Home Comforts: The Art and Science of Keeping House

This isn’t really a book that you read cover to cover or ever really finish. As someone who is cleanliness-challenged, I found this book both inspiring and instructive. This is no trad-wife fad book - it’s about getting at the heart of what role the home plays in your family’s lives and how to cultivate an atmosphere that is welcoming, warm, and functional. In the author’s opinion, all those qualities necessitate a minimal level of cleanliness. Never shaming & full of wisdom, the author passes along minute information about the finer points of cleaning as well as broader insights about the soul of a home. As someone who has always abhorred most aspects of “keeping house” I found this book personally revolutionizing my attitude and perspective toward my home.
