semalam after fira's wedding, i saja check out my hall again since our dewan just above fira's hall (dewan seri melati). the staffs were preparing for night reception...hopefully they didnt mind i took some pics & shared it here for benefit of those previously asking me on this hall..esp uyaa hehe...we were shortlisting MBSA banquet hall & perbadanan pjaya hall previously, but finally settled with pjaya due to its close proximity to in-laws house :)

some info to share, the name is Dewan Seri Siantan. with capacity of 1000 pax seating, this how the interior look like :



since we'll be having only 500 guests..we took Dewan Siantan 1...a partitioned version of Dewan Seri Siantan...very small kan

all in all i could conclude fave query from the b2b-ies is rate for udey, ikram & syomir. it would be alot easier if i could publish the rate here but im just not going to. reason being, vendor tu sendiri pun tak publish his rate in his web...i had to respect their policy as well :)

the Yaasin finally delivered to my office tengahari tadi, the stamping for cover ada silap sikit but they'll reprint new copies in next few days. i'm satisfied with the content; the wording very neat, every single line of ayat Yaasin came with tafsir...and they also include some daily doa :) thank you so much to vendor.

my auntie called, informing the quran hantaran now dah safely with her. thanks to her for sponsoring :) the dulang slot actually dah full...and i've got no plan to add up anymore dulang. so let's just share the slot with kain sembahyang & get Nasz to work the magic hee!

btw, i just received shocking news from one of my vendor tadi. i'll call the co. tomorrow to cancel my booking & make necessary arrangement for this new offer. btw, it's great to still having you for our wedding! thanks again for letting us know... :)

The in-laws finally scrap the idea of having telur pindang to all guests, after many feedbacks from relatives that it’s not a hit as in johor & most probably it would be a waste since not many guests can accept the exotic taste of telur pindang. My fiancé being an obsessed johorian down sikit.....but his fiancee always know how to bring his smile back...”awak, we still got slot for merenjis gift...boleh la kasi telur pindang..” ;) Since they’ll be less than 20pcs, fiancé said if ada yg buang pun he not ralat…I’m glad fiancé got the buy in for his fave tradition gift finally, even not for all.

As for the telur deco, we decided to maintain the traditional form of bunga pahar/perenjis. I ain’t a collector of bunga pahar & never was a fan, but I love the fact it’s a tradition found in our Malay wedding & these differences that actually made up the beauty of one culture from another…hopefully im not bias, tho capricornians are naturally a traditionalist, I only realized my interest for tradition stuffs developed (rapidly) after so much attached with wedding preparations.

So we ordered few pieces of bunga perenjis for majlis bertandang. Since mostly the perenjis is couple, we as much wanted to avoid giving the same gift to husband & wife. Result from our discussion with decorator last weekend, we will maintain the tradition of bunga pahar giving to perenjis…except, we’ll make different bunga for ladies & gentlemen. I’m pleased with one of the samples; came in sweet combo of silver & pink ... :)

last weekend :

- went to sec14 for custom made balloon. they dont have what i want..if again tak jumpa, i'll scrap off the idea...
- went to uncle Tony for his suit in pj. fiance salah dgr the quotation & the price turned out beyond the budget...we're doing some reconsideration, but i know fiance really want uncle tony to tailor his suit..hmm
- teman fiance for first fitting in shah alam, nothing major for alteration..except fiance looked really kurus. he really bengang i asyik ejek he got nice pinggang, like girls! :P
- singgah choffles damansara, ordering sugarbox
- met up decorator in batu caves. requoted some items & lepak until 2 freaking a.m.
- pagi supposed appoinment with 2 cake makers in pj, cancel last minit..
- the whole sunday spent in jln TAR. sadly, none of the kedai i went ada the stuff to diy my bunga pahar hantaran :( last resort : order online
- jumpa hantaran decorator in setapak after visit wesz yg baru dpt baby (congrats!). by the time, i dah sgt letih & sort of unprepared. concept almost finalized & the tray pun mcm sesuai je :)
- both days started with gym session in the morning & had to rush sbb byk wedding tasks to do..

