Currently I do UI/UX for a living. The meetings that I have to go through can be pure hell when I show the product :steamhappy: . So I can feel your guys pain.

Alright guys - I admit when I'm wrong and gladly let the community decide. In a few days will post more concepts for you to vote on and pick the one that works best.

I also like the idea here but symbols, more pronounced symbols (not images such as these that easily bleed into the background), would be ideal. And please consider an outline to help it not bleed into the background. That's really the main issue I have with the interface overall, a lot of stuff just kind of feels 'murky' for lack of a better word. It's like a lack of uniqueness, overused colors, and clarity/compactness. I don't expect you guys to start using neon pink or anything but it could probably be less murky / have more of a punch. As busy as the CK2 interface is, it does a pretty good job at differentiating its myriad of icons.

If the other ideas fall through though it wouldn't be bad to keep this as an option rather than completely remove it.

I agree with Spinneround, the iconcs take too much space and would cover the engagement area. The way I like things is to rely on the unit models to identify them up close and if the models are too small then an icon is apparent, this is what Eugene do with their Wargame series.

Nice

Agreed - less is more here. Icons are enough

I like what u guys are thinking to do there, but same like Spinneround, I would recommend to make like a symbols to identify the groups of units. For me personally, it looks better if I have a clear screen of my troops, than having an overlay that would take space on the view.

no need for 3d image, wouldnt a more... clear symbol for archer/cavalry/infantry/seige and then some other simple and basic yet clearly showing the unit type, as well as the specific subclass that unit is ( the specific unit, vs generic like 'infantry' )

I tink the bar and sheild could work if you change the layout and placement and especailly the number in the shield is almost impossible to read or even see.

No offence I just do not see any appeal to using a 3D image of the unit , as its overlay . it would be far to cluttered on the screen, takes up lots of space, does not look right, and doesnt display other important aspects of the unit and its details at a glace which is a clear problem in itself.

Nice effort . not being sarcastic. sorry I do not personally agree with the idea, you did execute the concept you wanted very well. keep up the contributions and keep trying
