St. Petersburg pianist and composer Gleb Kolyadin is recognized as one of the prominent figures in contemporary instrumental music. Combining classical piano education and impressive performing experience, he composes exquisite melodic works that transcend the boundaries of modernism, neoclassical, minimalism, fusion-jazz, and art-rock.
This broad stylistic spectrum allows Kolyadin to pursue diverse creative projects. As a member of Iamthemorning, whose album won Best Album of the Year at the 2016 Prog Music Awards in the UK, he performs dreamy chamber-prog music.
His first solo release came out on Kscope, a major trendsetter of smart melodic music, releasing Tangerine Dream, Marillion and Steven Wilson. The album received glowing reviews in media, and was shortlisted for the Progressive Music Awards in two categories – Album of the Year and Artist of the Year.
Theatre music and multidisciplinary projects are a huge part of Kolyadin’s artistry - he wrote music for dozens of theatre productions.
In 2021, Kolyadin released Water Movements, a collection of neoclassical pieces with a soundtrack and minimalistic style. The Outland (2022) blended jazz-fusion influences and featured prog legends Gavin Harrison and Tony Levin.
His upcoming album, Mobula, releases February 28, 2025, combining folk and electronic elements with contemporary classical influences. Kolyadin also shares piano sketches - sonic moodboards - as part of his ongoing musical diary, poloniumcubes.