i only need this simple stewardess-hairdo for home reception. no veil or tiara that day...just thick-er bun & hairpin/flower. inspiration mainly from zahnita in prev pengantin mag, the one she in cosry's hehe..




the dream bertandang hairstyle =) i wonder why susah gile to get this pic, i think the style is very common but mostly googled from internet the bun very tinggi or the fringe turning too fancy...finally i jumpa this in indon bridal mag, very decent...so i didnt wait to snap hehe...

fiance's form dah settle, abah currently chasing for signatures required for my borang. the steps for penang pengantin is available here for reference :) to senangkan keje, get your ayah to research awal2 pegawai masjid/ajk qaryah in your place - pej agama daerah purposely being secretive so that pengantin/family will put effort to know the qaryah. senang nak fix appoinment later..

and do note, interview is wajib for all penang pengantin. the soalan wajib lulus (they really tulis this in the form hehe) spt di bawah :

ibu & myself were in Jln TAR this morning, hunting for budget-friendly bunga pahar from the shop i surveyed earlier. ready stocks tak cukup, so we ordered the remaining. we settled off with 2 types of bunga pahar, to satisfy citarasa berbeza ibu & anak. down sikit, ibu rejected my idea to change the ribbon to tiffany polkadots. to her, polkadots design too childish :( fine.

the stuffs insyaAllah will ready by mid jan. loose pack for DIY bunga pahar as hantaran not found tadi. the SAs cakap they never sell the stuff, hey takkanlah...i know kat nilai 3 ada, but i dont want to travel all the way just to get only 25pcs of it? hmm..i should check out klim craft/sayang you next visit...

btw, we saw cinderella carriage on sale tadi. ibu as usual, excited. i had to remind her many times tadi we dont need one :( they aint cheap & plus, i was never a fan of dulang yg cover brg hantaran e.g. birdcage, pumpkin carriage... kan dh hire decorator, let her work the hantaran out...

finally...we bought tafsir quran for hantaran too. the wording very neat. and the best part, they came in matching tiffany box & tasbih too :)

found link of this vendor while bloghopping to kak shaja's. if you still remember this post... secretly im still hoping for angel vendor who can accept small order for this nice Yaasin. they may not stand as nice to what i found in jakarta, but the cover seems so neat...and one thing that made me think it's a perfect maintable gift is, oftenly, those who eat with pengantins are veterans..and most of time, religious stuff is one that close to their heart, kan :)

we're done, 26th Nov 09. fiance sgt proactive, calling everywhere since last 2 weeks to find out convenient place to do hiv test while his tunang goyang kaki layan blog hehe..

we did ours at klinik kesihatan shah alam seksyen 7. no hassle at all & no horror stories to share..less than an hour, semua siap. tak ramai ppl, maybe sebab org dh balik cuti raya haji hehe..no appoinment required, weekdays 2-4pm only.

our hantaran stuffs almost ready, last monday dah pick up tiny bag from this aunty. i bought 2 stuffs from different online sellers, and they are truly recommended in term of service..pantas :) and alot cheaper than this famous local site. courier from US pun tak sampai seminggu dah dpt hehe..only one hantaran item left, which awal2 lagi we decided to delay...it's a gadget, lagi lambat beli, harga lagi turun..and since our survey in may...the harga had turun rm300...so let's tunggu lagi until end of Year End Sale ;)

our wedding card & favors dah safely ordered last weekend. the card vendor also do favor box - so we ordered both items ni terus from him in pasar tebet. the place was real stuffy, so abah malas to wait for my usual long-discussion with vendor so i had to end up doing the proofreading & all using email or phone je later - which i hated most becos the risk of miscommunication is high :( i hope to settle the proofreading asap so our vendor could deliver the stuffs by xmas week.

kain for sisters & bridesmaids finally complete. abah give up sebab susah sangat getting the right tiffany for the ladies hehe, mayestik dah nak tutup baru we found the hidden gem...at cheap price :) we jalan2 at plaza indonesia that night, sempat grab one item for hantaran which was sold cheaper than kl..

