After 16 years in the shadows, BLEAK storms back with THE WAVE — a straight-cut rock track forged from decades of grit, missteps, and rebirth. Written in 1994 and unleashed in 2025, it’s raw, urgent, and unfiltered.
Born in the cold North of Rovaniemi, Finland, the band first emerged in the late 90s as the Finnish counterpart to “Sheol,” formed by the group’s original guitarist and frontman Caleb Daniel Lit — the voice, rhythm guitarist, and driving creative force: writing, producing, and pushing BLEAK forward since day one.
After the original guitarist left amicably, two bad calls on who filled that space sent the whole thing sideways. In 2009, after years of internal friction, Lit pulled the plug on BLEAK.
What followed wasn’t silence but evolution. Lit pushed forward with FIREAL, now INKAKAI — an anonymous international collective. Yet some spirit of the past kept calling him. In 2018, Lit and the original guitarist cracked open a vault of demos — and something sparked back to life. Under the name Sons of She’ol, they rebuilt quietly. No baggage. No dead weight.
By 2024, BLEAK had razed the whole thing to the ground and built it back up from the bones. They re-emerged with a sharpened lineup and a raw, renewed sound. THE WAVE captures all that: two guitarists trading solos, Lit’s fierce vocal delivery at the core, and a sonic collision of ’90s grit, Middle Eastern color, and Seattle-bred intensity.
