This mini series is based on a true life story and is brought to life by s very good cast of actors. I first heard about this story in Docu series on Netflix that I watched. I was amazed and shocked at first watch- needless to say, when I heard about this mini series, I just had to watch it. It did not disappoint! It was good. The cast was fantastic and the series really pulls you into this families twisted world of no accountability, greed and entitlement, which eventually catches up to them and ends in the worst way possible. Some might even argue that they got what they deserved. For those of you that enjoy these types of real life stories, this is a must watch for you.
This was a well done series. Hard to believe the actor play Alex is Australian. I'm not an expert on regional American accents but it was passable for sure. This whole family were entitled people. They all needed a slap into reality. I love my boys, but I sure wouldn't treat them like they did. Never owning up to actions only makes them entitled. I can't imagine having all that money and power and using it for all the wrong reasons. Great series, moved along well. All the actors were great except the one that played Paul. Just didn't fit the real guy. Just an aside, Jason Clarke would be great at playing Trump in a movie or series.
Murdaugh: Death in the Family is a true crime story that's been pretty popular since it happened back in 2021. The Murdaugh family is a wealthy powerful family in South Carolina because of the legal dynasty they created. After their troubled son Paul is involved in a deadly boat crash their lives get turned upside down. Like almost every review here has already pointed out Jason Clarke is captivating in the lead role of Alex Murdaugh. Even if you know this story and everything that happened you'll still be entertained by this series but if you don't know the story it will be just that much better.
I will start by saying I have no knowledge of this real story and cannot speak to accuracy. What I will say is it is a slow burn and intriguing look at the dynamics of money, power, addiction, dysfunction and the truth behind the headlines. Yes, it is a dramatization, but it is peeling away a facade that it seems the family was trying to keep in place, even among each other. I am avoiding researching the true events to stay engaged with the process. I will say that whether or not a true depiction of the real person (I have no reference point), Clarke is extraordinary and I feel worthy of an Emmy.
We all know the story as presented on live TV, a Netflix series and countless podcasts and articles, but Jason Clarke's depiction of Alex Murdaugh was definitely the highlight of the series, for moi
Clarke transformed into the character and his excellent supporting cast, especially Patricia Arquette, enhanced his performance making the entire production feel genuine, factual and artistic.
It's a frightening, breathtaking true story. Hats off to Hulu for a great production on something we all now know too much about 👏🏽

- TriviaThe Murdaugh family was prominent in a sub-region of South Carolina known as The Low-Country, which is basically the combined coastal areas surrounding Charleston and Hilton Head Island, SC, and Savannah, GA. The name refers to the region's terrain, which is entirely flat and at/near sea-level. While the preponderance of events depicted in the series occurred in The Low-Country, most of the show was actually filmed in the areas surrounding Atlanta, GA (approx. 300 miles west of where the events actually took place).
