From ChrisF- Sarah the Sorceress 15mm witch (27 pts)

"It's almost Spring! Time to sweep off the front stoop."

"Quite a few visitors this winter"

"So many bones!"

"This looks like a lot of work"

"Maybe next weekend"

This is the last of my 15mm witches from Blue Moon. Using it to make my way to the Lair of the Beast for a final mini.

From ChrisF - Knights Solar 25mm mounted Rohan Standard Bearer(30 pts)

This is a Heritage casting done for Elan Merch in 1980. It is listed as part of a diorama set " On to Helm's Deep" #1713 - d for the Lord of the Rings line.

He is listed as Guthlaf, Standard bearer to the King, and perished at his King's side in the Battle of Pelennor Fields.

I studied back a bit on previous posters that painted horses as I don't do a lot of mounted figures. I think I need to consider contrast when painting a miniature like this. A few areas come out good, but the right side in particular really muddled together.

I'm off to paint my last witch.

From ChrisF - Chamber of Challenge The Tomb - 15mm tomb (25pts)

I made this tomb a few years ago for my gaming table. I produced the original out of foam and clay, and made the silicone mold for repro. Not super detailed , but functional. Since the roof is a 2 part cast, it was always on standby to use up any extra resin, along with the baseplate and building, so I ended up with quite a few.

After primer I painted the whole thing with white liquitex, and just used a variety of stains.

I've developed a much better way to make rubble, so I may make another one in the future, but as of now its a fun scatter piece for the gaming table.

Not counting any points for the 15mm mini inside as he was previously painted, but wanted something to show scale. Should have painted a new one, but I really, really like this vampire mini and wanted to use him.

From ChrisF Oubliette - Tasmanian Devil 25mm (25pts)

 "No passing through MY hedgerow!"

This is a 1977 Tasmanian Devil from Heritage's Der Kreigspielers Fantastiques (1100) line #1158 by Steve Bisset.
This mini was purchased and painted by me around 1978 and had a few years on the gaming table with the White Box set before it was packed away when life changed.

Here he is on the right ( with some pals ). I took these pics last year after I found the packed up box, still in my possession even after school, a stint in the military, cross country moves and quite a few years of regular old life.
He was still in his Humbrol coating and in good condition, but I decided to repaint him, so stripped him down and he has sat on the shelf awaiting his new colors for a few months.

The base plate on this mini is great as it includes everything,  designer name, company name, copyright, date, and model number!
I hope he holds up for another 44 years!

From ChrisF - Chamber of Challenge Shrine 15mm (28pts)

A serpent priest has managed to waylay some lovelies from the nearby village.

Hopefully, they can break free from his magical sermon before becoming part of his permanent "congregation"!

The snake is from Son of Snakes (Splintered Light minis), and the ladies are Egyptian villagers from Blue Moon.

Minor chores this weekend, so should be able to get some more minis done quickly.
On to the next room in the Challenge.

From ChrisF -Sarah the Sorceress 15mm Witch (27pts)

An offering to the Sorceress for passage from the Hatchery to the Shrine: A witch (5 bonus pts) thats almost a dead ringer for the shadow drawing on the Chamber Challenge map!.

Instead of bats she has a rat she caught out on the back deck of her Lake front (swamp) property for you.

You're invited to dinner ( dress is casual).

Witchie usually enjoys just gnawing on it while it's still squeakin' but she'll fry it up if necessary.

With this fine witch and the added bonus of a tasty rat,  I anticipate quick approval of passage. Or possibly a suspension LOL.

From ChrisF - The Hatchery entry OWLBEAR 15mm (22pts)

So it's kind of a bird! This mini started out as a 15mm Twanax from Blue Moon , but since I had six of them I decided to modify one into an Owlbear.

The body is the original sculpture, but I chopped off the head with a dremel and sculpted an owl head out of Aves epoxy sculpt.

I did about 10 practice sculpts with clay to get the patterning and process down before I mixed up the Aves.

I painted him in high flow acrylics and sealed with matte varnish.

I am going to do one more but I may try to make a barn owl head and paint the body white. Kind of a snow owlbear.

I'm off to paint a witch!

From ChrisF - Chamber of Challenges Larder 25mm (25pts)

This is a Grenadier Miniature circa 1980 from the Hireling Crew box set for D&D.

He is 2004f - potion drinker.

I wonder if this guy was hired for this particular skill, but since he has a sword and shield, I'm guessing it's just an additional duty or maybe he's multi-tasking.

Maybe its something you add to your resume to increase the chance of getting hired.

Can't be fun to hear "Say Bernard, come on over here and try this stuff we just found so we can see what happens to you". Hopefully he negotiated for a decent health plan.
Bottoms up!

From ChrisF - Chamber of Darkness entry 25mm ( 25pts)

This is a 1978 Heritage 1104-E Superhero from the Der Kreigspielers Fantastiques 1100 range.

The full set name is "Flying Gargoyle Chief Abducting Maiden from Superheros Harem", and also contained a gargoyle chief with base, and 2 maidens.

Apparently the Chief was successful as I only have the Superhero from the set. I'm guessing the others are in the possession of a friend from times past.

This mini was painted back in the 70's ( probably with Humbrols) and was in decent shape, but I think someone needed a Paladin for gaming and had carved cross lines in the shield with an Xacto. I stripped the paint and managed to grind and buff out the lines before painting it.

I really enjoy the old minis!
On to the Larder!

From ChrisF - to the Golems Haunt (22pts)

A planned home renovation took about twice as long as expected but am back painting again. This is a 15mm Mummy from Blue Moon done with acrylics.

I based him with a paint mix of acrylic, glue and baking soda. It doesn't show well in the photo, but has a subtle grainy texture. Very nice for basing 15mm scale.

Reverse.

Searching for victims.
On to the gray scale.

ChrisF - A witch for the sorceress (27points)

This is a 15mm Witch by Blue Moon. I'm offering it to the sorceress for transport from the Hall of Traps to the Golem Haunt. She's quite a lovely lady with delicate features and a spell finger that most assuredly means business.

I changed her location as the lighting wasn't working for shot from the front.

I tallied points as 20 for the transport, 2 for the mini, and 5 bonus as she is a witch.
Happy New Year to all!

From ChrisF - Curtgeld Mini 28mm (5pts)

This is a Grenadier Dungeon Raider #8119 by Julie Guthrie circa 1993. A nice dungeon party figure as he has a couple of bags and some rope as well as the lantern.

I was able to get some lantern glow on him, better than some of my past results. I wonder how come it takes six coats of yellow for a decent shield or cloak base, but the minute you want just a subtle shade of yellow for a light source, it leaps off the brush with a vengeance and coats like lane marker paint?

With my entry mini done, I'm back to some 15mm for a bit.
