Shine!

Hi There! I am here with another simple journal page sharing this week's Bee Crafty Palette. If you are stuck for inspiration it's a great starting point and I love this combination!

I began by sponging Candied Apple, Cracked Pistachio and Wild Honey Distress oxide inks across the page.
Next, I took a Tag inkable and sprayed it with water, laid it over the coloured page, and after a few seconds, lifted it and mopped the excess water with a cloth.
Once this was dry, I added a little stamping using the same inks and Journaling Essentials #9 stamp set. I also sponged the edges of the page with the festive berries.
I added more stamping, this time using Versafine Clair black ink.
On a separate piece of card, I stamped and fussy cut the Doodle Art Dragonfly using black ink.
I added this to the page, along with a wordy Sticker and some faux stitching with a white Posca pen.
Here is the finished page once more....
....and here it is next to the page from last week. I love how similar elements have produced two such contrasting pages!
I used:
Distress Oxide inks - I used Candied Apple, Cracked Pistachio and Wild Honey
Versafine Clair ink - I used Black
Posca/ white gel pen
5x5" journal/ sketckbook

A new Colour Palette

Hi There! Happy New Year! Over on the Bee Crafty Facebook Group, Bev is giving us some stunning colour palettes to play around with for inspiration. Thought I would join in the fun AND make some Floral inspiration for the challenge at the same time. Here's how it came together

I began by blending inks across a page in my 5x5 journal. I used Victorian Velvet, Milled lavender and wilted violet Distress inks.
Next I used a tag inkable to add some Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide ink to the page.
On a separate piece of card I stamped and cut out the flower from Journaling Essentials #9, colouring it with coloured pencils.
Using the same stamp set I added more stamping in Monarch and Lilac Bloom Versafine Clair ink.

Finally I added the flower and a couple of wordy Stickers to the page with Matte Medium, along with some faux stitching with the coloured pencil and a white gel pen.
Here's the finished page again.
I used:
Wordy Stickers - I used 3B
Distress Oxide ink - I used Saltwater Taffy
Distress Inks - I used Wilted Violet, Milled Lavender and Victorian Velvet
Versafine Clair ink - I used Monarch and Lilac Blooms
Matte Medium
Coloured pencils
White gel pen

I have really enjoyed playing with some colours that I wouldn't normally use.

Coneflower Journal page

Here's my final journal spread of 2025. Let me show you how it came together.

I began by lightly dragging distress oxide ink pads down the page - I used Hickory Smoke, Tumbled Glass and Spun Sugar
Once this was dry, I added a bit of stamping using journaling essentials #9 and Black Versafine Clair ink.
I tore a piece of the A5 Catalyst Collage Paper- Cone flowers and added to each side of the pages with Matte Medium.
Using slightly darker shades of Distress Oxide inks (Worn Lipstick and Broken China) I added more stamping using the same journaling Essentials set.
On a separate piece of paper I stamped the larger Doodle Art Coneflower stamp in Versafine Clair ink and cut it out. I used Ecoline pens to colour it in.

I used Matte Medium to add the cone Flower and some wordy stickers to the page.
Finally, I added some faux stitching and white pen highlights.
Here is the finished spread again.
I used:
5x5" sketchbook
Distress oxide inks - I used Hickory Smoke, Tumbled Glass, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Broken China
Catalyst Collage papers - A5 Coneflowers
Wordy Stickers 3b

Abstract blue Christmas

Hi there! I am here with a little more inspiration for our Blue Challenge over in the Bee Crafty Stamps Facebook group. This sort of card doesn't have to be a Christmas one. You could use it for just about anything. Here is how I made it.

I began by spraying a piece of mixed media card with Blue sprays - I used oxide ink spray and distress spritz.
Once this was dry, I stamped a doodle art Mandala from set #2 onto the background and heat embossed in gold
Next I used the same process to add some doodle art snowflakes
Across the background I used more stamps from the doodle Art snowflake set and stamped in Chipped Sapphire distress oxide ink.

