Although it does read like Dylan spoke into a tape recorder, and a clever editor tweaked and chronographed it - and it ends just when you want it to really get going (leading me to think the same clever editor figured they'd do two volumes, and is perhaps waiting until Dylan's obit to release volume 2) - and I really really wanted to read about the electric years - all that being said, this is a story surprisingly well told. Dylan's musings on music, his encyclopedic knowledge of his craft and the history of blues and his own parts in it, are well worth the price.
