Hello there!

I had a ton of fun playing through this game, so I thought I'd help out my fellow Steambots having trouble navigating the World Map, assisting them tough missions, and helping folks find the Epic Swag (and hats) they're looking for!

For ease of use, the Table of Contents will specify each Zone in the World, and each mission located in those Zones will be under that header. If you know the name of the mission you'd like to look up, a page search will take you there pretty quickly too.

Please note: this guide was mainly written with the Elite difficulty in mind, so if there are any differences in the numbers involved that's the main reason why!

Welcome to the tutorial zone! You will skip this part of the game entirely if you skip the tutorial at the beginning, but you'll miss out on some extra loot! (for instance: the Pirate Hideout will already be looted but you won't have the extra Fragments and Gallons)

Tips & Tricks: The first mission if you are playing the Tutorial. Take it easy and learn how to play at your own pace! You can start shooting hats off early here if you wish, but you'll have plenty of opportunities later. You can also shoot off the bosses' hat extremely early, but you'll also have a few opportunities for that one later too.

Tips & Tricks: If you don't mind starting a new game, you can and skip the tutorial to "re-roll" the 2 random crewmates that show up at the Bar until you get what you want. Also note you can buy multiple Armored Plating I to stack Sub health beyond just the side Machine Guns.

Tips & Tricks: This level can get extremely tricky, especially if you are playing on Elite! Highly recommend tackling it last or close to last in this zone, so you can level up your crew a bit and get some nicer weapons and utilities first.

You can find the Epic Swag in a room off to the right in a door marked with a green indicator (Note: green means no enemies behind this door, yellow means enemies behind door, and red is impassible)

Tips & Tricks: The Epic Swag can be found after the second drop in a green door on the left. There are explosive barrels above many of the enemies to help balance out being outnumbered.

Tips & Tricks: First encounter with a new faction - pay close attention to the tips the game gives you for the new enemy types!

Like the tutorial says, you can shoot through the smaller Rattler bots:

This will become crucial later on when these little bots become overwhelming, especially if you're playing on Elite difficulty!

Tips & Tricks: A race against time! Open green doors with impunity, but highly recommend stacking up your crew against yellow doors first before breaching. Once you kill the commander, an alarm will sound and enemies will start flooding in - so clear out as much loot as possible before then.

This is also likely your first encounter with enemy snipers, so use that cover! Note that you can shoot off their hats even though it doesn't look like it; you just need to hit the little antenna sticking out:

Tips & Tricks: Once you grab the Epic Swag, doors will lock behind you and an alternate route will open up. There is a button you can shoot in the last room that will open up a door to more Epic Swag - a key item needed for later in the story. (no need to grab it now if it's too dangerous)

Objectives: Rescue the Mechanic (Note: this is a story mission so a full Crew is REQUIRED, you cannot use less like in other missions)

Tips & Tricks: Likely your first encounter with wall turrets and loudspeakers (buffs enemies). A defense mission with a twist (must defend Edna who can be shot), so be prepared to hold your ground! You will need to protect her for 1 turn, then 3 turns, then 10 turns.

During the 10 turn defend timer, you can loot the Epic Swag in a previously locked door if you can spare a steambot to check it out. Be warned that if you open the Epic Swag door a loudspeaker turret will trigger in that room immediately, so be sure you can handle it!

Note that this is a great place to farm Rare hats, if you are so inclined (probably later though, once you're more powerful)

Welcome to the next zone! The game will be teaching you many advanced mechanics here, if you haven't already started experimenting. Note: after you finish this zone you will be forced to leave, and you won't be able to return for a LONG time.

I highly recommend that you pick up the Amethyst Gear to add a permanent +1 move to your entire crew (behind the 28/28 reputation door in The Flooded Burrow) as both movement and your action economy is absolutely king on higher difficulties.

Also make note that there is a MISSABLE UNIQUE WEAPON on this part of the map! So before you leave/are nearing the end of this zone, be sure to double check this guide so you don't miss out!

Tips & Tricks: This mission is required to progress the story! Note that you are NOT allowed to use a crewmate's original class (on your first try?) as the game is trying to teach you to swap classes. (e.g. Daisy cannot be a Sniper, and Wesley cannot be a Reaper).

