IR is rather a large group, but I was wondering if I'm the only one who reads LGBT theme books?

Lefthandedbibliophile | 5078 comments there are a couple of readers here, who do

message 3: by Akanksha (new)

Akanksha Chattopadhyay (akanksha_chattopadhyay) | 1129 comments There are many, I think. I am one of them.

It would be fun to chat with other Indian readers. Most of the people I talk to about this genre of books are from other countries.

I can suggest a lot of wonderful books from this genre if anyone is interested. I always remember books that touch me or wants other people to read it too.

Two years back i used to run in opposite direction. But since then I have read a few and quite like them..

Boy meets boy
Autoboyography
Tell the Wolves I am home
Simon and ... (I also forgot the next words)
Aristotle and Dante discovered the secrets of Universe

There must be others too but I remember only these now.

What are your favorites from this genre?

I'm definitely going to read 'Tell the wolves I'm home' now! It seems like a good one.

It's okay. I do want to suggest just one book though. "Her name in the Sky" by Kelly Quindley. It's a YA coming out story. And I suggest this because when I first read it, all I wanted to do was asked my parents to read it.

People mostly put YA or NA in lgbt... MM they make another category. That's what I have observed. So didn't mention Green Creek here...

Those would be the one where the protags identify with alternate sexuality or genders linked with coming of age tropes (which I avoid!)

Simon and the Homo Sapien Agenda!! This one is quite popular!
Hmm.. favourites will be a little hard to tell. I've a lot. Like for me I read every genre with lesbian protagonist so for each genre there will be at least a few favs.! Just to mention one "The Moment" by T.C. Anderson, I cried the whole time I was reading it. Not just the angst part, the story was really really sweet.

It isn't mandatory at all. Anyone can comment. There are lots of straight people who enjoys reading books of this genre.

@Manu I understood that only
this thread is about LGBT... I have barely read a couple of such books.. but both were Good!.
Perhaps will ask the thread creator ....or perhaps one of us mods will tweak the title to indicate it is books, not people per se 😂

I could do with recommendations. Lesbian fiction, as I have encountered it, has some exponential names, but it seems to fall rather sharply short of literature by/about gay men. I need to expand my horizons. :)

Lol! I'll pretty much stay clear of that horizon. I couldn't enjoy the chemistry of the MCs! Tried it ones, not a fan.
I would like to know some of your favourites. I would be fun to compare books!

I'll try some of them and see if I enjoy it this time.
Though I would like to suggest some lesbian fictions which I think you would enjoy that isn't short of literature(at least I thought so!). Try books written by Sarah Waters. Annie on My Mind by Nancy Garden is one of my favourites.

I have read the staple lot. Waters and Winterson and Rita Mae Brown and the likes. Sarah Waters is great. Winterson too. I remember browsing through Annie on My Mind. YA isn't my forte but I'll check it out.

Wow.. you are an old soul! When I started reading lesbian fictions, YA fictions used to be my favourite. Now, any book as long as it's good.
