On Saturday, January 4th, 2020, as Bobby slept, his video “Puppy Dog Bouncin’” went viral in the most unexpected way. Unbeknownst to him, major celebrates like Missy Elliott, Colin Hanks, and Chance The Rapper had shared and reposted the video across their platforms. When Bobby woke up, his phone was completely dead—a rare occurrence for him, as it typically didn’t ring much. After plugging it in and waiting for it to charge, he was bombarded with notifications. As he recounted in a later radio interview, “I had so many messages and notifications I was like, what in the world is going on?” To his shock, Bobby had gained over 10,000 new followers overnight. 

The virality of “Puppy Dog Bouncin’” didn’t stop there. Over the next few weeks, the video spread like wildfire, accumulating millions of views as it was reposted and shared across multiple social media platforms. People who shared the video were also racking up millions of views themselves, further spreading Bobby’s creation. By March 2020, companies had taken notice of the viral sensation, and one company in particular, E-One Entertainment, reached out to express interest in meeting with Bobby to discuss a possible deal. The prospect of landing a major production deal felt like the culmination of years of hard work, but as fate would have it, the world had other plans. 

Just days after the meeting was scheduled, the U.S. went into lockdown due to the global spread of Covid-19. Face-to face meetings, flights, and in-person interactions were all put on indefinite hold. Yet, while the pandemic took away many opportunities, it also provided an unexpected gift: time.

It took a few tries to find his groove, but once he did, the response was overwhelmingly positive. By the end of the summer, Bobby’s follower count had more than doubled, reaching 20,000. RxCKSTxR was perfectly positioned to meet that demand, and he began posting a new video almost every day. By the end of 2022, RxCKSTxR’s TikTok platform had reached 1 million followers, and Instagram soon followed, hitting the same milestone. Bobby’s rise wasn’t just about numbers, though.