final day baru singgah mangga dua. prev trip tak sempat hunting wedding accesories sbb both geminian besties asik teruja dgn jam ciplak yg sgt chic kat sane tsk tsk! choice for accessories in M2 mmg banyak, but finding the dream tiara not as easy as i thot...i was looking for decent tiara which fits these criterias : rendah, detailing penuh & tengahnya peak sikit...ala2 below...mostly they have either too small or too big ala2 beauty pageant tuuu...only one shop i found close to my spec..beli jela, price pun murah hehe...

during lunch hr, faeizah & myself buat amazing race to pameran pengantin in pwtc. surprisingly, ctcatering not participating..selalu they're like muka wajib in any wedding fair hehe..

im still in midst of hunting our wedding cake, we dropped by all cake booths kat situ & mostly the quotation starts rm600 for 3-tiers cake. Isabella's promo quite interesting, rm440 for 3-tiers (6kgs) but when we requested for sample of that 3-tiers...my, they're too small for my size...so pulang dgn sedikit kecewa. anyhow, both of us love this mini by Isabella....sama2 sibuk snap pic ;P

today, fiance joining myself at nearby Old Town to sort out wording & detail for our wedding card (since we'll be sharing one!). we had to finalize asap as the order will be made this weekend, together with our doorgifts.

we fixed out the doorgifts, and their packaging. we had to line up some backups in case the vendors reject sebab tak lepas minimum quantity hehe..tomorrow i'll meet up fira, she has agreed to help me out with photoshop-ing the monogram....

since fiance wont be around during the card ordering, we discussed the design & layout for the card too - of course, there were moments we agreed to each other & fight over little little things :) one of stuff we bertekak was the agenda for majlis bertandang. ideally, we want the majlis to start 8.30pm, but based from experience, it's most likely to slip..and usually 8.45pm baru start kan..so we argued what's the best timing to put in our card for "ketibaan pengantin" to alert the guest what's the latest time they should already be in hall hehe...so friends, i need your opinion...

i love reading mat saleh's wedding mags, but hardly buy them becos they're so expensive & not much we can apply to our local wedding. the most i would buy is their old collection becos they're sold cheap (usually half price) and these are 'latest' i managed to grab during my outstation to Miri last few days...they're May-June 2009 edition, price each mcm mag Pengantin je hehe..i prefer the white mag - found inspiration for my plain cake & doily paper...i didnt realize berapa kali i khatam the white mag from hotel sampai dalam flight hehehe :P

if you're into mat saleh's wedding mag too & not willing to spend much like me, you can go to these 2 shops..one in cineleisure tingkat bawah (nearby escalator) and satu lagi in taipan commercial area tu..sorry, tak ingat the shop name ;P there are few more out there, but so far these 2 are my fave sbb banyak wedding mags and sambil2 can tengok wayang or layan takoyaki yg sedap di taipan ;D

so next time when u're craving for martha stewart's wedding mag, tunggu je lagi 3 mths for new release...nanti the old one serta merta je half-price & left about belas2 ringgit je..(lagi murah dari Ratu Sehari hehe..)

last 2 weeks, we met the designer & shared him this inspiration for my baju nikah. im not blessed with any creativity to design & sketch my dream dress, so i just pick few pix of favourite dresses and do the mix & match of my preference.

for nikah, my all time fave is white kurung moden...with some lace patching & sulam. while design wise, i love any kurung moden with bukaan kebaya in the middle...similar to diana-zamarul's reception dress featured in recent Pengantin mag :)

i told them to lining the lengan as well, but make it abit jarang from the rest portion of the dress...like what aleya had...(copycat lagi hehe...)

btw, i didnt tailor my veil from same designer sbb too expensive :( ...i hope to find other tailor to jahit my veil soon. but i need the designer to potong the lace portion for dress first, so i could take the remaining for veil patching...honestly, malu gile nak request him to do that but i dont have any choice...

