This chapter examines the local traditions (through Pausanias and Theognis), discourse environment, and positionality of Megara to establish abstract principles of the Megarian worldview, and then applies those principles to the local traditions in an attempt to present a cohesive account of Megarian myths from the earliest mythistorical times to the beginning of oligarchic government. An important discovery resulting from this is the general avoidance of all things Corinthian in Megarian narrative traditions.

ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ: Το παραμύθι της σιωπηλής πριγκίπισσας (το οποίο ο Γ. Μέγας ταξινόμησε ως ελληνικό οικότυπο με αριθμό ΑΤ* 852, ενώ εδώ προτείνουμε να
ταξινομηθεί ως ATU 945) είναι μια σύνθετη ιστορία που αποτελείται από μια
αφήγηση-πλαίσιο και τρεις, συνήθως, εγκιβωτισμένες ιστορίες, που «συνομιλούν»
με την πρώτη. Η πλοκή υφαίνεται πάνω στο δίπολο Έρωτας/Θάνατος. Γύρω από
αυτό το βασικό θέμα οι δύο χαρακτήρες, ο νεαρός και η πριγκίπισσα, δρουν αντιθετικά. Εκείνος τη βλέπει και την επιθυμεί– εκείνη δεν έχει καμία ερωτική επι
θυμία. Εκείνος ταξιδεύει μακριά από τον τόπο του για να τη βρει– εκείνη είναι
κλεισμένη στο δωμάτιό της/ στον εαυτό της. Η επικοινωνία μεταξύ τους είναι
αδύνατη και σε κάθε προσπάθεια του ήρωα να αποσπάσει μια δική της λέξη, η
ηρωίδα γίνεται επιθετική και καταστροφική. Είναι εξάλλου μία επικίνδυνη μορφή
αφού θανατώνονται όλοι όσοι την επιθυμούν αν δεν καταφέρουν να την κάνουν
να μιλήσει. Όταν όμως λέγονται εκείνες οι ιστορίες/ερωτήματα που απαιτούν τη
δική της συμμετοχή και προοπτική, η σιωπή αρχίζει να σπάει. Η ιστορία της σιωπηλής βασιλοπούλας, στις διάφορες εκδοχές της, είναι μια ιστορία για την αναγκαιότητα της ισότιμης ερωτικής επικοινωνίας. Είναι επίσης μια μετα-αφήγηση
για τη δύναμη του λόγου και της ίδιας της παραμυθιακής αφήγησης. Και, κυρίως,
μια διήγηση για τη νίκη της αγάπης επί του θανάτου.

In ihrem Streitwagen fährt die Göttin der Klugheit vom Olymp zum Schlachtfeld vor Troia und dann gemeinsam mit Diomedes gegen den Kriegsgott. Daß mehr dahinter liegt als ein poetischer Einfall und Homer kultische Realität dichterisch gestaltet, erkannte bereits Walter Burkert. Beobachtungen von Prods Oktor Skjaervø und Gernot Windfuhr erlauben es Michael Janda nunmehr, in mythenvergleichender Perspektive und durch sprachwissenschaftliche Namensanalysen die Herausbildung des Mythos so nachzuvollziehen, daß aus dem gewonnenen Bild auch prägende Ereignisse in Athenes Biographie und ihre seltsamen Attribute eine überraschende Deutung erfahren: das magische Ziegenfell Aigis an ihrer Schulter, das Emblem der Eule, die Geburt aus dem Haupt des "Himmels" Zeus und die Wagenfahrt mit einem Helden, der den "Rausch des Himmels" sein eigen nennt. Einbezogen sind auch die Wagenfahrerinnen Ashi und Parendi des Avesta, die vedische Göttin Purandhi, jener ziegengestaltige indogermanische Gott, der Pan und dem vedischen Pushan vorausgeht, und der Kriegsgott Ares.

Kihnu saar ja selle kultuuriruum, mis on 2003. aastast kantud UNESCO suulise ja vaimse pärandi meistriteoste nimekirja, on üks omanäolisemaid kultuuripiirkondi Eestis. Sügavalt juurdunud traditsioonilise eluviisi tõttu pakub Kihnu kultuur jätkuvat ja mitmekülgset uurimismaterjali etnograafidele ja folkloristidele. Kihnu saarel on tänapäevani elujõulisena säilinud rahvarõivaste kandmise traditsioon, mille aluseks on püsiv käsitöö tegemise harjumus ja oskus. Kihnu riiete traditsiooni hoiavad elus kogukonna naisliikmed -pea igas peres on säilinud oskus valmistada oma tarbeks igapäevaselt vajaminevad kördi-ehk seelikukangad, kootakse sukad-sokid ja kindad. Vilunumatelt käsitöömeistritelt tellitakse pidurõivaste komplekti juurde kuuluvad tikanditega käised, tanud ja kirivööd. Oluline roll Kihnu naise traditsioonilises rõivastuses on ka trükimustrilisest sitsikangast pearättidel ja põlledel ning sitsijakkidel. Kihnu rõivauurimuste vallast on põhjalikumad K. Jõeste "Kihnu kördid eile ja täna", mis käsitleb Kihnu seelikute (körtide) ajalugu. Kihnu seelikutest on teinud 2006. aastal seminaritöö ja 2007. aastal lõputöö TÜ Viljandi Kultuuriakadeemia kultuurhariduse osakonna üliõpilane M. Sutt. Kihnu lasterõivaid on käsitlenud TÜ Viljandi Kultuuriakadeemia rahvusliku tekstiili eriala üliõpilane M. Kalle 2012. a lõputöös. Ülevaate Kihnu käsitööst ja traditsioonilisest rõivastusest annavad käsitöömeister Rosaali Karjami ja K. Summataveti koostööna valminud raamatud "Kihnu Roosi käsitöökogu" ja "Kihnu Roosi kindakirjad" ning SA Kihnu Kultuuri Instituudi poolt välja antud raamat "Elumõnu" Rosaali Karjamist, koostaja S. Aavik. Nagu märgib SA Kihnu Kultuuriruum juhataja ja Kihnu kultuuri tulihingeline hoidja Mare Mätas, on senini tähelepanuta jäänud Kihnu rahvarõivatraditsiooni kestmise seisukohalt nii olulised sitsirätikud ja -põlled, mis on kihnlaste eneste jaoks 20. sajandist alates üks meeliköitvamaid teemasid. Senini on need rõivastuse lisaelemendid kui vähetähtsad ostukaubad jäänud uurijate silmis suurema tähelepanuta. Kihnus kantavate pearätikute kohta on publitseeritud materjali napilt. Mõningase ülevaate teema kohta annab Rosaali Karjami rätikute kogu puudutav peatükk K. Summataveti raamatus "Kihnu Roosi käsitöökogu" ning M. Mätase ettekanne Ingrid Rüütli juubelikonverentsil 2005. aastal.

