Sunday morning walk at Punggol Heritage Trail

The latest walking trail must be Punggol Heritage Trail. Singaporeans have already taken a liking to brisk walking all over Singapore, mostly started cause of covid when we could not travel overseas and had to do a little adventure around Singapore.

I too started walking with my siblings hahaha.
Very convenient to reach Punggol Heritage Trail, we just take the MRT train to Punggol Coast MRT Station and started walking.
There is a map to direct our path, it is very easy as it is just one straight pathway however the heritage trail is not 100% completed.
This used to be a road where cars and buses travel along the road. Now it is closed to traffic.
Read how this place used to  be a zoo, I did not even know it . I was still a child in 1963. The only zoo I know is in Mandai haha.

The old bus stop is still here and the bus will never come , this bus stop now acts as a shelter for people to hide from the rain.
It was a pleasant and easy walk and soon we spotted Punggol Sports Centre still under construction. The centre houses a full sized indoor swimming complex, multi purpose indoor sports halls, fitness gyms and wellness studios, outdoor courts and recreational areas and community activity rooms and event spaces. It is due to open in 2026. More from source

The trail continued all the way to punggol waterway

Barringtonia racemosa, also known as Common Putat, has pendulous inflorescence, up to 1m long. The flowers are night-blooming and have filamentous stamens that are white, pink or red. The bark and fruits are crushed and used as fish poisons as they contain toxic saponins. source

Pulau Ubin Singapore 2025 - Part 2 - Chek Jawa Boardwalks

After hiking up Puaka Hill and resting at Ah Ma Drinks stall, we decided to head to our next destination at Chek Jawa. It is on the far eastern end of Pulau Ubin, we had a weak estimation of the destination, we thought we could walk from Ah Ma drinks stall to Chek Jawa in 45 mins but it actually took us almost one and half hour of walking. Wish we could hitch a van ride but the van were fully booked.

We really regret having this idea of walking from Puaka Hill to Chek Jawa hahaha but at the end of the day, we were saved by a kind van driver.

At first the walk was fine, we could see many pretty houses and flowers in the area.
There are actually people staying in the houses.

Wish we could ride in the van to take us to Chek Jawa hahaha but too bad they were full.

Along the way we saw many atttap seeds, used mainly as toppings to drinks in South East Asia.
Finally after almost one and half hour, we arrived at Chek Jawa. We were really tired and beginning to worry about the walk back to the Jetty.
Saw many monkeys in the forested area.

The boardwalk at Chek Jawa along the coast facing Changi Airport.

We could see many planes from here.
We could even zoom on the control tower in Changi Airport.

Very nice weather and cooling to walk on this cloudy and windy day. Glad the sun was hiding in the clouds.

There's two boardwalk at Chek Jawa, one facing Changi Airport along the coast and the other along the mangrove , which we did not attempt to walk.

After exiting Chek Jawa boardwalk, we saw some van drivers at the entrance of Chek Jawa , we quickly asked if we could board the van but they were fully booked by others. But one kind driver help us called his sister to fetch us. So we paid $3 per person for the van ride from Chek Jawa to the Jetty. Suddenly there are others also wanted to take the van too. Soon the van is full. We were so lucky to be able to ride the van  and save all our leg power hahaha.

Phone number of Van driver incase anyone need to book the van to ferry around the island.
It was lunch time and we were so tired and hungry, we rest and took our lunch at one of the restaurant near the ferry terminal.

Kampong Chicken, it tasted so good with the ginger, chinese wine and sesame oil.
Sambal Kangkong
Fried omelette
Steamed fish

Will be awhile before we will return to visit Pulau Ubin again.
