JOB DUTIES:

Review current and prospective products for legal risk and advise relevant business teams accordingly. Review outgoing marketing materials for material legal risks. Create policies and procedures for the company related to product launches, marketing, intellectual property, and other general legal matters. Manage the company’s intellectual property program by identifying and pursuing new intellectual property protection opportunities and managing existing assets. Advise the data science teams and rest of the company on best practices related to data collection and use of artificial intelligence. Has one direct report with the title of Product Counsel.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Juris Doctor or foreign equivalent, and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a closely related position. Must be admitted to practice law by a U.S. or foreign jurisdiction, or eligible to register as in-house counsel.

Special Requirements: Experience must include five (5) years with each of the following:

  • Legal research on laws and regulations relevant to company products and marketing practices to determine advice for internal business teams on their development practices

  • Legal writing to summarize the applicability of the laws and regulations that have been researched.

  • Providing oral and written legal advice to internal business teams usually on subjects related to building products or conducting marketing practices in accordance with best practices and relevant laws and regulations.

  • Strategizing In-house legal teams

  • Presentation of legal requirements to technical and non-legal teams.

RATE OF PAY: To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base salary ranges for all United States based job listings. We set standard base salary ranges for all roles based on function, level, and location, benchmarked against technology companies. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, relevant work experience, skillset, internal equity, and other factors, consistent with applicable law. The salary range for this position is $255,000.00 - $425.000.00.

Base salary is just one part of our total rewards package which additionally includes equity, performance bonus or commissions for eligible roles, and competitive benefits.
