An incredible book that gives you everything you’d ever want in a stand-alone fantasy. I love how this story was split up into 4 distinct parts. We had a fun YA-feeling section at the magical academy (felt very Hogwarts in the best way), but then we also were able to see our characters 10 years later as their problems become more adult, dark & real world.
Not only did I LOVE the characters (Eddie, I will stand by you forever), but the themes and messages were so strong throughout the story. Showing divides in gender equality & class at these academic environments. And also portraying the greed in humans, how people can sometimes feel like they can take what isn’t theirs to take.
Beautifully written, an underhyped fantasy for sure. Absolutely adored this.
