Oy!

Have you ever gotten so behind on something and just figured it would be easier to give up than to catch up? That's me and blogging lately. I just don't feel like I want to do it. It was easier when the kids were smaller and did and said funny things, but those days are long gone. They still do and say some funny things here and there, but I forget them way too easily lol.

February went by fairly quickly and ended with my birthday. It was good. I got up first thing to meet Nikki to run and by the time I got home Ryan had made me breakfast with the help of Jeremy. Blueberry pancakes, delicious! Then later that night Jeremy and the boys and I went out to dinner.

Ryan turned 10 this month! I feel kinda bad that I didn't do my annual birthday post this year. :( He got tons of good things and alot of money too. He bought himself a pair of Air Jordans. He wanted them really bad and there was no way I was spending that much money on them, he wears a man sized shoe so they are priced like a man sized shoe ;) So, we ordered some and they came yesterday, he loves them.

We've just been going, going, going with basketball season. It will be over for Ryan next Friday, for Tyson, not until mid April. Ryan's little team has struggled, since most of the teams in our league don't have "C" teams, they've been having to play older kids. They have improved so much though and their coaches are so great with them! Tyson's team has been doing awesome and are undefeated in their league. They have improved so much from last year and Tyson personally has improved a TON! Mostly with confidence, last year, he was finally feeling confident towards the end to shoot the ball, this year it only took him a few games to get into his groove.

A couple of weeks ago, Jeremy came home and was telling me that his friend at work was selling a jeep. We ended up buying it and got a great deal on it. I figure it will be good for the boys to learn to drive on and then maybe they can drive it when they are old enough, Tys has only 4 years to go!

February already!

Not sure how that happened. Ususally January seems like the longest month ever but it flew by. We've just been getting into a routine with the boys basketball schedule. February started off pretty busy, last Thursday Tyson and Ryan both had games at home. They both played really well! Ryan had his first basket of the season and Tyson had 16 points. We went to Pahrump the following afternoon for another game for Tyson. They played well, but lost by 4 points. The following morning, we got up early and headed to Moapa for a 3 game tournament. They won 1 game and lost 2 but they were really close games and they played really well. Tyson is doing really well this season, I think he's got around 70 points so far and they're just barely getting started. I'm glad he's finally getting more confident to shoot the ball.

2 funny stories about Tyson...the other day, he had gotten an itunes gift card (Christmas gift from my bestie who was fashionable late on gifting them this year ;) and so he was trying to decide what movie to get with it. He had probably 6 or 8 that he was debating between and so I walked in and found him with something like this drawn up...

'The Other Guys' ended up victorious over 'Grown Ups' in the championship round. Ha!

Also, a few days before that I was starting dinner and he came in and said to me "I'm gonna take a quick nap, can you wake me up at 4:55?" They had been having practice at 7 all week that week, so I figured he was gonna get up at 5 to eat some dinner so he would have a little time to digest before his 7:00 practice....So, I thought it was kinda weird to begin with because when he had come and told me that it was already 4:40. But, he had been up since about 5:30 that morning because his drama class had a breakfast that they had to be at by 6 that morning...anyways, so I'm fixing dinner and I walk in to wake him up and it was like 4:58. So, I woke him up and told him it was 5. He jumps up and is all "It's 5!" I thought he was just disoriented or whatever and I told him "Calm down, you're not late or anything." So, I walk into the other room and then walk back into the living room and he's there with his jacket and practice bag, etc. Turns out, he had practice at 5 that day. I was dying laughing. I'm like, seriously, who lays down for a nap at 4:40, expects to be up at 4:55 for practice that starts at 5? lol. I know the gym is only a block away, but still. Too funny. We laughed and laughed about it all night. Well, he didn't really think it was that funny, but I died laughing everytime I would tell anyone about it.

Also, for those of you that like a good giveaway, my SIL Leslie is having a big 1 year Blogiversary celebration on her blog this week. She has several giveaways every day, I think over 30 total! You have until Sunday to enter them all so go check them out here!

A little of this...a little of that...

This post is gonna be all over the place. There's your warning!

Tyson had ball games out of town this weeked. I had swapped rides with a friend so he rode with them. I hate not seeing him play, but after seeing the new schedule that goes into mid April, it's clear the best way to go about things is to trade rides every once in awhile. He played pretty well, he had 5 points, but they ended up losing by 5. Ryan and I went to Vegas to get some shopping done on Friday. It seemed we were out or running out of everything! We had a nice little lunch date together at Red Robin.

My SIL had ordered us this cute craft kit from this etsy shop.

I worked on it Saturday while Jeremy was gone to work. I had different paper and didn't do all the embellishments, but my only complaint was that our "frosting" didn't look smooth and creamy like in this picture. It cracked. :'(

I wanted to throw this out there for anyone who was interested...if you haven't tried these, you must!

LOVE them! So so easy and cute. They last forever, I swear I'll probably never paint my nails again! They're on sale half off at GroopDealz right now. Click here to get in on the deal!

Last, but not least...I committed over here to participate in a "Pay it Forward" for 2011. Now, hers is of the handmade variety, but I can't say for sure I might not switch mine up a bit, regardless, whatever I do give you will be fabulous, you can count on that. So, if you would like to play along, here are the rules...

Pay it Forward 2011: I promise to send something to the first 7 people who leave a comment. They must in turn post this and send something they made/bought to the first 7 people who comment. The rules are that it must be handmade (or bought ;) by you and it must be sent to your 7 people sometime in  2011.

Feel free to change your rules, number of people you're sending to, etc to whatever you like.