yesterday we met up with Syawal and somehow after the discussion, i can foresee the potential problem i might have with this caterer later. im a little dissapointed at first, but thinking back, even the famous caterer pun ada problem, so i'd better be calm and think of some backup plan je :) it would be so unfair to give unpleasant review before engaging their service & seeing the real result. furthermore, the problem is not on food side...more to decorative stuffs hehe :)

prior to our meet up, i read back some comments & concern some readers raised on this caterer. and i could conclude mainly are below & addressed to syawal :

- food so-so. some said great, but none said tak sedap at all :)
- slow food replenishment. this may not really applicable cos we're having makan serentak..our risk may be nasi/dessert/coffee lambat serve
- waiters slow & tak alert. part ni my biggest worry but dah solve abit. syawal will provide 1 waiter for every 2 tables (1:2)
- barang yang dijanjikan tak disediakan. *gulp* the least he could offer now is checklist a day before event & he need my rep to be on site during prep for checking.. can la :)

syawal also shared some tips :

- appoint one rep to deal with caterer during the event. caterer always had problem when so many family members campur tangan to direct them doing mcm2
- get sufficient ushers if u have assigned seating, but it's always better not to have it at all (esp guest 500 above) sbb nanti jam dpn entrance. if u still want to do it, loose abit by just putting sign at few tables and let them freely pick which they belong to e.g. "bride's friends", "telekom staffs"
- state in your invitation guest arrival within 7.45 - 8pm. let them know any nearest surau/musolla so they could perform their maghrib at your place
- dont pick theme similar to your hall or carpet..and your color should outdo these 2 items
- balance out your thick rendang ayam/daging with light sayur. pajeri nanas too heavy to fit this combo

and i sempat asked him how to benchmark canopy price (after terkejut reading mira's post)...before ni i only refer here as quick guideline. as per syawal :

- arabian canopy with table & chairs (rm300-350)
- complete with standard/butterfly scallop (rm400-450)
- complete with scallops & chair cover+ribbon & fan+lampu (rm500-550)
- underlayer (rm100)
- chandelier (max rm100)
- mist fan (rm100-rm180)


we finally placed deposit for our catering. malas to fikir lagi cos getting caterer who can offer below rm25/pax for seating event not that easy and so far the well knowns are suri catering, siti catering and yeob catering being the cheapest (rm20/pax siap meja & kerusi banquet lagi hehe)

btw, we heard lots of insufficient food during kenduri & kebetulan i bumped into Mutiara Catering's site and they commented on this issue : Part 1 & Part 11. it's worth reading :)

i took one day leave & spent my recent weekend in my hometown, visiting abah who just had a minor surgery. alhamdulillah, he's getting better :) i promised myself not to discuss any wed prep last visit, considering abah's condition. but abah was the one beria & initiated the discussion since my brother too getting engaged this coming dec. i still remember last raya when my bro asked my mum to look out for engagement ring. ibu & myself were clueless, until ibu finally said "pi lah beli dgn dia, biaq dia pilih. kan dia yang nak pakai.." i nodded to bro & smile, very much agreed to ibu's suggestion...

back to my prep, abah will hire Pakcik Brahim for catering. he used to be our caterer for few of our family events, but yang peliknya, so far i tak penah rasa his food pun hehe...for canopy & props etc, P.Brahim will outsource to other vendor since he only do catering. abah specified his canopies, chairs, layout etc. i like them all, except no. of canopies proposed which seems sedikit for the guest numbers :( nvm, raya haji nanti we'll meet up P.Brahim - will seek for his advise & let him talk to abah should he think the same too :) btw P.Brahim, if u cant find any white+clean+tegang canopy, im fine with whatever you have hehe...

alhamdulillah, bestie shafaf finally selamat diijabkabulkan with her hubby, firdaus on friday. few unpleasant things happened that day; makeup artist didnt turn up due to emergency, air takde seharian, pengapit tidak dapat dikesan sehari sebelumnya hehe....but im impressed shafaf managed her stress very well and somehow, things will fall into place in the end they said - which is very very true :)

early friday morning, teman her and arfah to floristika to get some flowers for her bouquet. the chinese lady was so rude when we asking for suggestion, we pejamkan mata je cos dah last minute kan hehe :) then to SSF, buying the remaining organza pouch for nikah favors. i excused myself 2hrs to gym dulu then pegi rumah shafaf to help her DIY-ing the bouquet.



