Speaking at the Seriesly Berlin TV conference in Germany, the Emmy Award-winning scribe sounded less than enthusiastic about Paramount+ With Showtime’s long-gestating follow-up to the pot dramedy. Now that weed has been legalized in nearly 40 states, “I don’t really know if there’s more story to tell,” she said, according to Deadline. “I think Weeds was done, and I think it’d be a money grab.

The Thing, Lockjaw and Zola will debut on Marvel's Spidey and His Amazing Friends before the end of the second season of the Disney Junior animated series.

Cbr can exclusively reveal the first look at the three Marvel Comics characters in Spidey and His Amazing Friends, which is the first full-length Marvel series for preschoolers. The Thing, who hasn't been seen in kids animation in a decade, will be voiced by Andy Milder. Dee Bradley Baker will voice Ms. Marvel's teleporting dog, Lockjaw, while the power-hungry robot supervillain Zola will be voiced by Trevor Devall. The addition of these new characters coincides with a new "Web-Spinners" storyline beginning in August 2023. The new episodes will also feature a brand-new opening title sequence that includes The Thing, Lockjaw and Zola.

Another player is interested in returning to Weeds. The possibility of a revival was first reported in May. Showtime is developing a revival of the popular comedy-drama series that aired on the cable network for eight seasons between 2005-12. Christian Torpe would write and executive produce the series.

Mary-Louise Parker, Elizabeth Perkins, Hunter Parrish, Kevin Nealon, Alexander Gould, Justin Kirk, Andy Milder, Allie Grant, and Romany Malco starred in the original series. Parker is set to return for the new incarnation. The original comedy follows housewife and mom Nancy Botwin (Parker) as she finds creative ways to support her family after the death of her husband. The revival would reportedly take Nancy to Copenhagen.

If the long-gestating Weeds Revival gets the green light, another original star is interested in stepping back into the world of Nancy Botwin.

Elizabeth Perkins appeared in five of eight seasons during the show's initial run on Showtime.

In an interview with Variety, Perkins stressed that the new project was very much "talk" at this early stage in development.

The Afterparty Season 2 star admitted she would be ecstatic to get the opportunity to work with her former co-stars.

"I loved working with Mary-Louise Parker," she added.

"I love those two characters together, Nancy and Celia!"

Indeed, fans would be interested in checking back in with Celia, who was missing from the show's final three seasons.

By the end of Weeds' eight-season run, the series had changed so much that many of the original elements of the show were missing.

With the advent of streaming platforms at each of the major studios or entertainment companies, late sequels, remakes, and revivals have become an everyday thing. After reviving other network classics, Showtime announces the returns of Weeds and Nurse Jackie with revivals that will continue the original stories.

Deadline confirms that Lionsgate Television is actively working with Showtime to bring back two of its most acclaimed series, which ended more than 10 years ago. At the moment, no more details have been shared as both projects are in the early stages of development, but the outlet revealed that actresses Edie Falco and Mary-Louise Parker will return to star in each of the respective revivals.

Weeds and Nurse Jackie will join Showtime's list of returning shows such as Dexter: New Blood, which won't continue after a single installment but already has a prequel series in development. Other recent returns include Queer as Folk,...

As has been teased for several years, a return to the world of Weeds is in the works.

Initially, a sequel series was in the works at Starz, and now, the revival is set to sprout at Showtime.

Deadline says the series is in early development but that Mary Louise Parker is set to return to headline and executive produce.

Additionally, Showtime is also working on an update of Nurse Jackie, with Edie Falco in line to return.

The Weeds sequel will be written and executive produced by Christian Torpe, creator of the popular Danish series Rita, and would feature Nancy (Parker) in Copenhagen, the outlet reports.

Both series are said to be on the fast-track, with an eye of getting them on the air as early as quarter one of 2024.

However, the deals are still being ironed out, and a potential pickup could be contingent on what happens with the Writers Strike.

Word of a Weeds revival is sprouting again, this time at Showtime.

Exclusive Updated: Showtime is looking to bring back two of its signature comedy series, Nurse Jackie and Weeds. Both hail from Lionsgate Television and former Showtime chief Robert Greenblatt who has a deal at the indie studio.

Reps for Showtime and Lionsgate would not comment but I hear the followups, now in early stages of development, have the original leads, Edie Falco and Mary-Louise Parker, attached to star and executive produce. Sources stress that the projects are still coming together and deals are being negotiated.

The Weeds revival would be written and executive produced by Christian Torpe, creator of the popular Danish series Rita, and would feature Nancy (Parker) in Copenhagen, I hear.

Meanwhile, I hear the Nurse Jackie sequel would be written/executive produced by Abe Sylvia and Liz Flahive who were writers-producers on the original series. The concept is still being finalized.

It’s been nearly four years since we learned that a “Weeds” sequel series was in the works. When Variety exclusively broke the news of the revival in 2019, which was then at Starz, Mary-Louise Parker was set to executive produce and reprise her role as Nancy Botwin in the potential new series. But Justin Kirk, who played her charming and unfiltered brother-in-law Andy Botwin, isn’t so sure about it.

“Even as a fan, do you really want to see us all old and coming back? By the time of Season 8, I don’t think the general idea was, ‘We should keep doing this!'” he told Variety. “Look, I love those people, I love that character. I probably know as much as you do about any future reboots.”

