Make and receive phone calls on Mac, iPad and Apple Vision Pro
If you have an iPhone, you can use your Mac, iPad or Apple Vision Pro to make and receive iPhone mobile calls.
Set up your devices to make and receive calls
Start by setting up your iPhone, which will relay calls to and from your other devices. Then set up your Mac, iPad or Apple Vision Pro.
Set up your iPhone
Requires iOS 8.1 or later and an activated network provider plan
Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on and your iPhone is connected to the same network as your other devices that will make and receive calls.
Go to Settings > Apps > FaceTime and make sure FaceTime is turned on. Also make sure your phone number is selected under “You can be reached by FaceTime at” and Caller ID.
Go to Settings > Apps > Phone, then turn on Allow Calls on Other Devices.
From the list of devices shown, turn on any you want to allow calls on. If you can’t see a device, complete the below setup steps for that device, then check again.
Then set up your Mac, iPad or Apple Vision Pro
Mac
Requires OS X Yosemite 10.10 or later
Make sure your Mac is signed in with the same Apple Account used by your iPhone.
Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on and your Mac is connected to the same network as your iPhone, via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Open the FaceTime app, then choose FaceTime > Settings (or Preferences) from the menu bar.
Make sure FaceTime is using the same Apple Account used by your iPhone. If not, click Sign Out, then sign in with the correct Apple Account.
Make sure your phone number is selected under “You can be reached for FaceTime at” and “Start new calls from”.
Select Calls from iPhone.
iPad
Requires iPadOS 8 or later
Make sure your iPad is signed in with the same Apple Account used by your iPhone.
Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on and your iPad is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone.
Go to Settings > Apps > FaceTime.
Make sure FaceTime is turned on and using the same Apple Account used by your iPhone. If not, tap your Apple Account where it appears under the Caller ID section, tap Sign Out, then sign in with the correct Apple Account.
Make sure your phone number is selected under “You can be reached by FaceTime at” and Caller ID.
Tap Calls from iPhone, then turn on Calls from iPhone.
Apple Vision Pro
Make sure your Apple Vision Pro is signed in with the same Apple Account used by your iPhone.
Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on and your Apple Vision Pro is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone.
Go to Settings > FaceTime.
Make sure FaceTime is turned on and using the same Apple Account used by your iPhone. If not, tap your Apple Account where it appears under the Caller ID section, tap Sign Out, then sign in with the correct Apple Account.
Make sure your phone number is selected under “You can be reached by FaceTime at” and Caller ID.
Turn on Calls from iPhone.
Make calls on your devices
Start by making sure your iPhone is turned on and nearby. If you want your other devices to make and receive calls even when your iPhone isn’t nearby, set up Wi-Fi calling.
Mac
Make a call using the Phone app, available in macOS Tahoe 26 or later.
Or make a call by clicking or Control-clicking a phone number where it appears in many apps, such as Contacts, Calendar, Messages and Safari.
iPad
Make a call using the Phone app, available in iPadOS 26 or later.
Or make a call by tapping a phone number where it appears in many apps, such as Contacts, Calendar, Messages and Safari.
Apple Vision Pro
Make a call using FaceTime, which is available from People view.
Or make a call by tapping a phone number where it appears in many apps, such as Contacts, Calendar, Messages and Safari.
Answer calls on your devices
To accept or decline a call, use the notification that appears on your device when someone calls. If you don’t get a notification for incoming calls, make sure your devices are set up as described above.

When you use your other devices to make and receive calls from iPhone, the following features work as they are configured on your iPhone: Hold Assist Detection, Screen Unknown Callers, Call Filtering and Live Voicemail. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Apps > Phone to change whether or how your iPhone and other devices use these features.
To make or receive calls on a Mac mini, Mac Studio and Mac Pro, you need an external microphone or headset.
