Meezer Rule Wednesday

We entered a contest on Facebook, and would really appreciate your votes. We entered the Cutest Senior Cat on Facebook contest. nThis is one of Mom's favorite pictures of Tiki and I before he went to the bridge. She loves it because we are holding paws. It looks like you can vote once per day and we would love it if you would vote for us.
My rule for today: If you enter a contest, don't be ashamed to beg for votes.

Meezer Colors Day

Today is Meezer colors day. We are supposed to show a picture of our Meezerness next to a color that brings out our colors really well. During the M-Word, mom found some pictures of us that her brother, our Uncle M, took. Uncle M was working as a professional photographer at the time, so he got some really good pictures of us.

This first one is me playing with some feathers. I am really showing off my tummy and toes well. Mom says I reminder her of a little lion cub - in fact she still calls me her little lion from time to time. You can see I had big feet even when I was a kit.

This next one is Tiki posing. He was so regal even back then. You could tell he was the one in charge - always so calm and self assured.

Here are the two of us together. Again, he is posing and being regal while still showing his playful side, while I am just having fun. As you can see, the blue background really sets off both of our furs really well. Mom wishes she could get a really good picture of my eyes when they are turquoise, but I tend to blink or close my eyes when the flashy box comes out.

Finally, Mom thought she would show you her battle wounds. Look away now if any of you are a bit squimish.

Her finger/knuckle is much improved after being on the anitbiotics for two days now. The only place that is puffy and red is right around the wound. She says it still gets a bit hurty if she uses it a lot, or starts touching it. We keep telling her if she wouldn't touch it, it wouldn't hurt, but she never listens.

Finally, here are the scratches Cody inflicted. We think he did a pretty good job of getting Mom and letting her know he was not a happy camper. Papa said it looked like Mom had tried to commit suicide and failed miserably - mol.

Happy Valentine's Day

Three of Mom's favorite pictures that represent LOVE:

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
Update: Mom here--It is 2:36 am and I just got the most wonderful Valentine's day gift from Cody - he was sleeping next to Tavi, and I reached out to pet him (Tavi) and got Cody instead. I knew something was wrong with the fur and moved my hand a bit and got Tavi, and then reached up and realized I was petting Cody. He let me really pet him for about 15 seconds - not a long time, I know, but the longest I have ever been able to touch him before he got up and moved away. He has the softest fur. In the past month or so, I have been able to reach out and sometimes touch him as he moves past, but this time, I was actually able to sink my fingers into his fur and really pet him. It has taken 10 years, but I hope he is finally realizing that pets are a good thing.

Meezer Memory Monday

We are reposting on of Mom's favorite pictures of Tiki and me. We are a little bit sad this weekend because Tiki has been gone from us for a month.

In other news, Mom's friend has not had to evacuate and it looks hopeful that she won't. The fire is spreading north, and she lives south of it/them. She is about 3 miles from what they are now calling the Triange Fire - but which started out as the Yorba Linda/Corona Fire. Distance wise, Mom says it is pretty close - about 10 miles or so (as the crow flies) but by car, it is about 20-25 miles. We are hopeful that the fire will continue to spread to the less populated areas and that the fire fighters will be able to get some containment of it established soon.

As for all of us eating out of the same dish, we seem to be the exception. Mom started that when she brought Tiki and me home. We were so little and so close that she gave us one bowl of food and we would stick both of our heads in and eat. As Dharma, Cody and now Miss Jade have joined the family, they also got to share. Mom did feed Miss Jade out of her own bowl for a few months, but she just kept sticking her nose in our food, so Mom gave up and let her eat with us too.

Goodbye My Love

The last pictures I took of my baby.

I want to thank everyone for their purrs and thoughts over the last two days. Tiki got much worse last night and could no long walk more than a step or two. I could tell in his eyes that he was tired. He was tired of fighting and tired of being sick, and just plain tired. I felt that the best, most loving thing I could do for him was to let him rest. So, I took him to the vet this morning, and helped him over the bridge.

He is now resting with my other pets in the garden at my Dad's house. I am heartbroken, of course. But I also know that all of you have helped so much. Thank you for all of the purrs and prayers and thoughts you have sent our way. This community is one of the most wonderful places in the world!

Meezer Wednesday

We aren't going to do a rule today - just an update. Mom is very worried about Tiki. He isn't eating very well. She is having to spoon feed him and he isn't even eating much of the baby food he loves so much. He looks like he has lost more weight, and just wants to sleep a lot. Please purr for him.

