its very successful run at this year's Screamfest La, we've sunken our ever-so-sharp claws into some snazzy new artwork for the latest violent vampire opus, Vamperifica (review here). Dig it!

Dread Central's coverage of the 11th annual Screamfest La Film Festival continues with our event report stemming from Tuesday night, October 18th, when we hit the carpet to bring you further eye candy and to catch the premieres of short films Hail Satan! and The Night Caller as well as the feature film Vamperifica.

It seems to me a good Vampire film is a hard thing to come by these days. Even if it has a good production value. Now, call me a quitter..but I’ve been burnt out a little bit by Vampire in recent times due to the oversaturation of it via. TV and Film. But there are a few that end up standing out of the crowd, Vamperifica being one for myself.

When you see the word flamboyant Im sure you wonder “How flamboyant?” Cause then again, this Is a Vampire, right? A killing machine of suckling decay? I dunno either.. Anyways, our main character Is actually Really flamboyant. Carmen (played by Martin Yurkovic).

This morning, we have an exclusive clip from Vamperifica from filmmaker Bruce Ornstein. The film is making playing to Screamfest audiences next week. Synopsis: Flamboyant and fabulous, twenty-something Carmen, wants nothing more than to just hang out with his best friend Tracy, be in a musical production at school, and maybe, one day, become a star! Destiny, however, has other plans for Carmen. He is the reincarnation of the 200 year old vampire king, Raven. Confronted with this knowledge and the corresponding attributes befit a vampire king , Carmen must now choose between his friends and his destiny. Not an easy decision for one so ill prepared for life as Carmen....

Vamperifica is a new horror comedy from actor and director Bruce Ornstein. The plot breaks down as follows: Carmen, a very flamboyant male, finds unique powers within himself once bitten by a night stalker. A vampire king's soul resides in Carmen and this essence will be unleashed October 14th at this year's Screamfest. Screamfest takes places in Los Angeles every year and this gory festival begins October 14th and continues until October 23rd. Vamperifica will haunt the screens and fans of vampire thrillers or comedies are encouraged to take a look at the film's trailer, which shows all sorts of comedic action. Apparently, not everyone is destined for Broadway!
