There was a fine line between us Our edges barely met More blur than definition In a small town, temper Temperament displays More child than overseer Is it wrong to long for a broken night, an early morn? (It’s wrong) As some small nature calls Today I’m learning how to feel again (But we are alone) Turn on the sense of being (But we are alone) Remembering how to feel again (But we are alone) Finally admission (That we are alone) I still give friends away And I’m still lazily thinking It’ll all come to me Small minds continue Superstitions swell All thoughts of overtaking Is it wrong to long for a broken night, an early morn? (It’s wrong) As some small nature calls Today I’m learning how to feel again (But we are alone) Turn on the sense of being (But we are alone) Remembering how to feel again (But we are alone) Finally admission (That we are alone)

Difference 06:12
I guess it all made sense Illusions of a life with me It took a while to talk you down I had to calm things down I had to save myself from Those campsites in the woods Was it worth fighting for? Did I make a difference? I’ll lose again this week It hurts to borrow you And our threadbare memories Instead I reach for you Or who I thought was you But my grasp keeps falling short I remember when You would confide in me About those things that made you sad I heard you once Say you’d told me twice That I can’t see you no more Was it worth fighting for? Did I make a difference? Did you make a difference?
3.
400 03:38
We’re separated by 400 records And half the length of our togetherness Was just a year loose when the highrise meets began I kept looking down You just kept looking It’s been a strange time Can I face another rebuild? When we're still learning to let go The deaths of others are awakening in me Something I have never felt before With such a hard roofline No good can be inside Guess I’ve given in again I've stopped looking up It’s been a strange time Can I face another rebuild? When we're still learning to let go I saw your cursive for the first time in a long time What would you write for me now?
4.
Sunseeker 03:57
You’re off drinking a far off shore Where did you go? Some seaside town you’ve not seen before A landlocked place in the snow You’ve always wanted to see Brazil Or walk on Seguine If you’re travelling light Sunseeker She thought you’d never leave her There’s a bus that’ll take us to Amsterdam Or a plane to Japan If you’re travelling light
5.
Giants 03:48
Tired of fools Tired of mistakes Tired of running these days Too many go Regret not knowing Too late to make amends Sunday evening It’s always Sunday evening But this time It’s not over Passenger blues Essential escape Over the wild grey brine, away And they all said If it were they That they’d never leave this side You’re all corners That I’m navigating my way over The sharpness of self protection I know you I know you do I do This already And it strikes me so They were giants to me
6.
That Is True 03:35
Running wild through this time Take this all away Just believe and you can climb Round, round, round Spinning down to the ground Take this all away Slipping through this space and time Down, down, down And I know it’ll all be fine You will change my mind And I can’t fight the way that is true All this time we are here and so blue But I don’t wanna be loved by you I will change your mind Coming back to us here Bring this to the end Seems regretting is a curse Now, now, now And I know it’ll all be fine You will change my mind And I can’t fight the way that is true All this time we are here and so blue But I don’t wanna be loved by you I will change your mind
7.
So High 04:42
You fell in love on Friday The world could see You showed me pictures of nothing You fell in love on Friday But not with me I’m drifting off now, all at sea I’m so high On this mountain All I ask you Is to tell me how To hold this window Not drop to the ground I’m so high on this mountain What did you see? Where did you go that night? What did you see? Where have you been all your life? You let me down on Tuesday On the advice of a jealous man Now I’m climbing, deception And so the left is leaving Your aspiring pitied soul You let me go so hollow You let me down on Tuesday You let go so gently
8.
Missouri Boy 05:42
Dust covered me like snow And this view Cars came streaming by I’m suddenly alone, listless My gaze drifts from your fire He’s gone, he’s gone, to sleep a little while Drive home, drive home, Missouri boy Suffocating home, I miss you This shit’s so black and white I could’ve turned my back, you know I fear the living not the dead He’s gone

about

Sunseeker marks the fourth studio release from Sussex-based band, The Equatorial Group.

Now into their second decade, the five-piece outfit have cultivated a devoted following, with audiences regularly traveling considerable distances to experience their intimate and emotionally charged live performances.

A myriad of classic influences swirl beneath the surface and their sound defies easy categorisation, often sparking lively debate among listeners. But whether defined as roots-pop, folk rock, dreamy altcountry or anglo-americana, the heart of the band lies in connection, storytelling, and
atmosphere.

With their previous release, 2023’s Sea, being recorded during the uncertainty of the pandemic, sessions were often conducted remotely or piecemeal as restrictions allowed.

That process left the band longing for something more immediate, communal — and human. “This time, we wanted it to feel real — no click tracks, no isolation,” says the band. “Just us, in a circle, feeding off each other. That’s what this record is about.” The result is Sunseeker: twelve tracks recorded live over just five days, capturing the moment with all five members together in one room at Brighton Road Recording Studios, Sussex, with Ali Gavan at the helm.

The album features tried and tested material from live shows alongside riskier brand new songs that kept them on their toes with the tape running.

This album is a sonic snapshot of a band at ease with themselves — honest, unfiltered, and joyfully cohesive. It invites listeners into the room, into the moment, and into the enduring friendship at
the heart of the band’s music.

Sunseeker is released on Music’s Not Dead
Records on 26th September 2025, physically
and on all major streaming platforms.
The Equatorial Group are:
Neil Grimes - Drums, vocals
Dave Davies - Guitars, vocals
Helen Weeks - Guitar, pedal steel, vocals

about

The Equatorial Group Eastbourne, UK

Hailing from the sleepy seaside town of Eastbourne on England’s Sussex coast, The Equatorial Group is formed of five friends from various and differing musical backgrounds. By navigating and taming this musical tug-of-war, they have created three records, in which some listeners hear the shadows of Neil Young or the colours of Fleetwood Mac. ... more
