A pastor and his wife adopt a brother and a sister, but the girl has terrible outbursts of rage. They get her in treatment and try to find out the reason for this.

Although this movie is about Playboy magazine, there are no erotic scenes. Instead it tells the story of three women, who seem to have nothing in common: Abigail is a college student at Yale and is the daughter of one of the professors; Meredith is a married mother and is the owner of a bowling alley; Janet is a successful broker - yet all of them decide to pose for the adult magazine, shocking their peers, friends and co-workers. They have to suffer the consequences, but manage to turn it into a precious experience of life.

Based on a true story, an eleven year old boy left home alone, kills two intruders in self defense. He and his family then try to cope with the boy's anguish and the dead intruders' friends who want revenge.