Bu çalışma, Fütüvvet ve Buşidō kavramlarının tarihi ve fenomenolojik açıdan karşılaştırılmasını içermektedir. Fütüvvet, dini-sosyal temelli bir yaşam biçimi önermesi nedeniyle yaşadığı toplumun genelinden farklı bir dışavuruma sahiptir. Bu yönüyle Fütüvvet’te İslam toplumunun geneline hakim bir birey tipolojisinin üzerine inşa edilen belirli kuralların tavizsiz uygulanmasını öneren bir yaşam tasavvuru görülmektedir. Bu işlevsel yönüyle Fütüvvet, İslam toplumunun bütünleştirici zemini olarak görülebilir. Buşido ise Japon toplumunda askeri-sosyal kökenli olarak görülse de askeri sadakatin bağlayıcılığı Şinto’daki varoluşsal hiyerarşi açısından dini-sosyal temelli bir yaşam biçimidir. Bu özellikleriyle Buşido, Japon toplumunun geneli üzerine hakim birçok unsurun üzerine inşa edilen belirli kuralların tavizsiz uygulanmasını öneren bir yaşam tasavvurudur. Bu işlevsel yönüyle Buşido, Japon toplumunun bütünleştirici zemini olarak görülebilir. Her iki kavramın müşterek yönleri, insanın nasıl yaşaması gerektiğine odaklanan inşa edici ideal bir ön-toplum tasavvuruna sahiptir. Çalışmayla bu hususların, ideal insan tasavvuru, Buşido ve cihat felsefesi, dürüstlük, doğruluk, adalet ve sadakat, cömertlik, iyilikseverlik ve İsar, tevazu ve nezaket, onur ve affedicilik olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Çalışma, temel olarak alt başlıklarıyla iki ana başlıkta ele alınmıştır. Fütüvvet-Buşido: Tarihi Karşılaştırma başlığında ilk olarak Fütüvvet kavramının tarihi incelenmiş, kavramın İslam toplumlarında tarihi süreçteki dönüşümlerinin tespitine; ikinci olarak da Buşido kavramının Japon toplumunda tarihi süreçteki dönüşümlerinin tespitine çalışılmıştır. Fütüvvet-Buşido: Fenomenolojik Karşılaştırma başlığında ise Fütüvvet ve Buşido kavramlarının fenomenolojik karşılaştırması yapılmış; ideal insan tasavvuru, Buşido ve cihat felsefesi, dürüstlük, doğruluk, adalet ve sadakat, cömertlik, iyilikseverlik ve İsar’ın her iki kavramım müşterek zemini içerisinde olduğu değerlendirilmiştir.

Работа показывает, каким образом экстремальные биографические события и локальные ритуальные практики могли порождать устойчивые символические оппозиции и ранние категории сакрального, становясь фундаментом для последующего развития индоевропейских религиозных и мифологических систем.

This paper examines the cult of cat spirits in north-western China and their veneration by the Han Chinese, Tibetans, and Monguors. These spirits are revered as family spirits and guardians of wealth and property, but possess resentful and revengeful personalities. The paper explores the origins of the cult, local worship and summoning practices, protection methods, and links with other vernacular traditions in the region. The study uses a combination of research methods, including analysis of Chinese historical sources, published modern narratives, and the authors’ own fieldwork in Mongolia. The paper employs a qualitative and comparative approach to identify invariant features of cat spirits across various local traditions and highlights the assimilation of the cult into different traditional belief systems where it is enriched with new traits. Die Zeit der Französischen Revolution und Napoleons gelten als Anfang des modernen Nationalismus. In den Kriegen, die Europa zwischen 1792 und 1815 fast ohne Unterbrechung heimsuchten, standen sich die größten Armeen gegenüber, die die Welt je gesehen hatte. Die dazu erforderlichen Aushebungen stützten sich auf das während der Französischen Revolution entstandene Modell der modernen Wehrpflicht. Dieses konstruiert den Militärdienst als staatsbürgerliche Pflicht des Individuums dem Nationalstaat gegenüber. Die allgemeine Wehrpflicht erlaubt einerseits dem Staat den Zugriff auf bis dahin ungeahnte Rekrutierungsquellen, da ja im Prinzip jeder männliche Staatsbürger dienstpflichtig ist. Auf der anderen Seite aber wird der Staat als Angelegenheit aller, als res publica begriffen. Dem erweiterten Zugriffsrecht des Staats auf die (Militär-)Dienste der Bürger entspricht so ein ‚republikanisches' Staatsverständnis. Wenn der Bürger dem Staat ‚gehört' und ihm als Soldat zu dienen hat, so ‚gehört' der Staat der Gesamtheit der Staatsbürger. Der operative Begriff, der diesen Zirkel gegenseitiger Implikation denkbar macht, ist bekanntermaßen der der Nation. Allerdings ist auch bekannt, dass nicht alle Soldaten Napoleons französische Staatsbürger waren: bis zu einem Drittel der Teilnehmer des Russlandfeldzuges waren ‚Ausländer'. Bu çalışmada Kazvinî (ö. 1283)’nin kozmografya ve coğrafya konularında kaleme aldığı Acâibü'l-Mahlûkât ve Ğarâibü'l-Mevcûdât isimli eserinin Süfliyyât başlıklı ikinci makalesinde yer alan ve yerküre üzerinde sıralanmış denizlerden Basra Körfezi ile Hazar Denizi’ndeki sıra dışı hayvan ve yaratıklara dair rivayetler ve tasvirler ele alınmaktadır. Telif edildiği tarihten itibaren yoğun ilgiye mazhar olduğu anlaşılan eserin 13. yüzyıldan 19. yüzyıla kadar çok sayıda tasvirli ve tasvirsiz Arapça, Farsça ve Türkçe nüshasına rastlanmaktadır. Eserin astrolojiden tıbba kadar muhtelif alanlardaki zengin konu dağarcığı farklı türdeki çalışmalarda araştırmaya tabi tutulmasına vesile olmuştur. Ancak eseri tasvir sanatı açısından inceleyen az sayıda çalışma bulunmaktadır. Mevcut çalışmalarda da genellikle belirli bir nüshanın tanıtımına odaklanıldığı anlaşılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada eserin denizler bahsindeki bazı hayvan ve yaratıklara dair içerik ve tasvirlerin çeşitli nüshalar üzerinden mukayeseli olarak tanıtılması amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışma hacmi göz önünde bulundurularak birbirine yakın konumdaki bahsi geçen iki denize dair rivayetler ayrıntılı olarak incelenmektedir. Bu kapsamda, eserde Hint Denizi’nin bir kolu olarak zikredilen Basra Körfezi ile başka herhangi bir denizle bağlantısı bulunmadığı bildirilen Hazar Denizi’nde konumlanmış çeşitli adalar ve canlı türleri hakkındaki malumat ve tasvirler bu çalışmanın odak noktasını oluşturmaktadır. Yurtiçi ve yurtdışındaki müze ve kütüphanelerde bulunan eserin farklı dönemlere ait nüshalarından bazıları bu çalışma kapsamında incelenip değerlendirilerek tasvirler arası benzerlik ve farklılıkların tespitinde bulunulmuştur.

