SUBSHIFT Celebrates "Rockin' With" On 1001 Recordings
SUBSHIFT takes over 1001 Recordings Radio duties to celebrate his new collab together with KARTY. “Rockin’ With” is a gritty, dirty club track for the after hours, and SUBSHIFT’s mix keeps that theme going. Get ready for 60 minutes of up front tech house music with cuts from Discip, Jeff Sorkowitz, Pedroz, Solardo, TOYZZ, VOLAC & more!
Hey Jake, thanks for being with us to celebrate “Rockin’ With.” What has the build up and early response on this release been like through your eyes?
Hey, thanks for having me! The response has been amazing. Just a few days after finishing the record it got spun by Gorgon City & Chris Avantgarde at EDCLV. We knew we were onto a winner at that point. Since then I’ve had so many messages asking for the record so I'm super excited to finally get it out there. And no better place to do that!

Take us through the production for “Rockin’ With.” What was the initial inspiration and how did you progress from there to the final track we hear today?
When I first started v1 of the record, I wanted a really gritty, dirty club track for the after hours spots. I sent this version over to Karty who tweaked the bassline a little, and added those insane leads to both drops. We then just went back and forth over the final details until what we have now. You can definitely hear it’s a 50/50 split of both of our sounds!

You seem to have some nice chemistry with KARTY. What do you like most about working together?
I think we are both on the same wavelength to start with. We like to experiment inside the DAW so I knew when I was working on the record I wasn’t worried that KARTY might find things too ‘weird’ or out of the box. I think this is what led us to what “Rockin’ With” is today, with all those crazy leads, fx and automations. Also, he’s a super nice guy which makes it 10x easier! It’s always great working with someone you click with, and we got to work on this record after we met at ADE last year.

What does it mean to you to release “Rockin’ With“ on 1001 Recordings?

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve searched for track IDs on there. This release feels extra special to me because, after playing at Tomorrowland in 2023, it’s amazing to now put out a record on a co-label between two brands I truly respect.

Let's talk about your mix. How did you approach curating the tracks and the overall flow?
For this mix I tried to include all of the sounds I’m enjoying at the minute. House music is in a really nice space right now, and I'm enjoying a lot of the niche sounds popping up. I started off a bit groovier, pushed the energy in the middle, and ended near to where we started. I had to include a few of my own, as well as a couple of crazy IDs from friends too.

Can you pick two artists included and why they stand out to you?
Two artists that I have included records from in the mix are POLOVICH and Cave Studio. I have previous collaborations with them both including “Vibin’” and “Get Loose.” They have both been on an absolute tear up this year, and I urge everyone to listen to them!

As we draw towards the end of 2025, how has this year been for you? What have been some other key moments?
This year has had its ups and downs as always, but I’m really happy with how it’s gone. I have released on some great labels, played some really nice shows and even went on my debut Australia tour which was crazy! Aside from that, starting my own imprint SHFTD has been really fun. It’s always nice to be able to drop music whenever you want and I have one last release there to finish the year off. So stay tuned!

And looking ahead, what has you excited? Any big plans that you would like to share?
My US Visa has been approved! It’s something I have been working on for a while, especially as most of my audience and listeners are from there. I’m hoping to get there early next year, and I cannot wait. It’s been a long time coming. So to all my listeners in the US, see you soon!
