You always remember your first love, no matter who or what it was.

"Star Trek Fotonovel #8: A Piece of the Action" was the first of the 12-book Bantam Books ST Fotonovel series I read, back in my youth, when my high school library owned a copy, which I checked out frequently. Hence, it will always be my favorite of the series.

As a comic book fan, I enjoyed seeing an ST episode-especially one I had not seen at the time of reading-unfold in a comics-like format, with the dialogue in word balloons.

However, what really struck me was how bright and how vivid the photos' colors were-especially since I read this at a time when the episode prints my local TV station was showing on late Saturday nights after the local news were grotty and worn, with dulled colors. This book really awakened me to what a visually striking series ST was, and is, at a time when its luster was dulled.

For those with memories not as long as mine, I recommend this-or any of the other 11 volumes in this series-as a look back to a time before home video, when these books were the only way available to own your favorite ST episodes.

If copies in Very Good or better condition are available on the Amazon marketplace at a reasonable price, any or all of the Bantam Star Trek Fotonovels are highly recommended.