This chapter highlights key concepts and techniques for transformative roleplaying game design. Working with myth, symbolism, and ritual are age-old practices that can deepen the role-playing experience and its impact. We explore narrative work and postmodern magic as methods for transforming the stories of our lives. We also discuss the many forms of culture within and around RPGs, as well working with conflict in scenarios related to politics, culture, gender, sexuality, race, and ethnicity. We close with thoughts around the use of RPGs to foster activism, advocacy, inclusion, and accessibility.

This study examines the figure of Bonobibi as a lived theological presence among forest-dependent communities in the Sundarbans and Khulna region of Bangladesh, challenging her dominant classification within folklore and mythological discourse. While existing literary and anthropological studies have largely approached Bonobibi as a symbolic or narrative figure, this research foregrounds everyday worship, oral recitation, and ritual practice to explore how theological authority is locally produced and sustained.

Drawing on extended field engagement, participant observation, and auto-ethnographic reflection, the study is grounded in direct interaction with worshippers, ritual practitioners, and community spaces where Bonobibi is actively invoked for protection, ethical guidance, and ecological balance. The research situates belief not as inherited myth but as a lived, adaptive system shaped by risk, environment, and embodied practice.

Methodologically, the thesis adopts a qualitative, field-based approach combining auto-ethnography with consent-bound ethnographic observation. Primary materials remain ethically restricted and are analysed within the specific cultural and ecological contexts in which they were produced.

By reframing Bonobibi through the lens of lived theology, this study contributes to broader discussions on vernacular religion, ecological belief systems, and the limitations of text-centric approaches to South Asian religious traditions.

This book is the first volume of the National Museum of World Writing Systems' academic series Scripts and Writing Culture, and presents research on five cuneiform artifacts in the museum's collection. 2. The Korean title script of "문자와 문자문화" is taken from Worin cheongang jigok (Songs of the Moon's Reflection on a Thousand Rivers), while the English title script Scripts and Writing Culture is adapted from the inscription on the base of Trajan's Column. 3. Information on the plates is organized in the following order: name, period, findspot, dimensions, and holding institution (inventory number). Dimensions are listed as width × height × thickness (cm). 4. Proper nouns, including personal and place names, are rendered in accordance with the foreign-language transcription rules of the National Institute of the Korean Language, although Akkadian terms-once the most widely used lingua franca in Mesopotamia-are transcribed as closely as possible to their original pronunciation. 5. The references are organized according to the original forms submitted by each author.

Already on the eve of its adoption in 2021, and especially after, the Gender Equality Law (GEL) encountered criticism and resistance from a large part of the Serbian profession, from the Committee for Standardization SASA and Matica Srpska, to numerous representatives of Serbian departments. GEL was also fiercely contested by right-wing national parties, such as Dveri, the Serbian Orthodox Church, and Patriarch Porfirije himself. Among other things, the law is criticized for its procedural shortcomings, the humiliating influence of the "West" on domestic legislation in opposition to the Constitution, a directive language policy with puntive measures, the use of the concept of "gender" and "gender identity" in Serbian legislation, etc. How do we stand with gender-sensitive language in the heroic world of epic poetry? Is it in the spirit of epic language? In the epics - defined by Vuk Stefanović Karadžić as the "heroic" genre of folk literature - which belongs to the male domain, based on a patriarchal cultural model, and sings primarily of heroes, warriors and their deeds - the use of social feminine nouns is a regular occurrence, to such an extent that the masculine gender very rarely, only in exceptional cases, has generic semantics.