On a scrap of blue card, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in gold.
Finally I matted and layered the background to a white 5"square card and added the sentiment with 3d foam pads.
Here it is again capturing the shine from the embossing.

I used:
Doodle Art Snowflakes (Discontinued)
9cm square of mixed media card
Distress oxide sprays - I used prize Ribbon and Salty Ocean
Distress Spritz - I used Uncharted Mariner
Distress oxide ink - I used Chipped Sapphire
5x5" card blank
Coordinating card for matting and layering

Take time to breathe

Hi There! Thought I would take a little break from Christmas prep and have a few minutes art journaling. This is how the pages came together.

I began by spraying distress oxide sprays in spun sugar, Wild Honey and Prize ribbon onto a page in my Dylusions journal. I used a brush to make it a little more evenly spread.
When this was dry I used a face from the A5 Rainbow Thoughts Catalyst collage papers and added it to the page using Matte Medium.

Using Journaling Essentials #9 stamp set I added some stamping to the background using coordinating distress oxide inks then left to dry completely.
Finally I added a handwritten sentiment using acrylic markers.
Here are the finished pages again.

I used:
Distress oxide sprays - I used Spun Sugar, Wild Honey and Prize Ribbon
Distress oxide inks - I used Wild Honey, Broken China, Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet
Matte Medium
Posca pens or other Acrylic pens

I really enjoyed doing this although writing it myself is still out of my comfort zone! I hope you can join me for my Facebook live over on the bee crafty Facebook page at 8pm this evening.

Blues

Hi There! We have a new challenge in the Bee Crafty Facebook Group where the theme is Blues, so here is a little inspiration for you.

I began by spraying a piece of mixed media card with 3 shades of Distress oxide sprays.
I dried this and also smooshed another couple of pieces for future projects with the overspill onto the glass mat.
I used the star Dinkable and the embossing dabber to add embossing ink to 2 thirds of the blue background....

...before adding sparkly clear embossing powder and heat setting it.

Using another dinkable, I added prize ribbon distress oxide to the remaining 3rd of the background.
I matted and layered this onto a 5" square white card.
Next, I stamped the Christmas tree in brilliance ink onto a piece of frosted shrink plastic.
I carefully cut this out trying to avoid smudging the wet ink, before shrinking and drying with a heat gun. If you haven't used shrink plastic before, it is good to have a pokey tool or tweezers to hand as it wriggles as it shrinks.

Finally I added the tree, along with a wordy sticker sentiment to the card using 3d foam pads. This was a really fun make.
I used:
Dinkables - I used dinkables from set 1 and set 8
9cm square mixed media card
Embossing dabber
Clear sparkle embossing powder
Distress oxide ink - I used Prize Ribbon
Brilliance ink - I used Mediterranean Blue
5x5" white card
3d foam pads

Tis the Season... well almost!

Hi there! Wreaths are one of my favourite things to create on a Christmas card and there are lots of small worker stamps on Bee Crafty Stamp sets that lend themselves to this. Here's a card I made using the Baubleicious worker stamps.

I began with a 4x4inch square of cream card. I used the 4" circle easy frame to blend around with my brown ink brush (There was enough ink on the brush to do this without reinking it)
Next I used the pine branch from the worker stamps to add some stamping in Desert Sand memento ink
I also added some leaves in new sprout to the background.
I added some darker green leaves around the original circle.
Using Rhubarb Stalk ink, I added the sentiment in the middle and some berries around the wreath. I then matted and layered it onto coordinating card and a cream 5" square base card.
I added lots of berries and spots of glitter glue using a variety of Stickles and Liquid pearls.
Finally I used a green colouring pencil to colour in just the central leaves. The last two steps would have been better done the other way round!
Here is the finished card again.

I used:
Inks - I used Memento inks in Desert sand, New Sprout, Bamboo Leaves and Rhubarb Stalk
Green colouring Pencil
Stickles Glitter Glue and Liquid pearls
4" square of cream card
5" square base card
Coordinating card for matting and layering

There are just 4 more days to enter the challenge over in the bee Crafty Stamps Facebook Group. The theme is Sparkle, so a little glitter glue is all you need!