The Epic Swag can be found behind the green door behind Double Tap Jack. Watch out for the laser turrets that activate after the alarm progresses. If you're on the move, you can easily avoid them without having to scrap them.

Tips & Tricks: A one on one fight between a bot of your choosing against BIG STEVE! Make ample use of the cover since he uses a shotgun and it tends to be rather inaccurate. You can grab all the loot easily after he's been scrapped, so focus on the fight first.

Tips & Tricks: Definitely save this one either for the end of the zone, or be extra prepared for a tough fight. Be careful opening too many doors, as the Totem Bearers will constantly be spawning new totems as you kill the small enemies that get can get overwhelming. Classes that can attack multiple enemies in one turn is HIGHLY recommended. The Epic Swag can be found behind a green door at the very top of the stage.

Tips & Tricks: You'll need to scour the map to find the bots with the Commander Hat on. After you scrap them they'll drop a Medal for the objective.

The Epic Swag can be found at the very top of the map. There will be more medals that needed to succeed, so feel free to bail as soon as you have enough if you're getting overwhelmed!

Tips & Tricks: The Epic Swag can be found in a hidden small green door room after a small drop off after activating a console. After activating the 3rd console, the roof will drop out into the main objective.

The alarm may be quite crazy at that point, so activate it ASAP and have your team evacuate where they came in (if you have Beacon, he can use his special ability Scram to activate the console then teleport and evacuate with the rest of the team immediately)

Tips & Tricks: Boss fight! If you played the tutorial, the strategy there should be similar here. Wipe out the adds (extra baddies), then shoot the backpack equipment to make the fight more seamless.

Make use of all the cover available, and do your best to not get overwhelmed (Engineer cover is very helpful here). If the fight is still too tough, feel free to spend a few extra days to level up your crew and snag some better loot.

During the escape sequence, jump into the whirlpool that led to the Empty Lighthouse to snag this HIDDEN MISSABLE WEAPON! (Thanks @Fen for the tip!)

Welcome to Arctica! You won't be able to return to the south for a while, so make the most of it while you're here. You can farm significantly more gallons and fragments on the world map, but limited to Arctica this time.

Now that you can dive your submarine, torpedo sub weapons are worth their weight in gold since many boats can't counter attack you underwater.

Tips & Tricks: This level's a pretty good lesson in managing the swarm of rattlers; make ample usage of the ice barrels and ice stalactites on the ceiling! The turrets can be pretty deadly so don't leave them alive for longer than a turn if they can hit you.

There's a special button you can hit in the last room before the Epic Swag that'll open a door to a story item - a Glow Rod (you don't need it now but you'll need it later).

Tips & Tricks: There are pain totems EVERYWHERE on this map! Be sure to bring classes that have high accuracy and low collateral damage (Engineer and Sniper, maybe Brawler but it's a tight fit)

Tips & Tricks: Tons of ice on the ground; highly recommend items that mitigate the hazard, or the Flanker level 4 ability "Light Step" to ignore all floor hazards (bit of a tall order this early on, but if you have it; it'll be gold for a very long time). The Epic Swag is locked in the room in the middle of the map - the button to unlock it can be found on the room opposite of it on the right.

Tips & Tricks: Lots of rattler bots that are immune to chill/freeze here (the ones with the Cool Cube hat on), so the strategy of using the ice barrels/stalactites won't avail you here! Highly recommended to get chill/freeze immunity before attempting this one, unless you like tiptoeing your way around!

Epic Swag: Handgun Mk III

Tips & Tricks: Your choice whether you want to split up your team, if you blitz through rooms 1 by 1 with all of your crew you should be able to race the alarm no problem. If more totems spawn beyond the ones that are in the rooms by default, you'll need to destroy those too for the bonus objective.

Tips & Tricks: Doors will open on the left and right sides of the arena periodically with totems in them, so you'll want to position your team to be able to destroy them immediately. Piercing weapons work wonders here, since you can kill 2 (or many) birds with one stone. Once the timer is up, the Epic Swag will be in the room in the bottom right.