Већ уочи усвајања 2021. године, а посебно након тога, Закон о родној равноправности (ЗОР) наишао је на критике и отпор великог дела српске струке, од Одбора за стандардизацију САНУ и Матице српске, до бројних представника српских ресора. ЗОР су жестоко оспоравале и десничарске националне странке, попут Двери, Српске православне цркве, па и самог патријарха Порфирија. Између осталог, закон се критикује због процедуралних недостатака, понижавајућег утицаја „Запада“ на домаће законодавство, супротно Уставу, директивне језичке политике и казнених мера у српском законодавству. Како стојимо са родно осетљивим језиком у херојском свету епске поезије? Да ли је то у духу епског језика? У епским песмама - које је Вук Стефановић Караџић дефинисао као „херојски“ жанр народне књижевности - које припадају мушком домену, заснованом на патријархалном културном моделу, и певају првенствено о јунацима, ратницима и њиховим делима - употреба друштвених именица женског рода је редовна појава, у толикој мери да мушки род врло ретко, само у изузетним случајевима, има генеричку семантику.

In this paper, I follow the biography of Dona Vataça, a Byzantine Princess of the Laskarids (1204-1261) through a sarcophagus that is located in the north corridor of the Sé Velha (Old Cathedral) of Coimbra in Portugal. This sarcophagus reveals the identity of the deceased via the now-lost inscription that reads “Heic Sita Est Bataza Imperatoris Graeciae Neptis” (Here lies the Vataça, granddaughter of a Greek Emperor) bears her sculpted effigy depicted in a nun-like dress on the lid and displays a relief with double-headed eagles on its sides. When we dig deeper into the archival and local lore, we begin to identify Dona Vataça as a woman with solid roots in Byzantium, the daughter of Eudokia Laskarina and the granddaughter of Theodoros Laskaris II, who was born in Italy, grew up in Spain and matured and died in Portugal. All this evidence helps us appreciate the magnitude of the Byzantine cultural impact that extended to the Western Mediterranean through marriages and diplomacy. As we narrow our lens into Vataça’s life in Portugal, prior to her ascetic life in Coimbra with Isabella, Queen of Aragon, primarily her actions in Cacém and Sines, we begin to appreciate how she becomes a mysterious heroine fighting against the Moors. This image looms large in the minds of the Portuguese even today. In sum, this piece discusses how the sarcophagus, which is often associated with death, becomes a synecdoche, a sealed envelope for the lifetime achievements of a Byzantine royal woman. Moreover, it speaks lucidly about Vataça’s changing functions and fortunes in her afterlife.

Bu çalışmada internet-kamusal alan ilişkisi Arendt'in kamusal alan tasavvuru ekseninde incelenmeye çalışılacaktır. Arendt, kamusal alan tasavvurunu, "uzlaşı"dan ziyade "çoğulculuğa" ve anlamın üretimine dayandırdığı noktada önem arz etmektedir. Kamusal alan geçmiş ve gelecek arasındaki insan(lar)ın "insansal etkinlikleri" (vita activa: iş, emek, eylem) ile kalıcılık kazandırdıkları, bu sayede "unutma" tehlikesinin aşıldığı, çoğulculuğun esas olduğu ve anlam ihtiyacına dayanan bir dünya tasarımına tekabül etmektedir. Gelişen iletişim teknolojileri bağlamında düşünüldüğünde klasik kamusal alan tasavvurunun dönüşüm geçirdiği ve internet ortamında "uzlaşı" temelli kamusallıktan ziyade Arendt'in belirttiği şekilde insanlar arası ilişkiler içerisinde (inter homines esse) anlamın üretildiği dünyaların kurulduğu çoğulculuk esaslı bir kamusallığın varlığını savunmak mümkündür. Bu bağlamda öncelikle kamusal alan kavramsallaştırması üzerinde durulacak, kavramın tarihsel gelişimine kısaca değinilecek ve kamusal alan-internet ilişkisine dair yapılan analizler ele alınacaktır. Daha sonra ise bir internet fenomeni olarak Ekşi Sözlük oluşumu incelenmeye çalışılacak ve bu sözlük yazarları ile yapılan görüşmeler söylem analizine tabi tutulacaktır.

When seeking to ascertain a reasoned speculation about paleolithic mythology now lost to deep time, more modern myths or interpretations derived from them are likely far removed from any clear conception of an original myth or its original meaning. A comparative mythological understanding is better, and by seeing the larger mytheme involved, their universality can be better understood. So, a general assumption may be that Africa could not just be a cradle of humanity but also the home of the Milky Way myth and its skyward thinking about where souls or spirits go to reside among the stars. Based on an assessment of known archaeological and ethnographic data, as well as artifacts possibly linked to the Milky Way myth’s origin, it could be related to a time between 70,000 and 78,000 years ago, connecting to three main artifact sites and their enigmatic art motifs. If this reasoned speculation is accurate, it would have then easily spread such mythological ideas before the “Out of Africa” hypothesis, lending more understanding of why it has been able to reach far and wide across the world and to seemingly all major continents.

Among scholars of contemporary religion, there exists a tension between
those who see the 'New Age' as exhausted, and those who believe it has the
potential to continue to contribute significantly to religious developments of
the future. A second, related, debate asks whether the secularisation of the
West has halted and been replaced by a process of re-enchantment.

The Oxford University Press series of ‘Very Short Introductions’ are
attractive for a number of reasons, not least because they are brief,
addressed to the general reader, and inexpensive. Helen Morales’ foray into
Greek and Roman mythology investigates three dimensions of myth; ‘lore,
ideology, and pleasure’ (p. 2). She focuses on the ways that classical
mythology continues to be an active force in contemporary culture.

Резюме. Вычегодско-Вымская летопись -памятник, содержащий уникальные сведения о ранней истории народа коми и пермских земель. Однако списки летописи не сохранились, а ее текст известен только по опубликованной копии, сделанной П. Г. Дорониным в 1927 г. Согласно предисловию и послесловию, летопись была написана усть-вымскими священниками Мисаилом и Евтихием в период с 1580-х по 1619 г. Авторитетность свода в современной науке высока, и эта датировка не вызывает сомнений у большинства исследователей. Между тем в работе 1996 г. А. Н. Власов пришел к выводу, что это компиляция, созданная усть-вымскими священниками в конце XVIII -начале XIX в. на основе разных источников, одним из которых была Повесть о Стефане Пермском, введенная им в научный оборот, но слабо изученная текстологически. Исследование рукописной традиции Повести показало, что источником Вычегодско-Вымской летописи стала вторичная Пространная редакция Повести, созданная, вероятно, в третьей четверти XVIII в. Это подтверждает предположение А. Н. Власова о позднем происхождении и компилятивном характере дошедшего до нас текста летописи, что требует критического отношения к этому источнику.

