Somyu

Jung SeungYong, somyu, is Melodic/Progressive House producer. He is from Cheonan, South Korea. He started learning piano and traditional Korean percussion instruments when he was 9. Thanks to his proficiency in various percussion instruments, he was part of the Cheonan Student Korean Traditional Orchestra for a short period. After leaving the orchestra, he developed an interest in Digital Audio Workstations (DTM) and began collaborating with people from ‘Trance Union,’ a non-commercial Korean label and community. This marked his transition from a performer to a producer and artist. Since then, he has learned about electronic music, including melodic house and deep house, from members of the Korean community, shaping who he is today.
