Well, that's the garden...the pollen counts are on the rise, so us kitties can't actually get out right now. Smokey is on high allergy alert at the moment and we are all sacrificing to keep him clear.

Thursday in the Garden
It's been a while since we have done a gardening post...there just isn't much to report on in the winter...lots of brown everywhere!
If you want to see more wonderful gardens check out the Society of Feline Gardeners and Master Gardener Jonsie!
Our friend Buddy has come back out to help eat the seeds on the ground...the cats love to watch him!
The tulips are blooming now...you can also see that the blooms on the daffodils have gone. Now we just have those green stalks for a few more weeks. Eventually we will get tired of looking at them and tie them back into neat bundles. We've heard you aren't supposed to cut them off because it will impact the size of the blooms the next year. We aren't sure if this is just an old wives tale or not...anyone else familiar with this practice?
Our catnip is growing like mad again! These are all babies from the larger plant we pulled up last year. After a while catnip gets too woody and stalky and needs to be removed so it can regrow fresh and new.
This is our brocolli plant now...it looks a bit crazy! We are going to pull it up soon...
The newest addition to the gardening tools...a composter. Auntie is working hard to make some good soil for us and the plants will appreciate it this summer! Do any of you compost? Any tips or tricks for newbys?

Tail Trouble Tuesday
Cousin Pirate could use some purrs from the community for his rear area. He ruptured an anal gland on Sunday, and now has a drain in place. The drain should be removed on Thursday. He is on pain meds in the mean time to deal with the discomfort. He is taking it well, and did not have to start wearing the cone of shame until about 1:30 last night.
Photo taken a few hours after he came home yesterday. I think if you biggify you can see the drain better and the stitches.

Thirsty Thursday
Smokey loves to drink water from a glass. I keep a glass on this side table for him, and the others. He will sit there and just look at me in the kitchen, if it needs to be filled again.
Do you see his tongue? It's quite long to reach into the glass for the water...I should refill his glass. Luckily, he still thinks his glass is half full :)

Paws for Japan
Today we are joining BlogPaw Be The Change for Pets and others for "Paws for Japan Day". Sparkle is holding a commentathon today to raise funds for the relief efforts in this country. The devastation is great, but so is the out-pouring of love and support. We reflect now with a few pictures mom took when she visited Japan in 2008.

At the website for BlogPaws There is a chip-in where you can make secure donations to support the efforts. Please go there and help out today and Be the Change you want to see in the world!

Mancat Monday
Mancats like to sit on furniture...
Tanner enjoys sitting on these chests in the study. It is a great spot because he can look out the window from there...
Devon rarely sits on the dining room table, but it is a great spot. There are windows in this room too, so he can look outside at a different view. We do not leave the placemats down because they would be covered in hair! They come down right before dinner :)
There you have it...mancats on the furniture!

Awards on Thursday
We have been honored by two blogging families with this Awesome Award! Brian gave this to us a few weeks ago, and then the Cats of Wildcat Woods.
The rules of this award are to link up to the blog(s) that sent it to you. Then leave 7 comments about yourself. Finally pass the award on to 15 other bloggers.
So for 7 facts about us...
1) Tanner likes to stick his whole face in the fountain stream while he drinks.
2) Devon cries at the bottom of the steps each night while I call for him to come upstairs to bed.
3) Smokey's favorite toy is a bouncing ball with streamers coming out of it.
4) Tanner likes to poop on the floor.
5) Devon loves to help cook...he enjoys making sandwiches, stirring pudding, and grating cheese.
6) Smokey will tap my face at night for me to raise the covers for him to crawl under and snuggle.
7) The boys play musical lap at night and take turns laying with me.
Now to pass this on to 15 bloggers...

Thursday in the Garden
Well, it's been a while since we were able to do a garden post, but several things are happening now that winter is closing down...let's take a look.
Our brocolli is growing in the front yard. We don't plan on eating it, but it adds interest to the landscape. The pizza delivery lady even commented it on it recently!
We also have cabbages planted in the front and back. Again, they are mostly ornamental...
Our daffodils are growing and blooming. They popped up quickly last week during our nice warm weather. A sure sign that spring is near...
The trees are getting ready to bud too...Probably another few weeks and we'll have leaves.
The cat planter on the front porch is doing better now too. We planted these pansies in the fall. They did not do much during the winter because it was cold, but now they are enjoying a burst of growth with the warmer weather. They should last for another few months. It will eventually get too hot for them.
Check out other gorgeous gardens by going to Jonesie's page.

Toes and Tummy Tuesday
Smokey shows off his cute toes, his yoga skills and his bald belly...in one post!
Giving a good wash to those cute chicken legs...love those spread toes...
Leg down...washing the belly...Smokey washed his belly bald in September 2009, and the hair has not grown back yet.
Have any of you with stress bald patches ever grown the hair back? If so, how long did it take?
Still washing...love the pointed toes and the tail position...you go Goose! Brother Tanner could take some washing lessons from Smokey!
BTW - This is Smokey's favorite place to sleep...he takes over my pillow every night :)