Метою публікації є оприлюднення матеріалів волевиявлення на сходах мешканців Гетьманщини з приводу запровадження у 1690-х рр. податку з продажу горілки, а також аналіз цього механізму впливу місцевих громад та різних станів на політику гетьманського уряду. У роботі використано історико-системний метод для вивчення взаємодії гетьманської влади та суспільства у фіскальній сфері, а також застосовано критичний аналіз архівних матеріалів для спростування заангажованих імперсько-російських інтерпретацій соціально-економічної політики гетьмана І. Мазепи.
  Наукова новизна полягає у введенні до наукового обігу документів протореферендумних практик – своєрідних форм самоврядування та демократичного волевиявлення у Гетьманщині кінця XVII ст. Автор аргументовано доводить, що саме ці механізми в кінцевому підсумку забезпечували стабільність та зростання бюджетних надходжень, збільшення охотницького війська та розвиток інфраструктури, включно з церковним будівництвом.
  Висновки. Дослідження підтверджує наявність гнучких механізмів управління у Гетьманщині часів І. Мазепи, що дозволяли враховувати голос різних верств населення у процесі прийняття важливих фіскальних рішень. Ці протореферендумні практики є свідченням глибокого коріння самоврядної традиції в Україні. Результатом дослідження стало спростування поширених імперськоросійських інтерпретацій щодо авторитарного характеру правління І. Мазепи. Документально підтверджено, що гетьманська адміністрація залучала населення до обговорення податкових реформ, зокрема щодо оренд на продаж алкогольної продукції, і здійснювала зміни у фіскальній політиці відповідно до рішень громади

This is the continuation of the publication of Pliny the Elder’s "Natural History", translated and commented on by the historian of science B.A. Starostin (1939–2009). Other books of "Natural History", also prepared by Starostin, have been published in the "Archive of Science and Technology" earlier: Book II (2007), Book III (2010), Book VI (2015), and Book VII (2018). Starostin’s translation and commentary on Book IV, titled "On the Countries of Europe", was published in the journal |Studies in the History of Science and Technology" (2007, No. 3, pp. 110–142).
Book VIII is devoted to terrestrial animals, both wild and domesticated, as well as those of intermediary nature between the wild and the domesticated—ranging from the elephant (not only the largest animal but also, according to Pliny, the animal closest to humans in intelligence) to shrews and moles. This is the first part of the zoological section, which comprises four books and is closely connected to Aristotle’s "History of Animals" in terms of content. Book IX, also part of this zoological section, is planned for publication next.
Just like Aristotle’s "History of Animals", the zoological chapters from "Natural History" significantly influenced European knowledge about the animal kingdom during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

Bu çalışmada Mevlânâ'nın Mesnevî'sinde, bilinen mensur dibâcelerin haricindeki manzum giriş kısımlarının adlandırılması sorunu ele alınmıştır. Bu manzum metinlerin, her cildin ilk hikâyesinden önce konumlandığı ve hikâye silsilelerinden bağımsız bir yapı oluşturduğu görülmüştür. İçerik ve işlevleri bakımından bu kısımların geleneksel dibâce niteliği taşıdığı tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmanın temel önerisi, bu uzun manzum girişlere "manzum dibâce" adının verilmesi gerektiğidir. Zira bu metinlerin, mensur dibâcelerle aynı temaları işlediği görülmüştür. Misal olarak dördüncü ciltteki manzum girişte yer alan Nil Suyu kıssasının, birinci cildin Arapça mensur dibâcesiyle örtüşmesi, iki metin türünün işlevsel olarak aynı niteliği taşıdığını göstermektedir. Birinci cilt özelinde, üç dibâce vardır. İlki mensur Arapça dibâce, ikincisi ney metaforu üzerinden yürüyen ilk on sekiz beyitlik dibâce, üçüncüsü de ney yerine bizzat mürşidin konuştuğu 19-35. Beyitlerden oluşan dibâcedir. Bu kısım diğer ciltlerden farklı olarak ikinci bir manzum dibâce olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Mensur dibâcelerin Mesnevî ciltleri tamamlandıktan sonra yazılmış olduğu bilgisinden hareketle Mevlânâ'nın, eser tamamlanana kadar dervişlerin okuma ihtiyacını karşılamak için ciltlerin başına bu tip manzum dibâceler eklediği sonucuna varılmıştır. Böylece Mesnevî'de mensur ve manzum olmak üzere toplam on üç dibâce bulunduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.

Öz Yıllık, mevsimlik, aylık ve günlük döngülere ilişkin tecrübeye dayalı geleneksel yorumları ihtiva eden halk takvimi içinde zamanın döngüsel düzenine ilişkin yorumlar bulmak mümkündür. Arap ve Fars yazılı kültürlerinin etkisiyle Türk yazılı kültüründe yaygınlaşan Havass-ı Eyyâm türünde eserler temelde her ayın günlerini uğur-uğursuzluk yaklaşımıyla ele alan manzum veya mensur metinlerdir. Bunlar her ayın içindeki uğurlu-uğursuz günler ve bu günlerde gerçekleştiği kabul edilen tarihî vakalar ile ilgili çeşitli bilgi ve hükümler içermektedir. İslam kültür dairesine giren Türklerin yazılı kültüründe Arapça ve Farsçadan tercümeler yoluyla gelişme gösteren Havass-ı Eyyâm türünde eserler Türk sözlü kültür ortamındaki uğur-uğursuzluk tasavvurları üzerinde de bir etkiye sahiptir. Günlere ilişkin bu tür uğur-uğursuzluk yaklaşımlarının kayıtlı olduğu söz konusu kaynak metinler fal konulu yazma eserler ile cönk ve mecmualarda bağımsız parçalar şeklinde kayıtlıdır. Bahsi geçen Havass-ı Eyyâm metinleri, ayın hangi gününde hangi eylemin yapılıp yapılmaması gerektiğine dair birtakım hükümler içermekteyken bazı kısa metinler ise günlük pratiklerin günlere göre uğur-uğursuzluk hükümlerini ele almaktadır. Temizlik, giyim-kuşam gibi kişisel bakıma ilişkin standartları birtakım mistik yaptırımlar üzerinden ortaya koyan kısa metinler buna örnek gösterilebilir. Bu metinlerde haftanın sıralı günlerinde tırnak kesme, tıraş olma ve elbise diktirme pratiklerine ait uğur-uğursuzluk hükümleri kayıtlıdır. İşte bu makalenin konusu, kişisel bakıma ilişkin günlük pratikleri uğur-uğursuzluk hükümleriyle ortaya koyan müstakil kısa metinleri ele almaktır.