Just napping together and enjoying the heat of the heating pad. We just love to sleep on it, and often take turns.

Feast on Friday

Here are some pictures of us enjoying the boiled chicken our room mate made for us. She comes and gives us some a couple of times a week. She started making chicken for us when she heard about my CRF. I ate more today than I have in a while, so I also made Mom happy.

Thursday Thankfulness

We decided to say what we are thankful for today.
Tavi - I am thankful that Mom doesn't get too annoyed when I bang on the door to go out of our room. Sometimes she even lets me out.
Tiki - I am thankful for my heating pad, and my Garfield bed.
Cody - I am thankful for Temptations and Greenies.
Miss Jade - I am thankful that the big woofiecat hasn't eaten me yet. She even likes to take naps next to me. I guess I don't think she will eat me anymore.
Camie - I am thankful I don't have to run anymore unless I want to, and I am thankful for Mom's bed to sleep on when she goes to work.

Meezer Rule Wednesday

Mom plugged in one of our favorite things in the whole wide world. She plugged in the heating pad. She sets it on low and puts a towel over it for us to lay on. It is sooooo cozy. So, our rule for today is...When your Mom does something nice just for you, make sure you give her snuggles to thank her.

Awards

We received this award again from The Gibb's Creek Cats and from Topcat Rules. If you haven't been to the Gibb's Creek Cats, they are a group of seven cats with a couple of fosters thrown in for good luck (we think we have the numbers right).
And Topcat Rules had a wonderfully fun game this summer where we got to try to name different objects, plants, flowers, cat breeds, etc. that began with each letter of the alphabet. Our favorite was naming Australian towns. We got to explore Australia if only on a map. Thank you so much both of you for the award. We are going to do what so many of our friends do and give it to anyone who hasn't received it yet. We love you all.

Camie got this award from I is Jake over at Shadow's and Molly's blog. Thank you so much Jake. I (Camie) really appreciate it, even though I don't get to blog much. You are very cute and sweet for passing this one on to me. I am going to pass it on to:

Shadow

Samwise and Beaux

Dana and Loki

and Diamond

Meezer Monday

The two of us snuggling before Tiki gets his fluids. That is a blanket over Tiki. It blends in really well with his furs. She has a new nickname for him. She has starting calling him Squishy, because the lump where the fluids sit until they are absorbed is squishy. So, she calls him Squishy or Squishy Skinny Mini.

Sunday Snuggle

This is how Mom holds me for my vitamins and to check my blood sugar. I don't mind as long as I get let go as soon as it is over. I usually sit still long enough for whatever needs to be done, and then struggle as soon as it is over. It is kind of fun to be snuggled tho.

Answers and Awards on Thursday

Some kitties have asked how I, Tiki, am doing now that I have been on fluids for a week. Mom says she notices that I am a little more active. She sees me out of my bed more, and walking around the rest of the house. I used to typically spend most of the time in my Garfield bed, but now will walk around for a bit. Mom has also switched the food that we are eating. She isn't sure yet what kind of food she is going to feed us in the long run. She is having us try both Evo and Wellness. She is leaning more toward the Evo because both Jade and I had upset tummies the one night we ate it, and we didn't like it as much as we like the Evo. She is going to try us on it one more time and see how we do. We are only allowed to eat canned, but that is what we ate anyway. If anycat is eating one of these foods, would you please leave us a comment about what you think about it.

She also bought us a fountain exactly like Max's and Buddah's. I am the only one she has caught drinking out of it so far, but she keeps putting Jade and Tavi up there by it. Cody will have to find it on his own as skittish as he is.

Now, on to our awards:

We received this award from The Cat Realm:

Thank you so much Karl, Ms. Oz, and Tintin. We have received this before, so we aren't going to pass it on.

We also got this award from Jimmy Joe.

Thank you so much! We love it.

Here are the award stipulations:
1) Put the logo on your blog.
2) Add a link to the person who awarded you.
3) Nominate at least 7 other blogs.
4) Add links to those blogs on yours.
5) Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs.

We would like to pass it on to:

Chance Bond and Shadow, Cheysuli, Gemini and Georgia, Tybalt, Holly, Ivy, Dana and Loki, and Skeeter, LC and Ayla

If you have received this already, consider yourselves doubley brillante!

Meezer Rule Wednesday

When you are getting your fluids, be patient, but only up to a point. Let Mom know that you don't like sitting where she wants you to for the 5 minutes necessary.