kak liza's relative passed away, so she replaced with her friend. lupe nak tanya nama cos we were so excited tengok shafaf di-makeover hehe..lawa, and the makeup style very close to kak liza's. accessories by Saidatulnisa's boutique & her pretty dress by kimie kajang.

next month will due for invitation card order. to jimat, we decided to share same card - the most to differentiate bride's & groom's invitation maybe color ribbon kot :) the funny thing, bride will have blue ribbon while the groom's card with er, pink ribbon :P itu pun if our budget allows for ribbon hehe!

abah said 1000pcs dah cukup for both weddings, but i'll order some extras just in case. i've read somewhere better to order extra 25-50pcs rather than placing new order later which will cost u lots higher.

knowing our malasness, we'll be picking anything off-rack je. sebulan (or most 2 mths?) je kan siap? hopefully we can send out latest by early jan =)

we finally booked photographer for our majlis bertandang. until last Tuesday, he still asking "dah habis survey ke ni?" honestly we didn't :P we did seek quotation from as many photographers but we only met up with few who meet our budget & liking. we loved the finished pictures to look as much natural to real event, so we only shortlist photographers who not keen doing the kabus-kabus or anything like "brushpaint" effect. 1 or 2 pics are ok with such editing, but not the whole album - it'll lose its art, IMHO hehe :)

yesterday was pre-sale for Isetan member card :) ajak my fiance hunting for hantaran and after work, we off to one in The Garden. heaven, dapat shopping dgn tenang dan tanpa beratur panjang seperti di klcc yeay :P

perfume as usual mane2 pun no discount, isetan only offer extra freebies for this pre-sale. i got rm120 vouchers to spend off, so oklah. bought the latest Gucci for him, which he insisted for hantaran. the woody smell so sexy on him, and very masculine too :) im not going to get any perfume or toiletries, cos honestly i dont quite like it as my hantaran kahwin (engagement takpe, cos if sume food/manisan sure boring kan..). reason being, sebotol perfume can buy bebile je when old perfume dah habis and price of full set perfume can afford me a nice purse or handbag or even Nine West pair...so i feel so rugi to waste hundreds only for perfume hehe..

then, i got him bag that he wanted so much for hantaran. i was so happy cos the bag is on 50% discount only for yesterday (today back to normal price), and on top of that we redeemed rm30 vouchers from his perfume purchase :) jimat lagi...

heels for hantaran, none really caught my eyes. i ended up spending for my kasut keje which on 40% discount. Aldo office shoes pun left below rm200, quite a bargain but HP is more comfy to my feet after few tryouts :)

p/s : thanks faeizah for lending her Isetan card to my fiance..if not he kena duduk luar hehehe..

few things to update in one entry :)

finally yesterday, after 8 months, i berjaya jugak jejakkan kaki balik to gym (ppl, i gained 12 kilos after my engagement). to be honest, i never like workout - esp the tiring cardiiiiooooooo. and i only semangat to kurus whenever there's occasion that need me to bergambar - vacation, engagement and now wedding. otherwise, i'm eating like so nobody's business :P my colleague faeizah menjadi saksi during my turun-naik since 2007 hehe. i start to feel the tense during raya, one of aunty joking "kau buffet tetiap hari ke bulan puasa ni?" and abah was so serious too warning about getting kurus - but he's more to health reason.

good news, since i've been loyal member to FF since 2007, (baya memanjang tapi pegi can kira with jari je) they upgrade me to First Club member yesterday, and one of benefit, i can bring guest f.o.c. during weekend - so fiance got no reason to excuse yes yes yes!! pergi berdua barula semangat sikit kan hehe! the not so good news, parking is no longer free for FF member :(

btw friends, i need to shed off 10kilos by dec, wish me luck :)
