Weeknotes 2025W44
I’ve been interviewing at a local engineering firm and the second interview was this week. After the first interview and after they had contacted my references, I was feeling really confident. The following panel interview was much more challenging and I didn’t expect most of the questions. It wasn’t excellent but it certainly wasn’t bad. It kind of felt like I kept fumbling the ball, picking it back up, then fumbling it again. Overall, I tried my best and it is out of my hands now and I can stop worrying about it. I should know early next week if it was good enough to get an offer.
For Halloween, we stayed in and watched Nosferatu and I really enjoyed it. It felt like an old movie but had modern colors, sounds, transitions, and a few jump scares. Excellent movie, highly recommend.

- Active listening: the Swiss Army Knife of communication by Jonathan Kahn. A good framework for being curious while listening to others. Definitely needs some tweaking to not sound robotic—and therefore insincere—but the idea is great.
- Bad UX World Cup by Nordcraft. The challenge was to make a date picker with horrible UX. There are some hilarious, really creative ones in here.
- Godchecker. Really good collection of information about pantheons, gods, and goddesses.
