Siri does more than ever. Even before you ask.

Siri is Apple’s personal assistant technology that debuted in 2011 with the iPhone 4S. Apple purchased Siri in 2010. At the time, it was a dedicated app on the iPhone. When it became built into the iPhone, it could do basic things like play music and make phone calls.

Now, it can do things like integrate with third-party messaging apps. payments, ride-sharing service, calling app, set timers, get directions, add reminders, start TV shows on the Apple TV, make language translations, search for photos, open documents, interact with your smart home though HomeKit, and a lot more.

In iOS 12, it became integrated into more third-party apps through Shortcuts. Companies can build their own interactions for the service to work with.

Law proposed to ban AI companies from selling your health data | Of a three-dimensional X-ray with DNA strand and molecule structure

People commonly disclose all kinds of personal data to AI chatbots, including the highly inadvisable practice of asking them for health advice. In addition to the grave medical dangers of obtaining inaccurate advice, users are also running significant privacy risks.

Hands-on with Denon Home 200: Strong HomePod alternative with Siri integrations

Apple’s HomePod has only been updated once since its original debut back in 2018, and even the 2023 revamp was nothing to write home about. For as good a speaker as the HomePod is, it feels like one of Apple’s more neglected products. You would think that with the massive push to AI and the recent unveiling of Siri AI, Apple would have modernized the HomePod, but we are still waiting. So, when Denon released their new Home 200 that had some very friendly Siri and Apple ecosystem features, I had to give it a try. After using it as my main home and office speaker for a few months, it feels like the modern HomePod Apple is yet to deliver. Here are my thoughts!

Siri demos in keynote were a little slow, but that's good-ish news | Screenshot of one of the Siri demos

A number of people have been complaining that the new Siri demos during the keynote videos were a little on the slow side. There were notable lags of several seconds between Siri requests and the task being carried out.

But while the ideal we’re aiming for is for AI tasks to be carried out as quickly as possible, what we saw is kind of good news …
