Ted White’s son shares a fun story from the set of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
Kevin Bacon, Adrienne King, Ari Lehman, Robbi Morgan, Betsy Palmer, and Jeannine Taylor in Freitag, der 13. (1980)
One of my favorite entries in my favorite franchise, the Friday the 13th sequel Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter features stuntman Ted White as the hockey-masked horror icon Jason Voorhees, and he is widely considered to be one of the best Jason performers in the entire series. Sadly, White passed away in 2022 at the age of 96 – but well before he passed away, he provided the foreword for his son Michael Bayouth’s memoir In the Shadows of Giants: True Stories From The Son of a Hollywood Stuntman, which is available for purchase at This Link. To promote the book, Bayouth recently shared an excerpt that tells a fun story from the set of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. You can check it out below.

2024 marks the 40th anniversary of one of my favorite entries in my favorite franchise: the Friday the 13th sequel Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter – and to mark the occasion, Paramount Scares and Fangoria have teamed up to bring the movie back to theatres as part of the Scream Greats series! Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter will be showing in theatres today (that’s September 10th), with more showings to follow on Sunday, September 15th… and yes, of course, some theatres will be showing the movie this Friday as well, since it happens to be a Friday the 13th. Check ParamountScares.com to find out if Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter will be showing at a theatre near you!

One of Friday the 13th's Best Sequels Returns to Theaters 40 Years Later
Image
Jason Voorhees will soon be resurfacing at Crystal Lake. The fourth installment of the masked murderer's movie series, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, is coming back to theaters to mark the slasher sequel's 40th anniversary.

Per Fangoria and Paramount Scares, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter will be returning to select theaters for a limited time on Sept. 10 and Sept. 15. Additionally, special showings will be held on Sept. 13, which just so happens to be a Friday the 13th. The return to theaters will allow horror fans a chance to catch the sequel on the big screen if they've never done so before, allowing filmgoers to watch the sequel it was first seen when it was released in theaters on April 13, 1984, which, of course, fell on a Friday.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter steelbook Blu-ray release coming in January
Image
For the last few years, Paramount has been giving the Friday the 13th movies they released in the 1980s 40th anniversary steelbook Blu-ray releases. The original Friday the 13th got its steelbook release in 2020, and you can pick that up Here. Friday the 13th Part 2 got its steelbook release in 2021, and you can buy that one at This Link. Friday the 13th Part III followed its predecessors in 2022, and you can get that steelbook Here. There was no Friday the 13th movie released in 1983, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter didn’t come along until ’84, so I was wondering if Paramount was going to wait an extra year to release a steelbook for that one… and the answer is no. Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter is getting a steelbook Blu-ray release for its 39th anniversary, and it’s already available for pre-order on Amazon!

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Freitag, der 13. Teil 4 - Das letzte Kapitel (1984)
Released in 1984, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (watch it Here) has one of the most inaccurate titles ever… which is easy to forgive when the movie also happens to be one of the best slashers ever made. Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter is also the focus of the latest episode of our video series Real Slashers, which you can watch in the embed above!

Directed by Joseph Zito from a screenplay by Barney Cohen (with Bruce Hidemi Sakow receiving story credit), Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter has the following synopsis:

The body count continues in this vivid thriller, the fourth — and final? — story in the widely successful Friday the 13th series. Jason, Crystal Lake’s least popular citizen, returns to wreak further havoc in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. After his revival in a hospital morgue, the hockey-masked murderer fixes his vengeful attention on the Jarvis...

13 Reasons Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter Was So Lucky
Tony Sokol Apr 13, 2019

Jason Voorhees lost his head, but got a stay of execution in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.

Friday the 13th has been considered unlucky since October 1307 when King Philip IV of France ordered the executions of all of the Knights Templars because God was “not pleased.” It was a bloody beginning to a long tradition.

But not every Friday the Thirteenth is unfortunate, no matter how much blood gets spilled. For example, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter was very lucky.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter was supposed to close the franchise begun by the 1980 low budget proto-slasher movie Friday the 13th, which was directed by Sean S. Cunningham, written by Victor Miller and was separated by no degrees from Kevin Bacon. But it wasn’t so lucky. The son of a bitch gave us something to remember him by.

The 1984 sequel (the fourth in...

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (Deluxe Edition) - DVD Review
The final chapter? Yeah, right. As long as old hockey face keeps raking in the dough we.re stuck with him. The production thought it was Jason.s last stand so Tom Savini was brought back in to do the old boy in. You can.t keep a cash cow down though. After the massacre in part 3D, Jason Voorhees. (an uncredited Ted White) body is taken to the morgue. However, there.s some life left in the old boy and he rises from the slab and kills the morgue attendant (Bruce Mahler) and a nurse (Lisa Freeman) before making his way back to Crystal Lake. Paul (Alan Hayes), Sam (Judie Aronson), Sara (Barbara Howard), Doug (Peter Barton), Ted (Lawrence Monoson), and Jimmy...

Blu-Ray Review: Jason Voorhees Returns in Killer Cut of ‘Friday the 13th’
Chicago – The reboot of “Friday the 13th” was another financially successful notch in the belt of Platinum Dunes, the film company behind the remakes of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “The Hitcher,” and “The Amityville Horror”. Making $90 million worldwide and more domestically than any previous Jason Voorhees movie (that didn’t include Freddy Krueger), “Friday the 13th” has a following that will be ecstatic with the excellent Blu-Ray release for the slasher title.

Blu-Ray Rating: 3.5/5.0 The Blu-Ray of “Friday the 13th” delivers everything fans could ask for. Not only do they present a longer and better cut of the film in the 9-minutes-longer “Extended Cut,” but the special features enhance the “Friday the 13th” experience and the technical transfer is nearly flawless.

Friday the 13th was released on Blu-Ray on June 16th, 2009.

As for the film itself, my response to “Friday the 13th” is mixed at best. I love...
