I’m angry about one of the most coveted tenets of neckbeard culture. Their most exalted item of clothing. Their most revered headgear—yes, even more than their mass-produced Naruto headbands. The fedora. Personally, I’ve always felt an affinity toward early 20th-century culture, and the appropriation of aspects of that era by neckbeards genuinely frustrates me. (Of course, I’m aware those times weren’t ideal for many people, and I’m not glorifying the whole era—only saying it had elements worth appreciating today.)
Neckbeards have taken this once-stylish, innocent, and genuinely attractive hat and dragged it through the mud with their attitudes and the widespread ridicule they attract. Sorry if this isn’t the most exciting rant—it just needed to be said. How do you all feel about the fedora in its original, untainted context?
P.S. This rant was sparked by a post that reminded me how unfairly tainted this piece of clothing has become.
