Oh jeez. This was a mess. This was the first book in this series to actually have a plot, but it was the most awkward jumble of half-formed ideas that I’ve ever read. There was so much going on that none of the storylines were dealt with in a way that went deeper than surface level. In particular, the part with Thanatos was completely pointless. He was there to basically (view spoiler). The way his character was dealt with was so anti-climactic— here one second and gone the next. Along those lines, I also had a huge problem with what happened to John. (view spoiler). I’m sorry, but I just didn’t buy into that situation at all and it kept nagging me throughout the entire book.

Overall, I did have fun reading this, but I have to admit that most of how this was written was horrible. I’m just generally confused by all the things that went down. In terms of the ending itself, I thought that it was a little too conveniently wrapped up. While I know that seems like a stupid thing to complain about, the fact that everything worked out perfectly for everyone came off kind of forced and unrealistic to me.
