Sweet Sketch Wednesday - lilac loveliness

Here's a little card I'd like to enter into Sweet Sketch Wednesday.
I chose a load of bits of lilac paper from my scrap box and dusted off my heat embossing gear to make the stamped image in the middle.
Here is the sketch I was following...
... and I think I did a better job this week :)

Playing with my new toy

My (very lovely) mother-in-law gave me her Cricut machine, which is an electronic die cutting system.
So, this morning I've been having a play and made these cards.
A birthday card for a boy. Just using printed papers.

And a card for a girl. The image is stamped and hand coloured.
I love making personalised cards, and this machine cuts out fabulous letters in super quick time.

I also made this...
It's a personalised post-it note book; really easy - I'm going to make some more, in fact I feel a tutorial coming on!!

I love you more than...

Chocolate?

Beer and bacon?
Gin? I'm not sure I could say that ;)

Sewing? oh, no, I definitely couldn't say that!!
These are little A6 cards, hand stamped with any message you like!

What do you love your partner more than??

Handmade Thursday - a birthday card

It's been a while since I made a card.
Lazy I guess.
But this is for the mother-in-law who is a card maker herself. She actually appreciates a handmade card and the thought which goes into it.

The ladybird is a stamp I got free from a magazine. Not that long ago, I think it was possibly Simply Homemade. I coloured it with my watercolour pencils. Papers came from my stash, and the greeting is handwritten.

Christmas cards!!!!!!

So here are my first two Christmas cards. I tend to make them a few at a time and all slightly different because I do so dislike making something twice!!

To make these I used a digi-stamp for the first time - basically an image you print out instead of stamping with ink. I coloured it with my watercolour pencils which I love because they are super quick, finished with some glitter and a peel off greeting.

(This digi-stamp came from Imag-e-nation. If you sign up to their email newsletter they will let you download a free image every week.)

Cards for men

Just made this for my father-in-law with a stamp I bought a while back.
And this super simple one for a friend.

Birthday cards

A birthday card for a fellow cardmaker, stamped and hand coloured.
A card for my mother-in-law, cupcake is stamped and hand coloured.
And a card for my mum, a perpetual dieter! Stamped and coloured again.
With another picture on the back!

Wedding Invitations; first prototypes

A friend has asked me to make her some wedding invitations, which is very exciting, but rather a big responsibility!
This is the first design I've tried - just made with coloured paper and card and some ribbon.
Then I made this one; I like the colours and I also like the complete simplicity.
Then something a bit fancier. I made this with a cupcake stamp, hand painted. The colours aren't quite right - the card is chocolate, and the ribbon needs to be more pink.

Maths Birthday Card

I nicked this idea from a card I saw in a shop.
It's just some printed backing papers, and I've rubber stamped some sums on a piece of card.
This is for my eldest son James who will be seven on Friday.

I think it's a very useful idea, obviously it would work for any age!

Swinging

Haven't scrapbooked anything for a while, but here is a page featuring Anthony on the swing at Granny and Grandpa's.
Pretty plain and simple; I think I might have to add some more stuff if I can decide what it actually needs!

Birthday card for an Auntie

It seems to have been a long time since I made any cards!
This is one for my husband's auntie.
The bear picture is stamped, then watercoloured. The letter "J" is her first initial.
The papers are some I got free with a magazine a very, very long time ago. I'm pleased they came in useful eventually! The ribbons are plundered from my extensive stash.

Mother's Day card (x2)

Two variations on the same theme!
One for my mum, and one for the mother in law.

The teddy is a Forever Friends stamp which I have coloured in, mounted on some pretty papers and embellished with ribbons.
The words are also stamped.

40th birthday card

This is for my friend. I'm not sure I'm very pleased with it actually.
I've made it in a rush, and not all the different elements are working for me.
No time to start again though, and I don't think it's too terrible an effort.

Cakes and Scrapbooking - two of my favourite things!

I thought I'd try something different in my scrapbook, so here is a page featuring a few photos of my many cakes! If fact if you've looked at my blog before you'll probably recognise most of the photos.
The layout is pretty simple, some squares of paper with a stamped title.
The cupcakes are also stamped, then embellished with shiny glue, glitter and sequins.

Box of cards

Every time I made a card this year I tried to make an extra one.
There's quite a variety here; mostly birthdays, some blank, two new baby cards and a sympathy card.
I've packaged them up in cellophane bags.

I found an old box - it had some soap and a loofah in originally. I've covered up the words with some pretty paper and put all the cards in it.
These are for my mum as an extra Christmas present. She often asks me to make her a card, and now she can send genuine handmade greetings throughout the year.
(She can even claim them as her own work if she likes!)

Can you tell I hate doing the same thing twice?

More Christmas cards

I bought this stamp at the hobbycraft show at the NEC.
I've stamped it in black straight onto the card, then coloured it with pigment inks on a paintbrush, and added a little glitter for Christmas sparkle. The greeting is also stamped.

I also bought this stamp. This time I've coloured it in with felt tips.
The printed paper and ribbon are leftovers from last year's cards! The greeting is a peel off sticker.
