A Scottish travel writer is forced to stay in an Asturian village where he discovers a new world, and begins a friendship with Federico, a country man, who believes the Kyoto agreement will close down the nearby power plant, that is polluting the valley.

Fran is an almost-40-year-old hypochondriac who has lived half of his life swallowing pills. He's waiting for the results of his last medical check, convinced that this time his illness will be irreversible. He decides to make a pause and get back to his roots, leaving Madrid and rediscovering his homeland: Asturias.

August, 1995. Fourteen miners died in the mining pit San Nicolás. Soon, a group of widows spoke to the camera in the documentary "Solas en la tierra", with testimonies of a moving sincerity. Twenty five years later, "Lámpara oscura" tries to recover that past from the perspective of the present.

He decides to make a pause and get back to his roots, leaving Madrid and rediscovering his homeland: Asturias. This 3-episode mini-series is an extended version of the film "Todo el tiempo del mundo", developing several situations that give us a better approach to Fran's psychology, the people he meets and the wonderful locations from Asturias. In the first episode he meets an eccentric taxi driver that seems to drive him nowhere. In the second episode, Fran tries to find a job with hilarious consequences. In the third one, we assist to his unfortunate relations with women.

In this following to "Aquí el Paraíso", a new leading character appears: Antuña, an actor who has found his own paradise in an abandoned cowshed. He will try to enjoy his isolation from society, but the paradise isn't what he expected. Soon he will be surrounded by conflictive people who will get him into surrealistic situations.

Grullos and Antuña, two old friends, meet in a hospital where they share room. Life goes on and when they get out of the hospital they take different paths. One has things to finish off and the other wants to make up for lost time. But soon they realize that almost nobody remembers or is willing to do them a favor. It is said that life puts everyone in place; and so does with these characters when they find out that each one looking after his own gets nothing. They decide to undertake a survival and picaresque adventure together trying to live life as best as they can.

Following "Solas en la Tierra", the title with which the filmmaker delved into the lives of the widows of the Pozu Nicolasa mining tragedy, he now returns to explore the experiences of these courageous women, who stand as symbols of unity and resilience, in a two-part miniseries.