Once you've cleared the whole level, it may be worth sticking around for the infinite spawns to farm for rare hats (assuming you can handle them, of course!)

Epic Swag: Deliverance (Rare Sniper Rifle - Tier 3)
Swag: 3 bags

Objectives: Investigate the cave
Bonus objective: N/A

Tips & Tricks: A rather intimidating solo bot mission; as the duo have hefty health bars and damage. One strategy to help with the 2v1 is to make ample usage of all the ice lying around to chill and freeze them to even the odds. If frozen, they'll stay that way for several turns, or until something breaks the ice.

Another helpful strategy is to equip a Jetpack (or if you're recruited "Crowbar" with their "Hollow Frame" jump ability) to skip straight to the Epic Swag before it expires! You can also leverage the high jumps to maneuver around the stage much easier. (Thanks @Hurt and Hate for the tip!)

As soon as you scrap one of them, the turrets and reinforcements at the top of the stage will immediately activate, so be prepared!

Tips & Tricks: You'll be stuck in the middle of 2 warring factions here! Choose your path - blitz one side, wait for them to duke it out, or split up, divide and conquer. There are many new hats here, so feel free to take your time and snag a few while you're at it. Piston will bail once he's at low enough health, but you can scrap Barry completely.

Stick around long enough after the bosses are gone and alarm reinforcements are spawning to snag the hat Horned Seashell (Rare).

After finishing this zone, you will get the option to traverse either the northern passage, or the southern passage. The choice is up to you, but the southern passage offers another Coglike Gear for completing 10/10 reputation! Just make sure you can deal with the mines along the way, and the massive battles that are happening in that zone.

I also recommend blowing past either zone and making it to The Faucet Bar in Titan's Drain so you can nab the +1 Crew and other upgrades before tackling missions in the northern and southern passages.

Welcome to the southern passage! I highly, highly recommend clearing out this entire zone with max reputation, as you will get the Sapphire Gear which gives a permanent +2 Cogs for multi-classing your entire crew even better.

Tips & Tricks: Bring Wesley for bonus dialogue! (and sweet, sweet revenge) The Dean will run from the room once you've done enough damage, eventually retreating to the very back room. It is possible to scrap the Dean before he retreats, so give it a try! Stuns (like Daisy's Stun Gun) will prevent him from retreating. There is no alarm here until the very last room, so take your time until then.

Piercing weapons and Boomer weapons work wonders here for all the Swordsman enemies. Also, given the number of Swordsman enemies, there is a very high chance of one of them having the Cowboy Hat (Rare). Don't forget to get the Rugged Veteran's Hat (Unique) from the Dean!

Tips & Tricks: Note this is a story mission and 5 Crewmates are REQUIRED! You'll be split automatically into 2 teams of 3 (first 3 slots are team 1, last 2 slots are team 2). I highly recommend adding Beacon (if you have him) to team 1 so he can Scram/Teleport to whichever side needs more help. Dr Bunsen will be with team 1, and Edna will be with team 2. You'll need to progress through 3 floors protecting them at the same time.

If you let either get scrapped you'll fail and have to restart from a checkpoint (so it isn't the end of the world). Once the doors in the middle open, you'll finally be able to merge the teams and have one big standoff defending the two. Once you can retrieve the Epic Swag, you will be at Critical Alarm, so make it snappy and bail as soon as you can!

The floor will drop out after the Epic Swag is looted, and you'll notice a new bonus objective to check the room to the left while you're escaping. Have someone like Poe or Beacon check it out, then book it to the end.

Tips & Tricks: Your likely first encounter with the Navy Recruit - they cower at first, but if you give them a chance to run around they'll transform into something much deadlier! Scrap them ASAP! Engineers, Reapers, Boomers, and anything with really good Action economy per turn is very valuable here. This is also likely your first encounter with the "burning" floor and status, so start leveling your Flankers for that level 4 ability!

Once you clear out the recruits, an alarm will sound and you'll need to gather your crew in one of the rooms. Afterwards, you'll get ambushed by 2 commanders and more recruits! Take out the commanders and the recruits will automatically be scrapped. Afterwards you can nab the Epic Swag and you're home free.