Tabby Tuesday and a Bonus

Here I am just getting ready to fall asleep for the night.
It is very comfortable on the Mom Lady Person's bed.
Here is a bonus picture the Mom Lady Person got of all 4 of us on the bed at one time. She has never been able to do that. And what was even more amazing was that she was in bed with all of us.

Togetherness

This is how we were sleeping last night before Mom fell asleep herself (WITHOUT) posting for us. As you can see, the three of us are touching. It didn't last long, but Mom was happy.
~
In other news, Mom is having a hard time typing because she was "Thumb wrestling" with her fourteen year old nephew and sprained her wrist. We knew there was a reason humans shouldn't be trusted with opposible thumbs. They go and hurt themselves doing things with them all the time that they shouldn't. Mom says to tell you she won tho, and is so far undefeated but probably won't be for long if she has to injure herself to ensure a win.

Our Vet Visit-UPDATED

Well, as many of you know, we had our new V-E-T visit yesterday. We weren't used to being in the car that long. The V-E-T was 30 min. away. Tavi got car-sick about 5 minutes before we got to the V-E-T. This is the waiting area. They have cat artwork all over the place. And Mom said that it was a very comfortable space. "Very Homey"
Here we are in our stroller waiting to go in to see the V-E-T. Mom brought our stroller because she said it would be easier to get us around, and with Tavi getting car-sick, it helped a lot.
Tavi looking out of the door in the exam room.
Tiki looking out the door in the exam room. We each took turns exploring.
Tavi saying "GET ME OUT OF HERE!"

Some of the artwork in the exam room.
Bigify to read what these two say.

Tavi waiting to go home. We slept all the way home with minimal fuss. As for what the V-E-T said, we'll start with the good news. Tavi looked good. The V-E-T said that if she didn't know that he was 15, she would have guessed 10 or 11. She said that he was a good weight and not to change anything with him. Mom was concerned that he was getting a little pudgy, but she said she would rather see just a bit of pudge on a 15 year old cat, than a skinny one, so he is good. He weighs 12 lbs 9 oz.

Now for me, Tiki...I have lost about another pound since November and weigh 7 lbs 5 oz. The V-E-T was concerned about the weight loss and gave us some names of different types of food to try. She wants me on an all protein diet with NO Temptations or Greenies treats. If I want treats, I can have freeze dried chicken, turkey, venison, beef or liver. We got samples from the V-E-T. I can also have meat people food as long as it isn't fried. It can be baked, broiled, boiled, grilled, etc, so we are happy about that because it means we can all have that. Our room mate has already said she is going to stock up on chicken for us and keep some boiled for us all the time. She is so nice.

The V-E-T was also worried about my kidneys, so I had to have blood and urine stolen. I yowled the whole time. The V-E-T did a quick kidney test and I now have to have Sub-Q fluids. I got my first treatment at the V-E-T so Mom could learn how to give them to me. In the picture below, you can kind of see the bubble of fluid under my armpit. It made me wobbly to walk because I was off balance. Until we get my lab results back tomorrow, I have to have them every other day. It didn't bother me to get them today. It only took about 5 minutes, so it wasn't bad at all. The really bad news is that I have to go back in a month, and so does Tavi. Tavi has to have his blood stolen then. Mom couldn't do both senior panels at the same time.

Mom said I was up and about more than she has seen me for a while, so hopefully these sub-q's will do me so good energy wise.

UPDATE-2:20 pm PST. Mom here. I just got off the phone with the vet with Tiki's blood results and it isn't good. She said the kidney disease was much more advanced than she thought and he has to have fluids every day. She classified his kidney disease as level 4 out of 4, and the fluids are to preserve what function he has left. She is putting him on some medication also to help bind the phosphorus he eats (in meat) so that his kidneys won't have to work to take care of that. And his liver function levels were out of whack too. She wants to do an ultrasound on his abdomen and maybe take a biopsy if she sees anything. She said it could be an infection because of the diabetes or the kidney disease, but it could also be something worse like lymphoma. We are going to do the fluids for the next month with the medication and a Vitamin B suppliment and when he goes in for his recheck in 4 weeks, hopefully I will have enough saved for the rest of the tests he needs. I am trying very hard to be strong for my baby boy, but it is hard. The vet did say that she couldn't give a prognosis as far as his kidneys were concerned but that it sounded hopeful that his energy level was up last night. Purrs would be appreciated.
