A classic point-and-click adventure game, though some of the puzzles are on the silly side if that isn't your bag.

Pros:
+ light-hearted slapstick humour
+ imaginative, if paradoxical, time-travel puzzles
+ select from updated artwork, or classic pixel version
+ different menu systems available (dial/verb menu)
+ now includes Save/Load options for the original Maniac Mansion (a deterrent to playing MM in the original version of DotT)

Cons:
- the remastered animations have a strange quality to them that I can't put into words... not as fond of the remastered cutscenes compared to the originals
- sometimes the captions can't keep up with the audio, especially in Remastered mode
- "." skips text but not animations
- some of the animations seem stilted (Bernard takes far too long to react to successfully getting the cigar)

I do still like DotT best of the original LucasArts titles, and it belongs in the library of every point-and-click connoisseur. Definitely pick it up during a sale if you can!

OneShot is a cute and clever exploration puzzle game that will really have you thinking outside the windows. It's not a difficult game unless you fail to REALLY see what I mean by this, but put it this way, this game would be practically impossible to play on a console. I would compare it to another recently popular indie title that does a similar thing, but I feel like that would ruin some of the experience to spell it out.

*MINOR SPOILERS*

The game is appropriately named: You have one shot to achieve the goals you want, like the Ironman mode in X-COM: Enemy Unknown. Yes, there's a way to start over (and a few extra secrets if you do), but for the most part you will play start to finish with no reloading. There are points where the game will shut down by itself, but this is intentional (in certain parts, assuming the game didn't crash).

Positives:
+ adorable artwork!
+ quick travel in overhead screens (i.e. not indoors)
+ fantastic interaction with the main character AND the antagonist

Negatives:
- active item mechanic takes a few tries to get used to
- some indoor rooms are VERY large and tedious to navigate
- one of the puzzles is not clearly delineated as a puzzle (it's easy to mistake it as background)
- might be hard to find the solution to the fake game end, since that isn't spelled out as obviously as prior solutions

Overall a recommend! Play it for its distinctive story if nothing else!

Very cute (and very SHORT) light-based puzzle game that definitely could be expanded easily if they decide to do it. I played the free iOS version and bought it on Steam because I feel it's worth giving the developers some money. Is it worth $5.99 (or less on sale)? Depends on your point of view--I just spent more than that on dinner, and I definitely enjoyed LIT more for about the same amount of time. Would absolutely buy an expansion if they make one.

Ghosts of Miami is an '80s-themed visual novel detective story (with, I assume, some romantic elements I have not yet unlocked b/c I got the WORST good(?) ending FIRST) where failure is totally an option. There is real challenge to the game; it's not enough to just choose each of the different places to look for your missing person, because how you proceed with the case will affect the outcome. However, this won't stop you from being able to take a new case!

Perhaps the only letdown is no good way to skip sections I've played before, or save in the middle instead of only "Resume/Restart" a case. I imagine this would make the game a LOT easier in terms of solving the mystery, but I feel like my spacebar deserves a break.

If for no other reason, get Ghosts of Miami for the fantastic soundtrack (totally not a blatant plug for a close buddy of mine NOPE!) and amazing animated intro! A great choice for visual novel fans!

Maggie's Apartment is a cute point-and-click mystery taking place effectively in one room (well, one and a half). The main draw is the animation, which is reminiscent of the old MTV's Liquid Television shorts. The main drawback is it's rather short--not really a surprise, since everything takes place in one room.

A few other negatives:
- the puzzles are a little moon-logicky, even if they kinda make sense in this story's context
- suspending disbelief NOT that the walls are paper-thin, but that the neighbours are available to hear and talk to you when you need them (and it's hard to hear them when they DO talk to you... believable, but annoying)
- the endgame timing isn't clear (I thought the game locked up, but no--just wait)
- why did I have to eat her =(

On the whole, though, I think it's worth playing once, if only because I find Dunc and Beauty to have pleasant voices. Definitely would like to see a similar title in the future (sequel??) in this style.