DC Comics fans and lovers of animated TV shows are going to want to jump on this. It was announced this week that Warner Bros. will be bringing home Legion of Superheroes on Blu-ray for the first time ever. Starz boss Jeffrey Hirsch rolled up a few hints about the forthcoming reboot of the Mary-Louise Parker drama Weeds.

Hirsch, president and CEO at the Lionsgate-backed broadcaster, said Tuesday at the TCA winter press tour that there’s a “ton of great stories” to be told given that the world of cannabis has changed significantly since the show debuted in 2005.

Speaking during his exec session, Hirsch told Deadline, “Weeds is in development and I’m pretty excited about Lionsgate putting together a great package. Mary is obviously a great actor. The world of cannabis has changed significantly so there’s a ton of story to be told so we’re excited to see what Lionsgate comes up with for that show.”

Starz is working on a sequel series to Weeds, the Showtime series starring Mary Louise-Parker that ran for eight seasons from 2005-12. The news was revealed on Starz owner Lionsgate’s second-quarter earnings call Thursday.

Lionsgate TV produced the original series, which was created by Jenji Kohan. Louise-Parker is attached to executive produce and star in the new project, which Lionsgate says is in development. The reboot picks up with the Botwin family 10 years after the events of the original series in an era of marijuana legalization. Victoria Morrow is the writer/executive producer.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said during the call that Weeds and fellow Lionsgate TV series Mad Men will also be taken into the syndication marketplace next year.

(Hunter Parrish and Alexander Gould) who begins selling marijuana to support her family after her husband’s death.

Just when you thought Weeds was cashed, the Emmy Award-winning dark comedy is being relit. Mary-Louise Parker, who played suburban drug dealer Nancy Botwin in the long-running Showtime series, is reportedly attached to the new project as a star and an executive producer, TVLine’s sister publication Variety reports. The new series would pick up 10 years after Weeds originally ended.

Victoria Morrow, who wrote and co-ep’d the original series, is expected to write and executive-produce the revival. Series creator Jenji Kohan, however, is not yet attached.

Let's just say if you have a thing about eyes being pinned open, Criminal Minds was right up your alley this week. Ewww.

On a scale of 1 to skin-crawlingly uncomfortable, this particular Un-Sub had a calling card that was off the charts creepy. I'm still a bit traumatized, I can't lie. Andy Milder guest starred in "Proof," and pretty much scared the be-jesus out of me and anyone with an eye phobia. Or a tongue one, for that matter. I know this show is about people being capable of the worst atrocities, but sometimes I wish those atrocities came with a little less creative license.

Apart from Milder's depiction of mentally-challenged suspect Cy - which, let's be honest, was acting at its not-so-finest  - this episode was decent. But not amazing. Cy's speech issues were forced at best and at times it was really unsettling to watch him mimic the developmentally disabled.

Dillon Casey, who has been recurring on the current second season of the CW drama Nikita, playing new Division operative Sean Pierce, has now been promoted to a series regular status. He is with Sdb and Luber Roklin. Tony winner Sutton Foster has been cast as the lead in Amy Sherman-Palladino’s ABC Family pilot Bunheads. The project, which Sherman-Palladino wrote and is expected to direct, centers on Michelle (Foster), a Las Vegas showgirl who impulsively marries a man, moves to his sleepy coastal town, and takes an uneasy role at her new mother-in-law’s dance school. Cameron Goodman has been cast in Cartoon Network’s untitled comedy pilot from Everybody Hates Chris creator and Are We There Yet? developer Ali Leroi and Ice Cube’s Cube Vision. The seventh season of Criminal Minds is coming Sept. 21st. We also hear Joe Mantegna’s character takes a “painful trip down memory lane” in the coming season.

He made a surprising appearance on Weeds a few weeks back (below) and now Andy Milder is set to make an unusual appearance on Criminal Minds.

The actor will guest star on a fall episode of the CBS hit as a mentally-challenged character named Cy. Look for this man to play a key role in a Bau investigation that centers around a creepy thief.

In 2011, Milder has played roles on Parks and Recreation, The Middle and Bones. Not a shabby resume.

The actor will play a mentally challenged man named Cy who figures into one of the creepier cases the Bau team has faced — and that’s saying something. (Hint: The perp-of-the-week robs his/her victims of something very unusual.)

In addition to Weeds, Milder currently recurs on Parks and Recreation (as Snakehole Lounge owner Freddy) and The Middle (as Principal Sholin).

The episode also features a guest turn by Boardwalk Empire‘s Tracy Middendorf.

Andy Milder has been upped to a series regular on Showtime's Weeds for the dark comedy's upcoming third season.

Additionally, Milder is expected to land a supporting role in Ron Howard's feature adaptation of the play Frost/Nixon

Milder has been recurring on Weeds, playing Dean Hodes, legal counsel for the suburban drug cartel and husband to Celia Hodes (Elizabeth Perkins).

"Frost/Nixon" will reunite Milder with Howard. The actor had a role in Howard's Apollo 13, which he also reprised on HBO's miniseries From the Earth to the Moon, which Howard produced.

Milder, who next appears in the feature Transformers, is repped by the Stone Manners Agency, manager Larry Hummel and attorney Darren Trattner.
