They're telling us...

to prepare for another blast of shit weather.
Monday and Tuesday will be warm enough to
melt some of what we have. Then Wednesday
and Thursday we get dumped on again with a
load of snow, rain and ice all at the same time.
Could last into Friday. The streets will suck.

So, Monday and Tuesday will be time to stock
up on food and lots of bags of salt and to shovel
as much of the remaining snow from driveways
and sidewalks that hasn't yet melted from two
weeks ago.

I made a giant cauldron of chili today. Probably
enough to last through Wednesday or Thursday.
We'll be fine with everything else we have on hand.
It's just getting really, really tiresome.

I know, my whining is just as tiresome. Too bad.

Weather or not...

Days and nights of drenching rain are being
traded for clear skies and extreme heat
through this weekend. I've never liked summer.

Haiku Monday - Rain...

eye rain. eyes rain tears
from heavy heart cloud cover.
watching for sunshine.

***

have you ever watched
the sun shine while it's raining?
Sunshower blessing.

***

the tick-tick-tick on
thirsty leaves and dusty grass.
soothing lullaby.

***

it's raining haiku
like it does every Monday.
come get your pen wet.

***

Anonymous Boxer is hosting this week's
Haiku Monday.
The topic is RAIN and she's having a
published poet do the judging.

You're not gonna let a little rain keep you away, are you?

Rain...

rain, steady plain rain
no extra fancy sky light or cloud noise
or whirling wind
just rain
steady.plain.rain.
seeps in every crevice known
and too many not. surprise. some not.
drip...
drip...
drip...
drip...
lasts longer than the rain.
this will not be the day that
I quit smoking.

Slow rain...

Three days like this. slow rain.
blanket gray sky. still air.
dull light.
and slow rain.

you must look for it on purpose.
no announcing rumble or
flashing light blades. only slow rain.

slow rain does not fall in drops, it seems.
but a veil of wet that lays itself
silently, softly across the outside world then gathers
tiny pellets that roll, slide
and dangle off all edges

slipping to the ground below.
slow drip...slow drip...slow drip.

all day. through the night.
slow rain.