Живут в горных районах Учжишань в центральной и южной частях острова (автономные уезды: Байша-Лиский, Чанцзян-Лиский, Лэдун-Лиский и Линшун-Лиский, Цюнчжун-Ли-Мяоский и Баотин-Ли-Мяоский; города Дунфан, Тунши, Санья). Численность свыше 1,6 млн человек (2020, перепись). Языки ли (собственно ли и цзямао) относятся к тай-кадайским языкам. Распространён также китайский язык. Сохраняются анимизм и культ предков, распространены даосизм и христианство, буддизм.

According to Christine Norberg Schultz, the architectural identity of ancient cities splits itself into four cosmic, romantic, classical, and compound patterns. But does this view applies also to Iranian-Islamic cities? Schultz introduces genius loci of the space in Islamic cities in his classification of cosmic cities, but a quick look at the Islamic urban planning system reveals that this theory can be completely modified, at least in the geographical area of Iran. Do all Iranian cities possess a cosmic spirit? What is the model of Iranian cities according to the structural model of the theory of genius loci? Can the cultural and semantic dimensions of the environmental context proposed in this theory be accepted and generalized to Islamic environments? In this study, an attempt has been made to explore Iranian cities and pinpoint their urban model, and to localize this theory in Iran. The use of indigenous urban patterns in urban design is one of the valuable methods in this category that can help design and shape an identifiable city. Today, due to the spread of designs unrelated to the identity of cities and the disappearance of urban features, this identity is increasingly diminishing. The use of urban patterns is one of the useful methods in recovering this identity and characteristics. To this end, the present study, using qualitative interdisciplinary studies, phenomenology and library studies and considering climate, landscape and urban studies and the impact of psychology on these components, attempts to pin down the genius loci existing in Iranian-Islamic urban spaces, thus revising Schultz's theory. Thus, Schultz's point of view and the theory of genius loci are first examined. This study analyzes Iranian cities using this theory in four forms: romantic, cosmic, classical, and the composition of his choice. According to the typology of these cities, the studies are carried out from two perspectives: positional and semiotic, and in fact, the structure of Schultz's theory has furnished a medium for defining the indigenous Islamic identity. The results show that all four of Schultz's models can be defined in Iranian-Islamic cities, so that the character and genius loci of each city are shaped by such factors as climate, beliefs and culture, civilization and past urban planning. Northern cities and some western and northwestern cities with humid climates have the genius loci of romantic places, central cities with dry climates represent the genius loci of cosmic places and northern cities and some central and western cities reveal the genius loci of classical places. The original idea of the City Garden in Western urban planning to create sustainable complexes was further linked to the environment in the 19th century. This plan in the Middle East contains a spiritual concept and was proposed in order to create an earthly paradise. Safavid Garden City, with its composite spirit, is a model for Iranian-Islamic cities as a utopia.

Bu çalışmada, Abdal Musa Dergâhı haziresinde yer alan, Osmanlı Dönemine ait Bektaşî mezarlar/mezartaşları belgelenerek sanat tarihi yönüyle değerlendirilmiştir. Mezarların bu günkü yerleşim düzenini gösteren vaziyet planı çizilmiş, fotoğraflanarak yazıları günümüz Türkçesine aktarılmış, mezar, mezartaşı ve başlık tipleri, bezeme özellikleri ele alınmış, Türk mezartaşları içerisindeki yeri belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Hazirede toplam 150 tane mezar bulunmaktadır. 40 tanesi Osmanlı Döneminden ve kitabelidir. Diğer mezarlarda kime ait olduğunu belirten kitabeleri bulunmayıp mezarlık düzenlenirken tek tip olarak yenilenmişlerdir. 2 mezar ise baştaşı ayaktaşı ve mezar yapısıyla bütün olarak günümüze ulaşmıştır. 40 mezardan 38 tanesi erkek mezarı 2 tanesi kadın mezarıdır. Mezartaşlarından, bir tanesi 17. yüzyıldan (1699 M.) olup diğerleri 18, 19 ve 20. yüzyıllara aittir. İncelediğimiz mezartaşlarının tamamına yakını Bektaşî dergâhında çeşitli görev ve hizmetlerde bulunmuş kişilere aittir. Mezartaşlarındaki yazılarda kişilerin; kimlik, vasıf, meslek-görev/statü durumlarını gösteren ifadeler önemli bilgiler vermektedir. 1699 yılından 1919 yılına kadar, dergâhta çeşitli hizmetlerde bulunmuş kişilerin en azından bazıları kitabelerden öğrenilmektedir. Mesleği/görevi/statüsü belirtilmeyen veya belirlenemeyen 23 mezartaşının dışında, diğer 15 tanesinde mezarların 3 türbedar, 8 postnişin, 2 aşçı, 1 nakib, 1 halife, statüsünde kişilere ait olduklarının ifade edildiği görülmektedir. 1699-1919 tarihleri arasında Abdal Musa Dergâhıyla bağlantılı, 11 dedenin, 6 babanın, 8 dervişin isimleri yanında 3 mezartaşında kişilerin memleketlerinin belirtildiği görülür. Sülale adına rastlanmayan mezartaşlarında geçen isimler incelendiğinde, erkeklerde Mehmed-Muhammed, Ali, Hüseyin, isimlerinin diğer isimlere göre daha çok tercih edildikleri ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmada mezartaşlarının biçim, bezeme ve özellikleriyle Osmanlı dönemi içerisindeki yerinin belirlenmesi yanı sıra, özgün belge olma nitelikleri bakımından, mezartaşlarındaki kitabelerin yayınlanması yoluyla Alevîlik-Bektaşîlik konusunda yapılacak araştırmalara katkıda bulunabilmek amaçlanmıştır.

