@Sickles I get the sentiment. There are some more realistic ones (e-boy, e-girl) but they feel very cookie cutter and still kinda anime-ish. There is variety - I've seen a (French) guy use a literal houseplant as an avatar, there are dinosaurs, furries, monsters, photorealistic scans of people and video game character rips, animals... also, avatars tend to grow on you. I'd never have thought I'd identify in any way with my bullboy, and here we are. But yes, things are bound to get better over time.
@FluffyFemprincess Thank you! 6k is IMPRESSIVE. I'm assuming there's sleeping involved. But I'm happy that there are more people whose lives have been improved this way!
you really do have to live it to understand it, but my oh my. 6k hrs later, i wasnt playing a game, i was experiencing a new reality, one that i too have changed myself back to my old roots in life again in some ways, becoming the person i want to be again even in real life!
Oh, I can feel some of the effects with just a 2D steam avatar, let alone a VR one, and in many other ways... I don't need my meat reality supplemented/shattered just yet xD Unless... I suppose what doesn't appeal to me with VRChat is the predominant anime-ish aesthetic of the avatars, from what I've noticed. (Yeah, I'm saying it as a VN fan ;P) I get that more realistic styles would just lead to creepy uncanny at this point, but I don't know, maybe more variety? I just can't picture expressing my "true self" or whatever looking like an anime girl
@Krow Yeah, well, maybe it wasn't your time. Or maybe you're one of these who don't get affected after all; you didn't find -it-. I know a lot of reclusive introverts who did find their place there, but I know a lot of people who remained quiet, even if a bit more comfy around strangers.