Tips & Tricks: The Epic Swag is a bonus objective and behind the second vault. If you're getting overwhelmed then you may have to skip on it, otherwise snag that loot! Speaking of, inside the vaults there is a LOT of loot, so use the Flanker ability that allows you to pick up loot on the go so you can skeedaddle ASAP.

You will get ALL elite Navy enemies, as well as the recruits. Be prepared for most eventualities and you will succeed! If you want to farm hats here, max alarm will spawn endless enemies for The Bonaparte (Rare) and Bearskin (Rare).

Tips & Tricks: Another obvious trap we intentionally trigger, just for funsies! Activate the consoles visible to open bridges that you can cross. Note that they won't activate until the next turn, so plan ahead! After activating all the bridges, the Epic Swag will be in the room in the upper right.

Take out the flying bot spawners as soon as they appear, otherwise you'll have to deal with 1 new bot every turn until it's scrapped. Not much more to this one than stay alive; scrap as many as you can to prevent being overwhelmed, and try not to get caught on fire as the damage really adds up. Also note this is a particularly good mission for farming rare hats!

Tips & Tricks: The alarm ticks down fast, so it may be worth splitting up into 2 teams to investigate the 3 vaults. When you finish investigating all 3, you'll gather your crew for the last room and the doors will lock behind you - this can be supremely useful if you've got a ton of enemies chasing you down (since you can just outrun and ignore them) When the last door opens, the objective will change to "Scrap the Sphere".

Epic Swag: Micro Torpedo II (Sub Equipment - Tier 6)

Objectives: Scrap the Infinite King
Bonus objective: Scrap the King in a single turn

Tips & Tricks: The titular "Infinite King" is basically just 7 soldiers all linked together! Looks intimidating, but you can totally do this on the first turn. Bring the level 4 Reaper ability "Harvest" to make this a cakewalk.

I managed to do it solo with a single bot: Chimney as an Engineer /w "Perfect Aim", "Harvest", (shoot again after kill) & "Double Down" (shoot twice). She didn't even have to move from the beginning of the stage! By far the easiest stage to farm if you're prepared.

Tips & Tricks: This one's a toughie! You'll need to scrap 3 spheres, of which an array of diamond walls will rotate between them, blocking your shots. All the while enemies are swarming in, and every time you scrap a sphere, the alarm level is guaranteed to go up by 1! (e.g. by the end it will be critical alarm guaranteed)

Bring your A game here, as you need every strategy you can get your hands on.

Tips & Tricks: The floor's gonna be an absolute mess fighting these two guys. If you don't already have the level 4 Flanker ability "Light Step" to ignore all the baloney on the ground, it's gonna be rough!

An extremely effective strategy is to combine the class Engineer and an Atomic Handgun with the abilities "Harvest" (level 4 Reaper), "Penetrator" (level 5 Flanker), "Loose Cannon" (level 5 Boomer) and all the damage boosts you can get. Then start "Harvest"-ing the enemies that spawn in; this way you can get up to 20-30 extra individual shots to blow away the bosses almost solo!

Once you scrap one of them, you'll get a level 2 alarm immediately; so don't rest on your laurels just yet! You're better off weakening the both of them at the same time so you can manage the additional enemies flooding in while you fight.

Tips & Tricks: For the fight on the World Map on your submarine, just go HAM on torpedoes and torpedo damage, and you should be relatively fine. Once the mission begins, first of all, good luck! This one's gonna be a marathon.

Just like the previous mission, the level 4 Flanker ability "Light Step" to ignore ground effects will be extremely useful here. Stacking as many damage abilities as possible and cooldown reduction is also the key to victory. Use everything you have at your disposal! Halfway through, Captain Leeway will show up (with a steadier arm this time) and extremely powerful teamwide buffs.

There's no achievement for this, but I rather liked knowing which of the unique Rare Weapons available that I had obtained in a playthrough!

Most of these are guaranteed drops in some way, but the others are completely random drops from plain swag bags. Check the guide above to see if the one you're looking for is guaranteed or a completely random drop.

Note that weapons I've marked with * have piercing! They're extremely valuable and I highly recommend seeking them out if you are able.
