Katharina's father provides ample funds for her and Benjamin to travel to Cuba and search for Katharina's missing brother Wanja. They take Judith along on an odyssey that ultimately forces them to challenge their values and ways of life.

It's the late 1980s in Cuba, and in an isolated ranch in a small town near Santa Clara, lives Vilma, a young nurse who dreams of a better place to raise her upcoming baby, along with her disabled husband Ivan. However, neither her skills as a nurse nor as a shooter will free Vilma from her harsh reality until a natural phenomena sweeps her away and Vilma wakes up in a place where it seems her dream will come true.

A group of Cuban migrants has its plans to change destiny frustrated. Stranded in Panama City, images of the Cuban Revolution and of the difficult passage through the Darien Jungle come to life on their cell phones.

Regina and Mauricio's long voyage dates back to when and how they met and fell in love, in the Utopian Cuba of the 1980s. During the couple's journey, there is an allusion to the opposition of Regina's father, who decided to disown the union with a mulatto from a poor family. Despite the many prejudices and obstacles, Regina and Mauricio stayed together for more than 35 years.
