Set in the hinterland of the Indian Himalaya, Avatara explores multiple encounters of local farmers with the child goddess of the higher reaches. From bold male exorcists to meditative dreamer-tillers working the fertile valley soil, the meetings with the goddess are transient and intuitive events that tear at the senses. Quick to anger and ever thirsty for sacrifices, the goddess haunts her followers in these multiple manifestations, which ultimately hold the key for creation and, for those lucky enough to see her, a short lived salvation.