Cilj je ovoga priloga doprijeti do višeslojnog susreta pretkršćanskoga i kršćanskoga svijeta na krajnjem istoku Hrvatske – u zapadnom Srijemu, posebno u Bapskoj i njezinoj okolici, ali i u fruškogorskom kraju u istočnom Srijemu. Višestoljetno čašćenje uz hodočašća Gospi bapskoj, crkvi Blažene Djevice Marije u Bapskoj, može se u prvom redu promatrati u kontekstu marijanske pobožnosti u Hrvata, ali i kao moguć trag praslavenske sakralnosti s Blaženom Djevicom Marijom kao interpretatio christiana Mokoši, praslavenske i sveslavenske vrhovne božice drevnih Slavena. Koliko nam je poznato, autori koji su se bavili Bapskom i Srijemom nisu se posvetili takvim istraživanjima. Brojni toponimi, mikrotoponimi, ojkonimi, oronimi, Gospini bunarići za ozdravljenje te druge točke u prostoru, uz prateće legende i predaje, sagledavaju se kao mogući indikativni, nepatvoreni povijesni spomenici u okviru praslavenske sakralizacije srijemskog krajobraza.

В статье на основе широкого круга источников анализируется прошлое и современное состояние арт-рынка в Республике Беларусь. Белорусский арт-рынок достаточно слабо интегрирован в мировой, но тем не менее в нем присутствуют многие актуальные тенденции: активная деятельность авторов произведений искусства, взаимодействие художников и арт-галерей, выстраивание комфортных и взаимовыгодных отношений между автором, арт-дилером/галеристом и институтом. Круг потребителей современного искусства в Беларуси за последнее десятилетие имеет тенденцию к стабильному росту, частные и корпоративные коллекции современного искусства обладают инвестиционным потенциалом. В этих условиях важным становится развитие образовательных и инвестиционных проектов, направленных на поддержку современного искусства и формирование культуры его потребления, организация мероприятий по продаже произведений искусства и создание системы экспертной оценки авторов и их произведений.

Did Tolkien merely philologize elves, or did he flirt with them? Reading ‘On Fairy-stories’, I trace his Faërian Drama, performed illusions, not lived realities, through theosophy, modern encounter reports, and a friend's ‘veil’ remark, asking what kind of crossing really fired Middle-earth

Tyrants and tyrannies were a common theme among the Declamators and Hellenistic and Byzantine school rhetoric. Among the cases dealt with was that of a woman who had gone up to a tyrant’s bedroom to kill him, claiming afterwards the due reward. In Antigone, the autocrat imposes his will as law, in a state where no woman would ever make laws. In Israel, at a fictional time when references to empires that never coexisted are mixed, a respected Jewish noblewoman and widow comes out from the shadow with a plan to execute Holofernes, the Assyrian commander, whose forces are on the verge of destroying Israel.
Like her Theban emulous, she does so on her own initiative and constrained by religious piety. Unlike this one, her move obeys the impetus for an existential struggle of his nation, a struggle which is for the freedom, identity and preservation of his people and the religious cult homeland, in the land they had for their own, against the risk of extermination by the ferocity of an impious and oppressive foreign horde. Judith assumes the personal design of tyrannicide.
The book celebrates the courage of a woman who is the feminine hand of the God who wrought the liberation of his people. A woman becomes a national hero in a world where men had the preeminence. There is a mixture of qualities generally attributed to men, such as the prudence and courage in councils, with virtues considered as properly female. She is not a participant in armed struggle. She is exalted for her female seduction ability, which leads to deception a man who is the type of the proud and lustful. Finally, there is the modest and temperate life that she kept in widowhood, as an example for his fellow citizens.

Cette étude, écrite par notre défunt collègue et ami Christian Rose, concerne le rapport entre les deux chevaux qui délimitent l'épopée troyenne : le sacrifice du cheval de Tyndare en son début et le cheval de Troie en sa fin. Ces deux chevaux rappellent des éléments de comparaison indien qui remontent à une origine commune indo-européenne : le rituel indien du sacrifice du cheval ou asvamedha et Asvatthaman, héros du Mahabharata qui conduira la destruction nocturne du camp des Pandavas. Cet article sera réédité dans un recueil dédié à la mémoire de notre collègue et rassemblant la totalité de ses écrits dont de nombreux inédits.
This study, written by our late colleague and friend Christian Rose, concerns the relationship between the two horses that mark the beginning and end of the Trojan epic: the sacrifice of Tyndareus' horse at the beginning and the Trojan horse at the end. These two horses recall elements of Indian comparison that date back to a common Indo-European origin: the Indian ritual of horse sacrifice or asvamedha and Asvatthaman, hero of the Mahabharata, who led the nighttime destruction of the Pandavas' camp. This article will be republished in a collection dedicated to the memory of our colleague, bringing together all of his writings, including many previously unpublished works.

This research represents a modest contribution to the study of the beliefs and customs of the inhabitants of Šumadija. In order to enable a comparative observation of folk culture, two regions were taken, one western - Takovo, and one eastern - Belica. From the first region, the material was collected in the village of Koštunići, in 2015, and from the second – in several villages of the former Belica parish and border towns, in 2018.