It's that time of year...

again! Basketball season! We're just getting into the swing of it, Tyson had his first game last weekend, and Ryan had his first game this past Friday afternoon. Tys has done well, he had 12 points yesterday, along with a couple rebounds, steals, assists, etc. Here is a picture of them at the start of Friday's game against Pahrump.

After Tys's game, we had about an hour til Ryan's started. We came home for a min and I got dinner ready to go so I could just put it in the oven when we got home from the game. When we got to Ryan's game, about 10 min before it was supposed to start, the previous game was running a little behind. We watched them play while we waited for Ryan's game to start. My nephew got a little tired and ended up having a nice little nap on the bleachers...

Ryan is on what they call the "C" team. It's made up of 3rd - 6th graders. Most of the teams in our league don't have "C" teams so they are having to play games against the "B" teams. They haven't won yet, but they are so fun to watch. It's all about fun for them and they have the best coaches who give them all a chance to be starters and give them all equal playing time.

(Note, isn't John the tiniest thing!? Every time they pass him the ball I feel like it's going to knock him over!)

So...

the first Sunday of this month I missed church. I love morning church and was so excited that we had finally switched back to it from our previous 12:30 time slot. The night before I had gone to bed with a bad headache and when I woke up it wasn't any better. So, Jeremy went without me and when he got home he told me that the Executive Secretary was on the lookout for me to talk to the Bishop. This means only one thing...New Calling! This can be scary enough and the fact that it was to meet with the Bishop was even scarier. If it's a certain counselor, I know it's probably a primary calling, if it's the other, I know it will deal with the youth, etc...but the Bishop leaves too many unknowns! I almost wondered if Jeremy was messing with me, but my sisters confirmed that they were in fact on the lookout for me. I had to wait a whole week to find out what it was, Jeremy had his suspicions as to what the calling would be, I had my fears (think RS teacher!) and plenty of people wanted to give their predictions too. Sure enough, as soon as I left RS Sunday, here came Brother Sharp to summon me to the Bishop's office. Luckily, he got right down to business. I was called to be the new...

(I know, I know, language. But I honestly could not pass this pic up. ;)

So, yes, I'm the new ward librarian. I think it will be perfect since I already spend every Sunday School hour in there visiting anyways. Yes, we're heathens who usually ditch Sunday School and either visit in the hall or the library. At least this way I won't feel as guilty. :)

Hoo are you?

So, way back when, I talked my SIL over at Night Owl Crafting into doing this weekly link party and I've been a huge loser and have been too busy with my giveaway blog to support it! So, basically, it's 5 questions a week for everyone to get to know people better! Here are this week's questions!

Here are this week's questions with my answers!

1. Did you make any New Year's Resolutions?
I don't do any hard core resolutions per se, but I do need to get my whole family to stick to a budget better!

2. What are some goals you have for 2011?
Ha, spend less money!

3. What is something that you got for Christmas?
I got lots of good things, trip to disneyland, cash, gift cards, a temple clock from my bestie :)

4. Did you see any good movies over the holiday season?
No

5. Do you do your own taxes or have someone do them for you
I used to have my CPA of a sister do them for me, but she's so busy this time of year... So I gave turbotax a try last year and did just fine!

You can check here for all the rules!

Finally...

a post! I've been so neglectful of this blog lately because I spent so much time posting things that had to be done on the giveaway blog. I'm officially done with that now so I'm going to try and be so much better about posting regularly on this one! In addition to being a slacker when it comes to posting, I've hardly been reading blogs either since I was always signed in to my other blog! No more! I'm here to stay again so hopefully all you cute girls that have always been faithful readers of mine will come back. :)

We have been so busy in the last few months! We have family affair after family affair and traveled several thousand miles in the last little while. Tyson finished up football at the end of October.

(Tys is easy to find, middle row, kneeling, first one on the left)

The first weekend in November we went to Battle Mtn for our nephew Brock's baptism.

It was a good trip.

For Thanksgiving this year, my family went to Disneyland. It was a really fun trip! I'd never been during the holidays before (we usually try to go when it's not prime season so there aren't as many crowds) but it was so fun to see all the decorations! The weather was really nice too even though it was freezing here at home!

Ryan even gave California Screamin another try and loved it!

The first weekend in December we went to Joseph, UT to see our niece Jercie baptized.

She looked so cute in her dress!

A few weeks later, we were able to go to the St. George Temple to be with Jeremy's brother Mike and his family as they were sealed. It was a great day!

(Aren't those dresses adorable!? They were made from Tonia's wedding dress.)

The weekend before Christmas, Jeremy took Tyson and his friend Tabor snowboarding. Neither Tyson or his friend had ever been before, Jeremy said it was quite entertaining...In Tys's words..."I'd be going along like a champ, then all of a sudden eat crap!" I told him that as he goes more, he'll get better. They had a good time though.

We had a really good Christmas. We did our normal Christmas Eve dinner at my mom's. Jeremy had Jess's kids so worked up (as usual, he always gets the kids worked up and then laughs as we leave them with their parents ;) and I think if we hadn't finally decided to head home on Christmas Eve, my Grandma might have just "invited" us to go home anyways! Ryan was seriously up half the night on Christmas Eve as usual and so we woke up super early to open gifts. The boys each got an Ipod Touch for Christmas and they were so excited! They got alot of other good stuff too, most importantly Just Dance 2 for the Wii which has already given us many hours of entertainment. We had a super delicious dinner at Jeremy's parents house that afternoon also.

So, that's it for my recap. Hope everyone had a great holiday!