It's refreshing to play a game where literal "bromance" is depicted seriously instead of as a punchline. Single parents, especially single dads, are already stigmatized enough in real life as it is. DD:ADDS is a wonderful step toward filling a much underrepresented niche and is respectful in its depiction of realistic interpersonal relationships between men and their families. Not every relationship is happy rainbows, either, and that's also cool! In fact, I find myself torn, because I'm ambivalent about one of the dads (definitely NOT my first choice), but I totally ADORE that his storyline ends up helping the relationship in a different family.

The FABULOUS points:
+ choose from three body types, plus male or male-presenting
+ you don't have to be 100% gay--you can establish your daughter as biologically yours or adopted
+ you can totes play as Egoraptor (I kinda can't see any other dadsona working now)
+ hilarious and at times touching storylines... no, YOU'RE crying, my eyes are just tired
+ hold the fast-forward button to skip all the scenes you've played before (and ones you haven't if you aren't careful, oops)
+ several mini-games included (some HARD!), so it's not just a simple "choose every option to unlock all the achievements" checklist to run through
+ AMAZING character development means falling in love even with Totally a Serial Killer Dad and Totally a Vampire Dad by the end of their stories
+ Pet every dog

A few negatives:
- limited number of saves (autosaves happen at nearly every scene change but get erased starting with the oldest one)
- a few bugs where characters will start following you around where they shouldn't be (the Christiansen twins are particularly creepy)
- the greatest difficulty with the "match 3" fishing game is (as your character states) the fish look too much alike
- no "space warrior martial arts uniform" to go with the "space warrior hair" and "space warrior eyes"
- is Amanda's "bad" ending really not achievable?? (I feel like a jerk treating her badly only for her to forgive me anyway)
- the Dad Tips on the loading screen are kind of hard to read with that low contrast
- I can't see the adorable Boston Terrier hiding behind the dialogue box =(

So: DEFINITELY buy DD:ADDS if you want to laugh and cry and bask in the warmth of men enjoying each other's and their children's company.

Definitely AVOID if you hate relationships transcending a gender binary =(

Pew pew!

The best reason to get Technobabylon is to spite that dude who claims the SJWs got him. That it's a super amazing cyberpunk game with one of the most diverse cast of characters I've seen in recent times is a happy bonus! And how can you not love Chantelle/Cheffie?? I have legit played this game start-to-finish like twenty times, and it's still fantastic!

Cute and simple point-and-click adventure game based on The Wizard of Oz. This is much more "all-ages" than the other games in the Wadjet Eye library, but still fun to play. Recommended for younger players or as an introduction to the genre, especially with its built-in hint system if you get stuck.

Look, idk. This seems like a nice minimalist student or self-study project, but I can't personally recommend Linea because I have poor depth perception, and there are essentially no visual cues to discern where objects are relative to your hitbox. Even the tutorial took me like 100 tries to complete, because "successful dodge" and "unsuccessful dodge" looks EXACTLY THE SAME to me.

Yes, it's challenging, but it's both dull AND tiring--which seems like an oxymoron, but a game where you put numbers in alphabetical order QUICKLY would also be challenging, dull, and tiring, and I would similarly not recommend THAT game, either. I'd sooner recommend a game like Timberman if you want a game about dodging--at least it has some personality.

Also HUGE WARNING, if you care about your game completion percentage, get the "Tutorials are for dummies!" achievement FIRST THING, because otherwise you will have to RESET YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS to get it later. Really bad design flaw. If you don't care, then w/e ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Get it cheap to up your "owned games" count, I guess.

Drawn: The Painted Tower is a rather basic point-and-click adventure, a step up from "hidden object" games in that you have an inventory and interact with characters and objects vs. find things on a list, though most of the items you must find are spread about in a similar fashion to hidden object games.

There IS a bit of moon logic to the puzzles involved, in that, for instance, locating feathers does not involve finding a bird or bird's nest but instead finding some other item, which rewards you with feathers. However, it's still a fun and beautiful game I've enjoyed replaying multiple times.

The only major issue I've come across is the game crashed for me several times, though it may have to do with my personal habit of alt-tabbing out of the game, but I couldn't tell you if this is something you will experience.

Overall, I thoroughly recommend giving the Drawn series a try if you love this sort of puzzle game.