В книге рассматривается происхождение русского эпоса, его жанровый состав, детально разбираются структурные и сюжетные особенности былин, рассказывается о типологии сюжетов и персонажей. Автор исходит из следующего положения: эпос не является отражением определенного исторического события или ряда таких событий, а представляет собой набор сюжетных схем, в которые на разных этапах может включаться разнородный исторический или квазиисторический материал. Именно поэтому имена героев, характеристики времени и пространства анализируются здесь в связи с их сюжетными функциями. Издание адресовано фольклористам, специалистам в области эпосоведения, читателям, интересующимся поэтикой устного текста. 

This book explores the genesis of Russian epics and analyses their genres, delves into the specifics of byliny plots and structures, and describes the typology of their plots and characters. The author’s starting thesis is that epics are not a reflection of a certain historical event or a number of such events, but rather represent a set of storylines that, during different periods, can include variegated historical and quasi-historical material. That is the reason why the names of characters, the temporal and spatial characteristics, and the economy of the epic world are analysed in relation to their storyline functions. This book is of special value for folklorists, specialists in epic studies, and those who take interest in the poetics of oral texts.

Buket Uzuner'in "Uyumsuz Defne Kaman'ın Maceraları" alt başlığını taşıyan tabiat dörtlemesi; Su (2012), Toprak (2015), Hava (2018) ve Ateş (2023) adlı romanlardan oluşur. Yazar, her romanında bir hayvansal figürü merkeze koyarak ona farklı bir misyon yükler. Uzuner, dörtlemenin ikinci kitabı olan Toprak'ta geyiği bir mitolojik figür olarak kullanır. Eserin içindeki zengin mitolojik unsurlar, geyik arketipiyle ilişkisi bağlamında ele alınmış ve arketipsel sembolizm açısından değerlendirilmiştir. Bireysel bir psikolojinin varlığından ayrı olarak toplumların da ortak bir psikolojiye sahip olduğunu belirten Carl Gustav Jung, bunu kolektif bilinç dışı olarak adlandırmıştır. Farklı toplumlarda ortak inanç ve algıların ortaya çıkması ve bunun herhangi bir etkileşim olmadan gerçekleşmesi kolektif bilinç dışı fikrini daha da güçlendirmiştir. Jung'un sistemleştirdiği arketip kuramı; mitolojik ögelerle süslenmiş kurguya sahip eserlerin çözümlenmesinde önemli katkı sağlar. Şekil değiştirerek günümüz eserlerinde varlığını sürdüren bu ilk örnekler; insan olduğu gibi hayvan, bitki veya olağanüstü varlıklar da olabilir. Kolektif bilinç dışının yansıması olan arketip, yapı ve temanın şekillenmesinde etkili olur. Toprak romanı, tematik bir incelemeye tabi tutularak eserdeki geyik arketipi çözümlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Geyik arketipi; kutsal hayvan, haberci, kılık değiştirme ve lanet unsurları açısından değerlendirilmiş ve insanlığın ortak mirası olan anlatılar ile romandaki kullanımı arasındaki benzerlikler ortaya konulmuştur. Çalışmada, örnek ve anlatıların incelenmesi noktasında metin çözümleme ve yorumlama odaklı bir analiz yapılmıştır.

В статье рассматриваются сказительские практики современных калмыцких джангарчи в условиях их адаптации к культурным, социальным и политическим трансформациям XXI в. На основе полевого исследования 2023 г. выявляется размывание традиционной для эпосоведения дихотомии «аутентичное/неаутентичное». В работе обсуждается «регрессивный принцип в теории фольклора» (А. Дандес) в дискурсах сказителей и эпосоведов, где доминируют тезисы о «забывании традиции», «исчезновении фольклора» и «неаутентичности современных исполнителей». Современные формы исполнения эпоса в Калмыкии иллюстрируют процесс интеграции традиции и новаций. Джангарчи осваивают сказительское искусство через семейное наследование, наставничество мастеров и современные ресурсы, такие как аудиозаписи, поддержка и консультация эпосоведов. Легитимность их эпического дара обозначается двумя нарративными сценариями: «призвание певца» (мифологическая инициация) и «обучение сказителя» (под руководством мастеров или через самостоятельное изучение). Эти сценарии соотносятся с представлениями о сказителях XIX в. Советский и постсоветский период характеризуются государственной поддержкой сказительских традиций: джангарчи участвуют в конкурсах, фестивалях и культурных инициативах, получают почетные звания и награды. Таким образом, в XXI в. сказительство становится важным элементом презентации Калмыкии на региональной, российской и мировой арене, репрезентируя этничность. Кроме того, связь традиционных жанров эпоса с процессами традиционализации дискурса позволяет джангарчи занимать ключевые позиции в культурной, политической и идеологической сферах.

В статье рассматриваются рассказы сказителей эпоса и аудитории, заметки исследователей об обретении сказительского дара и регламентации исполнения эпоса в широкой евро-азиатской перспективе. Автор выделяет два нарративных сценария, согласно которым сказители получают способность исполнять эпос: «призвание певца» и «обучение сказителя». В первом случае сказители получают дар через мифологическую инициацию (от героев сказаний в результате посещения потустороннего мира, через сон или болезнь), во втором – воспитываясь в семье сказителя, под патронажем опытных сказителей, в результате самообучения, слушая или читая эпические тексты – пробуют свои силы и исполняют эпос для аудитории. Сценарии в сказительских нарративах дополняют друг друга: зачастую «призвание» оказывается легитимизирующим длительное «обучение» и становление сказителя. Выделенные нарративные сценарии работают не только в традиционных, но и в современных урбанизированных обществах, где исполнение эпоса встроено в государственные и республиканские идеологии. Лучше всего такое положение дел объясняется через концепцию Джеймса Скотта: государство поменяло социальную действительность так, чтобы она лучше соответствовала бюрократической оптике и была более управляемой. При этом выделенные в статье сценарии становления эпического сказителя в XXI в. окончательно становятся дискурсивной формой, не имеющей отношения к действительному обучению традиционного сказителя.
