Painting session, October 15th 2011, Ramat Hasharon

Three painters, pizza, beers, and a bunch of miniatures. Cant ask for more :)

I hope we can turn these sessions into something more than occasional meetings and hopefully we will have a lot more people working with us. Painting is a joy!

Me busy with my faithful #4 brush (basecoating various space wolves heroes) :)

Maestro at work

Yesterday our local wargaming/cardgaming convention took place, and of course I was there to help out, mingle, and in general have a great time. A good friend of mine who is an incredible painter/modeller was also there with his WHFB display, and while we sat there he made a very nice base for his Nurgle Daemon Prince.

I will let the pictures speak for themselves :)

I'm looking forward to see his paintjob on the model :)

Miniatures vs. Nature

Yesterday I visited my cousin who has a very impressive collection of succulent plants, and I finally saw the fate of the two models i gave him about a month ago.

I have to say I'm impressed :)

A slight change of pace - Warhammer Fantasy dragon.

About a week ago one our local WHF players sold me a model he bought and decided he didn't have time to build - Dark Elf Dreadlord on Black Dragon. I got it for list price (translated to our local currency of course) and it was still sealed in the original shrink wrap.

Today I decided to open the box, and I was amazed by the quality of the model. There were almost no mold lines on the parts, all parts fit perfectly, and the cast is so precise that there will barely be any need for putty to fill up the gaps; in fact, most of the gaps were swallowed by the plastic glue action.

The only thing i don't like about the model for now is that a few pieces need to definitely stay off until other parts are painted, since there is some overlap.

Here are some WiP shots :)

Are we there yet?

The little dread is almost done. Base is all snowed up, paint is almost 100% finished. It just need to completely dry so I can see if there is anything else left to do :)

Time, time, time ...

That is exactly what i don't have in abundance these days, and the progress on the Space Wolves dread is slightly slower than i would like it to be.

At least i managed to get it all primed and almost ready for paint (some last moment mold lines popped up that need to be cleaned up)

Just for the record the primer used is generic brand black gesso. It leaves a slightly grainy surface that actually works for what i have in mind for this dread (this reminds me to hop to my local art store and get some better gesso :))

And of course, here are the pics :)

Work in progress (Lets call it "just a base")

Today i started working on bases for some of the models from Assault on Black Reach starter box that my sister got me for birthday. Most of the marines (except the commander) and the Dreadnought started receiving bases. Here are some snapshots of the dread.
