Also happy to discuss restaurant and wine recommendations, Doctor Who, Star Trek, and cats.
Me, in just about every meeting these days.
All the time.Â
All. The. Time.
WFH two days a week definitely has its advantages.
Had a productive lunch break today.

Work has a #PrideMonth playlist we can add to. It was skewing too recent so I thought I’d add some 80s & 90s songs to balance it a bit.
One of my contributions this morning was Divine, You think you’re a man and now I’ve had it stuck as an earworm all day.
Pride month celebration at work today.
I had some time to kill in Melbourne this morning so wandered into the naarm ngarrgu Library near the Queen Victoria Markets.
I sat with the retirees and read an actual newspaper. It’s been ages since I read the news the old fashioned way!
The library was just lovely and a warm, welcoming and quiet space.
Recommendations from people in hospitality are the best
I love getting recommendations for places to eat and drink from people who work in hospitality; I’ve never had a bad suggestion.Â
Went to Three Horses Bar this afternoon as it’s from the people who run Caretakers Cottage and I’m a fan of its vibe. Hard to get into Caretakers these days though after it was named best bar in Australasia 2025z.
After three of their cocktails, I walked away with four recommendations for Melbourne and one in Adelaide and chatting to the staff about other places I’ve already been to we’re definitely on the same page on what makes a good venue.
I’m in Melbourne for a foodie weekend with friends and I’ve already told them we need to go to Three Horses before dinner tomorrow night.Â
A standard day at work.
You never forget your first time
Decided to try out a new barber closer to home. A pretty decent beard trim and cut but just as I was thinking I’d come back again he asked if I had a pension or concession card.
This is the first time I’ve been asked if I have a card. At 57 I thought I had a few years left in me. I’m telling myself it’s because I was getting a cut at 2:30 in the afternoon and he thought I was retired.
I’m now contemplating the futility of existence and the fact I still need to find a new barber closer to home.Â
I take a staged approach to things.
To clarify.
I swear half of the stuff Myer advertises for sale online doesn’t get sent by them. They appear to have slowly pivoted to being a big dropshipper.Â
Rules for life.
How am I meant to save money when there is a 20% off sale at Popcultcha?
I’m looking for a new ISP and checked what Superloop is offering and they appear to have a business model from a decade ago.
They charge shipping if you get a modem from them.
You have to give 30 days notice if you’re cancelling to go to another ISP.
You have to phone them to give the notice.
A constant state of being.
Maybe it is, maybe it is not.
