Noel Gallagher has released the first single from his forthcoming solo album - well, I dig it. This comes on the heels of brother Liam's new band Beady Eye's album. So expect some comical verbal sparring between the brothers Gallagher.

Big brother strikes back
After the success of Liam Gallagher's Beady Eye, it seems that estranged brother Noel is planning a solo album to be released later this year. Sources say this has gone much further than the mere planning stage and that recording is underway. The album, so far untitled, is rumoured to have the following tracklisting:
1. The Magic Can’t Be Right
2. Stop The Clocks
3. Freaky Teeth
4. Mile High Moon
5. Come On It’s Alright
6. God Help Us All
7. Don’t Stop Being Happy
8. Red, White And Blue
9. If I Had A Gun
10. I Want To Live In A Dream In My Record Machine

Well that's a surprise
Back in the day, this would have been called, "an happening." The hype surrounding the new band to rise out of the ashes of Oasis has been such that this has been the most eagerly awaited album in years. Mind you this band is basically Oasis minus Noel.
I was expecting a car crash of an album as I think were a lot of people - would Liam mess up without Noel's guiding hand?
The truth is quite the opposite and whilst the album doesn't contain a track like, 'Don't Look Back In Anger,' or 'Wonderwall,,' There are no such anthems as those that got the world singing, but it is far better than the last few Oasis albums.
At times it sounds like The Who, at others like The Beatles and surprisingly The Monkees. Liam's vocal on Millionaire sounds as if John Lennon was doing a Davy Jones impression. Yep, Liam Gallagher may be a fucking idiot but he's our fucking idiot - the lyrics may make no sense but there are some good tunes here - Morning Sun stood out for me. I think the one thing that stops the listener taking the album seriously, is that Liam still tends to put himself across like the teenage rebel in his lyrics, and yet when away from the recording studio he's pushing a clothing line and taking the kids to school.
And what about Noel?
Liam recently spoke to Uncut magazine on that very subject and said,
"It's all very hush-hush 'round his camp. I put up with 18 years of that fucker so I'm arsed what he's doing. I'm sure it will be all very civilised and grown-up. One of those gigs you can really stroke your chin at. With four rent-a-Scousers wearing shell-suits. This is the whole fucking myth, mate. Me and him never really spent any time with each other. He did the soundcheck. I walked onstage, had it, went backstage, had a drink. He'd go to his room... fuck knows what he'd get up to there, probably putting women's clothes on."
Still it's Noel's solo album we are really waiting for...

Big brother strikes back
Good to know the feuding Gallagher brothers are still fighting, it makes for better entertainment you see - 24 hours after Liam announced tour dates for his new band, Beady Eye, Noel has now gone into the studio to work on his solo project -
NOEL GALLAGHER is moving on from OASIS by starting work on his first solo album, recruiting THE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS star MILES KANE as a collaborator for his debut.
Gallagher stunned fans when he quit Oasis in August last year (09) following a fight with his singer brother Liam.
The band subsequently split and Liam recently returned to the music scene with a new group, Beady Eye, while Noel has now begun to record new material.
Kane reveals he played guitar on one of Noel's new tracks as a favour after the rocker helped out by providing vocals for his own solo offering.
He says, "I was mixing the record and I was going to do these harmonies to give it a boost - it was a bit flat. I text him (Gallagher) saying, 'I need some icing on this tune' and he said, 'Icing is what I do very well.'
"It's only a really subtle thing on the middle eight and the chorus of this song called My Fantasy. It's nice, I'm very honoured that he did it. It's a nice little touch.
"(In return) I play guitar on one of his songs for his album. I was only in there (in the studio) for a couple of hours. I did my thing. That was in return for me going on his one."
