it was ok
bookshelves: booktok-you-lied, twenty-four

To be honest, I found it to be your typical romance book that is a relaxed read, which pretty much summarises my likings. However, the plot was unique but it felt completely rushed in a way a twelve-year-old might've written a wattpad fanfiction, though it was a creative set-up and it had enabled me to identify another genre for this book.

Overall, I felt that this book had a good storyline but the writing was bland, though may I add that there were some phrases mentioned that I had physically cringed by shutting the book and pacing around the room for a while to decrease the utter second-hand embarrassment I received. An example of a line I had slammed the book shut to was: "You’re about to find out what happens when you invite yourself into the lion’s den." Could you have worded it any better, please?

Another point I'd like to add is the characters. I don't mind Ava's character because she accurately resembles a bubbly and positive person, or in simpler terms, likeable. And that is the complete opposite of Alex Volkov. If he is anything, he is unlikeable. Can I have a moment to rant about how much I personally strongly dislike Alex? He thinks he's tough shit but he isn't, he's like those 'sigma males' that revolve their personality around being cold and some sort of lone wolf. He doesn't believe in love or something like that, yet he follows Ava around like a lapdog when she's in London, and do not get me started with his little gig at her exhibition, what is this, Ginny and Georgia? In what world does somebody stalk and follow a girl who dumped him for using her and then fly out to London and force himself into her new life in a new city? I cannot.

In conclusion, I liked the book because the language was easy to understand and it was relaxing. However, I felt as if the creative plot was presented dryly and blandly, which decreased my attention dedicated towards this book but what pissed me off the most were the characters, where Alex Volkov is shown to be a narcissistic and annoying cunt while Ava is gullible and easily-forgiving, but she did show girl power by telling Alex to fuck off though she does live up to being a 'sunshiny' person.

So, 2 stars for this book and my rankings of the Twisted series:
1. Twisted Games
2. Twisted Lies
3. Twisted Hate
4. Twisted Love
