Static White's Stitchery

Okay, lots of stops and starts this past week. I have also just started studying for what hopefully will be a new (additional) career. Unfortunately, since I've been trying to figure out what works best in getting both studying and sewing done, I have only finished two days worth of 365-worthy stuff. The good news is that I think I've figured out how not to exhaust or stress myself out doing both.

Anywho, now for the good stuff. This cutie pie was a test doll to work out the kinks of what I have in mine for my gaggle of nieces this Christmas. I customized it to my taste since I'm keeping it. Here is my 13" tall Cutie Vamp Doll.

The ones for my nieces will not have fangs or bat dresses but you get the idea. The next ones will be twice as large, and will be fleece where this one is felt for the most part. They'll also be all machine stitched except for detailed bits. I'd never finish if I had to sew them all by hand!

This is counting as two days because the doll body was done one day and the dress was redrafted and sewn the next available stitchy day.

Well, time for me to get studying! Yay?

Looks like Batlings are starting to slowly flap their way onto my work space. The latest arrival is a smirky little Red Batling with Black and White zebra striped wings and Golden Yellow eyes.

Because of the giveaway I got a bit behind on 365 posts but not on creating!

This is Nyateshi, an angel cat who got the heavenly boot for his unseemly behavior towards females. Naughty Nyateshi! As you can see he even misplaced his halo.

I also finished up the second winners Nyanpire and made another for good measure.

Oh, did I not mention that if I got over 100 entries I'd make another Nyanpire? I guess it was just one of those things that came up in my brain but never made it past my finger tips. It just makes it that much more of a surprise, right? Right. So I had random.org chose a second winner, too! Yay!

I'm feeling a little Halloween-y today so I stitched up an Orange Batling with sparkly Black wings and Golden Yellow glass eyes.

This one's got a bit of an underbite but it can still nibble your fingers and toes just fine! Not really. Or, could it?

Today things didn't go quite right. There were errands to run but closures and overbooking got in the way. Le sigh. Although, I did get a fancy new backpack! So there's that plus. I also made this absolutely friggin' adorable (if I do say so myself) Nyanpire! Otherwise known as a BatCat...

Don't you just want to squeeze the stuffing out of it? So stinking cute.

Ow! Don't bite! Okay-okay, "you are the night", Nyanpire. I got it. Sorry. Sheesh, now I need a bandaid.

I got my new business cards today. So, I decided to take a chunk of time today for printing and cutting new stickers, and making more of the bat-fetti I include in my packages.

There are two versions of my new business card (left and right) plus a snazzy magnet (center) and a nice big pile of stickers in the midst of cutting. I think the next batch of business cards definitely need to be glossy since I really like the look of the magnet.

The bat-fetti isn't shown since my camera batteries decided to go kaput on me right after this pic, but I punched out a lot of them! Recycling old band fliers that would otherwise be thrown away, of course.

I made a big batch of old-fashion soft pumpkin cookies tonight from scratch! The first dozen...

...okay, that's the next 8 pumpkin cookies. I may have claimed the first 4 for testing. I had to make sure they were good, of course!

If you want to make your own, I got the recipe here. I replaced the cinnamon and upped the nutmeg. Instead I used 3/8 tsp ginger & 1 1/8 tsp nutmeg. So good *nomnomNOM*!

I put the finishing touches on the chibi version of Vic Fuentes of Pierce the Veil! Yes, that is who I was turning into a cute, adorable, little chibi doll. The doll even has a nose ring like Vic!

Sheesh, everybody's got to get their picture with chibi-Vic now? Good thing chibi-Vic is going to his new home soon. I've got critters piddling themselves and swooning all over the place. Who's gotta clean up after them? Not chibi-Vic. Hmph.

I made another Valentine Batling for a trade (the other one sold!) and tried to make a chibi voodoo doll.

I'm not totally pleased with the voodoo doll though. I need to think about it some more. Maybe different colors? Hmm...

The white one makes me think of Honduran white bats. Yes, there are white bats! Super cute little powder puffs that hang out under big jungle leaves.

2013 has gotten off to a good start. I've decided to endeavor to create at least one thing a day, every day of 2013. What should I call it? Create 365? Another upside to doing a 365 is I'll post here more often. Yay!... Yay? Oh boy. No, no I can do this!

I was going to try this last year but well, you know, excuses.

Anyway, to start off the year I stitched up a baker's dozen of limited edition headbands! I did them over a couple days but I'm counting them all as day #1 since that's when I finished and listed them so nyah.

Challenge me will you, Ms Jinn?! I take your challenge and I give you the Wolf Bat!

It definitely was interesting working in a stretchy, 2 layer, semi-sheer, stripey industrial crazy goodness that was sent to me by DreadfulDesigns to transform and mix with some of my stash of wolfie faux fur. Hand stitching was more by feel than anything on the face and wings. And, Wolfie and I argued a bit but in the end it all worked out, don't you think?

Shadovnia has a new kitchen in year round Halloween decor so I hope she likes it! I also sent candy (of course), monster paper dolls & a purple with black bat print Chinese lantern.
